  1. Oh, oh! Have received my admission ticket for Saturday's Flying Leg-ends via registered mail. Today was another warm, bright day too. Starting to get excited.

Bloody hell!!! 115 mph lap in a car? That IS bonkers. Check out the vid at 4.30 how much steering lock he's giving it going down Bray Hill . On a flying lap the big bikes are doing around 170-180mph depending on how much of a nutter the rider is. Nice motor Dave. I've gone Captain Sensible again with an 06 Golf TDi. I like having a car made of recycled Panzers.

  5. I think you're right..................................
  6. Sorry, I'm just having fun here. Unlike Spitfires buried in Asia this is the real deal. They really have found Richard III buried under a carpark. The last Plantagenet king of England. It's astonishing and a truly remarkable piece of archeology. Now you can be a cynic BA. After all, for a citizen of a republic dosen't this represent some sort of metaphor on the future of all monarchies; buried under a carpark? Or perhaps Shelley is more appropriate; " I met a traveller from an antique land Who said: "Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert. Near them on the sand, Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command Tell that its sculptor well those passions read Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed. And on the pedestal these words appear: `My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings: Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!' Nothing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare, The lone and level sands stretch far away". Wonder what did happen to his feet?
  7. Found this over at the B.O.S. forums. Very interesting! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=jJT_CACIZqs#! Pilot " I want to reduce speed to get some flaps going" Instructor " I understand" Pilot " Where are the flaps?" Instructor "........................................" (silence). To this guy!
  8. 3/10. You'll be getting a letter to take home for your parents Jabo.
  9. Great story! Richard III found under a carpark in Leicester. However, one big problem they've overlooked with this. Richard III had two feet. He was well known for this. His left one could generally be found next to his right one. Check out this contemporary portrait of Mr and Mrs. Richard III by renowned Dutch master Fooltrottle the Elder;See? Clearly the possessor of at least two feet. It's all a fake I tell you. Either that or his feet have been buried seperately in Burma.
  10. To have a car battery on permanent charge in a house? Well.....it might be a good idea. Just depends on your tolerance to noxious gases produced by car batteries on charge indoors and/or the risk of fire and explosion associated with that. @Crash; just make sure you have plenty of home and personal injury insurance cover or move the rig into the garden!
  11. Lol, that is not a good idea.

  13. Isn't it amazing what Burma Airways will let you bring on as hand luggage?

    Css Hunley

They've spent $100 million on this thing!!!!!!
  15. Thats really nice Shark . What is the wingspan of the 1/48 scale Lancaster? Oh yeah (ahem)....know all mode on; Tallboys used against Tirpitz........... know all mode off.........ah, thats better.
  16. Sorry Kev. I wasn't referring to you at all but you know the sort of thing I mean. I agree with the above btw.
  17. I love the way these discussions go about fm's. Despite the guy who's actually flown both aircraft is saying the Mig is more manouverable we have the pixel jockeys who always feel they know best.
  18. I think you're gonna have to get used to an LCD monitor. Last year I dug my old PC and it's 19" CRT set out of the cellar to test what I thought was a faulty psu. I fired up IL2 1946 on the old pc and it was quite startling how superior a CRT screen is to an LCD. The pay off is the conveniance in terms of size and use of an LCD.
  19. I get that Toad. I think that's how RoF renders the game on an LCD monitor with post-effects enabled. Does Kev get that when running the game?

    Wogs?

Archie Bunker started out on the BBC as Alf Garnet - the nations favourite bigot - in the 'sixties. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWKy4RHf5tQ
  21. That's fuggin' brilliant Toad! It wasn't remote controlled though. Tom Cruise was flying it!
  22. I agree with Swep. I think it's a photoshop. Notice the Lightning has no wing-tanks fitted? That's going to give it a really short endurance. Enough time to form up for a photo shoot? Also, Lightning must be on the edge of a stall to keep formation with the Hurricane. The Javelin was a big 'plane too. Just does not look correctly proportioned in regards to the Hunter. The Meteor? I don't think it was ever there. Couldn't keep up with the Hurri in a cruise, ran out of fuel or just plain decided to crash of it's own accord anyway. Thats what Meteors did best. Hope the crew were o.k.
  23. Flown by instructors of the Central Flying Establishment? and big guess; picture @ 1964ish...? Ahh.......how about pic taken during display to mark the disbandment of the CFE, @ 1966? Or even just a photoshop of a lot of old British fighters?
