  1. Well, finally I have internet back at home - it's been off since Friday! A big ~s~ to all the DDz who made this year's Duxford jolly such a fantastic event (and London and Normandy!!!) A special thanks to Jim for lending me his monster camera lens, and I apologise in advance for the 600 pics I have to upload lol. Fab pics and videos uploaded already - brings it all back!!! ~S~ chaps Jabo
  2. Ever organised (lol), here's the Debrief Thread for the various DDz expeditions to London, Flying Legends and Normandy. Eight hours to go before I'm due to head off to London, so time for some shut-eye - Have a great one guys! ~S~ Jabo
  3. Gotta love the Group B cars - insane.
  4. Hi Smash, Fruitbat's pics were taken at the museum at Manston which was one of the bases in use a during the early part of the Battle of Britain. Due to it's location (it's right down in the tip of Kent (bottom right - lol)) later in the war it was one of the desiginated emergency arifields used by damaged bombers who were unable to get back to base. Flying Legends on the other had is at Duxford - also a BoB RAF base and now one of the three Imperial War Museum sites. Only two more days until I head off to London and then Dux!!! WOOHOO!! Jabo
  5. Well, according to netweather.tv, Saturday looks better, with less cloud and warmer temps...So looks good at this point. 6. Well, the shorts are clean so it's not Sid either.

Not really my taste in music either Dino ("Aces High" by Iron Maiden might be more applicable), but a really nice vid all the same. Good work. Jabo
  8. New on the TFC Blog today; "The Fighter Collection are pleased to announce that over 50 aircraft will participate at the 2010 event including 10 Spitfires. Flying Legends will showcase the development of this iconic fighter with participation of the very rare Mk1 Spitfire right through to a Mk XIX variant. Participating aircraft include Sea Fury (x2), Sky Raiders, P-51 Mustangs (including a mystery Mustang not previously seen at Flying Legends), Dakota, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane, A-26 Invader, Lufthansa, Brietling Wing Walkers, a British trio of Mew Gull, Arrow Active and Miles Magister and a Hawker Tribute." Sounds good!
  9. Yak-3UA has arrived and is now tucked up all cosy in Hangar 2 Jabo
  10. Update as of 16/06/2010 - the aircraft has now been lifted from the bay where it ditched and looks remarkably good all things considered, apparently it now needs to be examined for corrosion caused by the salt water and a decision on rebuild to static/flight/scrap will be made later. Jabo
  11. Two visitors confirmed for this years 'Legends' are legends in their own right. Bud Anderson who flew two tours in Europe with the 357FG and his P-51D 'Old Crow' from the Scandanavian Heritage Flight will both be visiting Duxford this summer! (OK, I know it's not the real 'Old Crow' - both machines (B and D variants) live in the US - but it's painted the same) Jabo P.S. Holy crap! Take a look at this photo I just found - the Red Lion is the half-timbered building on the right!!! (This won't mean anything if you've never been there before but if you have....)

    Thermal Grease

I've always been a little shy about liquid cooling, I guess I don't trust my skills enough to risk my rig! lol I know it's possible to get some excellent temps, although my processor runs on average about 10 deg above ambient so I'm doing OK. The GPU is about 20 above. That's the previous version in that review TOAD, the STG2 is black/dark grey and has quite a thick consistency. I had to warm it slightly to get a respectably thin layer on the processor - no indication on the packaging of how long it should last, but my PC gets taken to pieces often enough that I doubt it'll be an issue. Jabo
  13. You know those odd conversations that tend to crop up on TS where we seem to wind up a long way from the serious business of shooting at each other? Well it happened the other night too, with a conversation about thermal grease. I'm not sure who was on, but Funflak was definitely there amongst others and was extolling the virtues of Arctic Silver, but I thought I'd found something even better but couldn't remember the name. Well I went and had a rummage through the toolbox and found it. For those who are interested (and I doubt it's many - lol), it's the Zalman ZM-STG2 - which I think performs as well as AS, but without the conductivity downside. It's worth a look. Jabo
  14. That's a relief - we like our DDz odd, but not that odd. lol Jabo
  15. sure sounds like a pass to me m8, welcome aboard. Green tea and lemonade? Like, together or separately? Jabo
  16. Guys, as Legends is rapidly approaching, I need to draw a line in the sand for those who don't have (but want) shirts before the annual DDz knees-up in Cambridgecestershire. To this end, close of play SUNDAY is the cut-off for orders (even if payment turns up a bit later). After that time I cannot guarantee orders will be ready although I will try. I know Rog and Jedi have expressed interest, but is there anybody else? Zooly - Your shirt is with me now m8, it'll go in the post this week. Cheers Jabo
  17. Counts me out, I've failed to be worthy for a looooong time now. lol Welcome to the pound divingwolf - despite the threats of extortion and having to breathe, you'll quickly find that the only things that matter here are a passion for shooting the beejezus out of one's squadmates (who, to be fair, will be trying to do the same to you), having a good time in the process and alcohol (strictly for medicinal purposes though - you'll be AMAZED at what it can cure) Jabo
  18. ...about Windsor Castle
  19. PM to be sent shortly.
  20. Indeed JP, looking forward to it!
  21. Not sure on the engine - Flugwerke say that they are using the (Russian) Shvetsov Asch 82 "T" (it says here), but that they're built in China which would make them a Huosai HS-7 (licence-built copy) - Not that that makes things any clearer. lol Jabo
  22. I can confirm the new-build FW190A-8 which ditched in the Med a few days back was the one which stole the show so effectively at Legends last year. Fortunately the pilot was rescued unhurt although the aircraft is believed to be a write-off. The remainder of the news floored me completely. In an interview later, the pilot said that the crash was due to engine failure and then went on to say that it was the twelfth time the same problem had happened! I'm staggered that someone would continue to fly an aircraft which such a history of problems without a full investigation into the 'why'. Jabo

    Gb V Usa

Oh, and the difference between 'British' and 'English' lol. Jabo
  24. Yup Jim, that's the one - it's fab, TS3 has a plugin which works out of the box, dunno about fraps though (fraps is on my list of things to understand this year - hopefully not like the one about understanding women, that seems to be a long-term wip lol) Jabo
