  1. Although I know the CH kit is very good, I have the Saitek X52 Pro (have had it for about 3 months now) and generally get on very well with it. The Saitek SST comes in for a lot of...ahem...stick, but I found it to be serviceable for my requirements. I'm still crap at the whole flying lark, but there's not much I can do about the pilot! There's a thread running at present about where the best place to get TIR from, and I mentioned there that RC Simulations in Bristol are very competitive - that's in your neck of the woods yes? Jabo
  2. Cool. Can't get that Paul Simon track out of my head now though... Jabo

  4. GK, No, no problems at all. My desk sits in the corner of a room with a north-facing window on the left hand side, so my monitor (and TIR cam) faces into the room. During the day the this part of the house is reasonably bright, although without direct sunlight, and TIR works without issue. At night the room light is behind me (although I use one of those energy saving bulbs, so it's not all that bright) and again TIR works as normal. I don't know how it would perform in a room with direct sunlight, but it seems to work OK here. I use a TrackClip Pro for preference, but I've tried it with the hat clip, and it works OK, but I have to dial up the sensitivity which I guess might cause problems in a brightly lit room. Jabo

  10. Met Report for 9th-12th July (courtesy of the BBC) "High pressure will begin to build from the south-west, which will bring a slightly cooler Atlantic flow across the UK. Temperatures will remain above the seasonal average but it will not be as hot as this week. North-east areas of Scotland will probably see the highest amounts of rain while remaining areas of the UK will experience a scattering of showers, which will bring no more than normal amounts of rain for the time of year. Away from the showers there should be a good deal of sunshine, which is likely to be more than the seasonal average." "no more than normal amounts of rain for the time of year." We're doomed

  12. Couldn't say with certainty m8 as I never owned a TIR4. All I will say though is that I have been/am hugely impressed with the v5 mainly due to the fact that straight out of the box, it's performed flawlessly. I use it with a number of different games, and have found that it increases immersion significantly. For the difference in price, I'd probably go for the newer version. Jabo

  16. I got mine from RC Simulations in Bristol. Currently £139.99 for TIR5 + track clip pro. I can't link to it for some reason, but if you Google 'RC Simulations Bristol' it'll take you right there. Dunno what they charge for postage overseas, but I'm sure I could send it on to you if that's better. Jabo

  18. Approximate or exact figure zooly? Jabo Not that it matters much, I think 'Charlie-Fox' might be unique. There are a number of airframes in museums (mainly in France), but this is the only one I know of which is airworthy at present.

  20. An 'attendee' of sorts arrived at DX today...A regular from the other side of the ditch, Daniel Koblet's Morane... [attachment=1] In other Legends news, Lockheed Electra 'Hazy Lily' will be one of the stars of this years event, and is a film star as well, as she has a major role in the new film 'Amelia' about the life of Ameila Earhart (bu you knew that). She is also rumoured to be the Electra that appeared in 'Casablanca' too! Jabo
