  1. +1 BA - you realise that's twice in one year we've agreed on something! I think we're seeing here a situation where there is so much negative press (usually from people 'out of the loop') and considerable anticipation, people are just getting a bit tense. I honestly don't feel that the game is any slower than '46 on my rig, and the quantity of additional detail is staggering. Just sitting in the Tiger Moth yesterday with vehicles moving about the airfield, deckchairs on the grass beside the dispersal hut, shouting 'Contact!' and pressing the i key - just brilliant. Well done Oleg. Jabo
  2. Oh yes, we have windmills - it's indoor plumbing that's the problem. Jabo
  3. Same as the international version, but in Russian. Oddly, it also reverses my joystick axes which makes flying interesting to say the least. Key Specs; Processor - Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 Memory - 4 x 1GB DDR2 Ballistix Gfx - Nvidia GTX580 3GB Sorry about the gfx, I had a moment of insanity... Jabo
  4. Having d/l'd the Russian version and given it a try, I can say it looks as good as the videos we've been seeing. I'm still in the process of finding my way around the menus, but the whole thing looks pretty polished to me. I can confirm that 6DOF works straight out of the box (TIR5) One thing I like is the anthromorphic controls option which if used prevents loads of buttons being pressed simultaneously as your pilot only has two hands and needs one on the controls! People with macros programmed into HOTAS setups beware!! (I count myself in this number!) All in all, so far, great. Hurrah! Jabo P.S. My preorder status has changed from 'submitted' to 'in progress'
  5. Yes, it does. Plus win 7 isn't worried about using the first bootable drive.
  6. Ain't that the truth m8
  7. Does anyone have plans to put 'Church of Oleg' in the religion box? I'm sorely tempted...
  8. FYI for the guys on this side of the pond. It looks like the main high street retailers will not be stocking CloD in any format. I've spent a portion of today on a shop crawl to satisfy my own, admittedly morbid, curiosity. Dixons (PC World, Currys), EB & Game (stores anyway, it's available for download), although some are aware the game is imminent, have no plans to stock such a 'niche' product. Looks like the web is the only option for those who haven't already pre-ordered. Jabo
  9. Mayhem's right, dual boot is a good option although I no longer bother as windows 7 seems to do a reasonable job of keeping things organised without. Bear in mind though that I run 7 with lots of the processor intensive options (like aero) turned off anyway so maybe it's worth taking a look at that option on your gaming install to ensure you have the maximum available horsepower for CloD Jabo
  10. lol, you're not alone in your shooting problems you know. For instance I'm renowned for being unable to hit a cow's ass with a tennis racquet. Mostpeople here use a headset with a boom mike, there's a thread somewhere here which provides some further info. They're usually pretty good at ignoring background noise too. I would ensure you're using push to talk on TS too to eliminate unwanted noise on the voice channels. Jabo
  11. There you are then.
  12. I think what ol'Fruity is referring to here is that he's got an offline campaign which, like the ones that come with the game, you fly on your own with the computer controlling everything else. What he's done is to change that to a multiplayer campaign so is suioable for hosting up for others to fly on. Jabo P.S. In any case today's Wednesday, so I guess we both missed it.
  13. New trailer for Leg ends been posted at the Fighter Collection website. http://player.vimeo.com/video/21252140?portrait=0
  14. lol. I said as much to McAfee at which point they started threatening me with legal action for defamation or libel or something...unsurprisingly, nothing seems to have come of that... Jabo
  15. McAfee got me with this a couple of years back and stung me for £60. I remonstrated at length with them and they finally refunded the money to my bank account two months (!) later. Guess what - Not using McAfee now... Jabo
  16. wow. just wow. That's incredible. Jabo
  17. No such thing as a stupid question m8 (only answers - lol). Essentially you're right, HSFX is a set of mods which change or add to certain aspects of the game - so you might have new aircraft, changes to flight models, corrections to existing aircraft, cockpit and map repaints etc etc which enhance playability or eye-candy, but you could also have mods which change internal parts of the game code such as updates to the QMB or FMB for mission builders. These are only examples, but if you have a look on the developers website, you can get a break-down of all the mods within this update - be aware that it runs to over 4GB, so if you want to d/l it it may take a while. A Few Problems...

I'm sure these are just teething problems Bucky. I've yet to find any real showstoppers with Win 7 so I'm certain we can sort this. I think the best approach would be to set up a remote desktop session with one of the guys here who can spend a bit of time with you and help you through. I suggest you hop on to TS (using your old rig) on a flying night and see who's about. I'll be happy to assist you if I can. Jabo
  19. Ubi's order tracker still says 21st April for pre-ordered CloD
