  1. The big thing with this program is to spend some time tuning it. I have found that 105 degrees is max for a 4:3 monitor, I think about 120 degrees will be max for widescreen. If you use 150 degrees, of course you will have distortion and the view will be screwed up. It's like everything else in life, you need to use it in moderation. The best thing is what Squawk noticed, you get a more realistic field of view. It should almost be imperceptible, especially with a std 4:3 monitor, With a 16:9 or 16:10 monitor, you can get a nearly full field of view as you see every day with your natural eyesight (assuming you actually use your full FOV), again that will be about 120 degrees max. P.S. I have had quite a bit of trouble with the button assignments. The good news is it works great with a slider or rotary. Also two VERY important points, you must disable all zoom assignments in game and also disable the "z" axis on your track IR because both will interfere with it.

    Oh the pain...

  3. I suppose the real lesson here is they're all different. Even planes that have the same engine EG; the Hellcat, Corsair, and P-47 will have very different sounds, both inside and outside because of the hugely different variables of each plane. I'll bet in the Lanc that you hear the engines much more clearly from the pilots seat than from 20 feet in front of the engines where the film was done. This is why I try to be generous with my appraisals of the mods, 'cause a lot of this stuff is sooooooo subjective. I think there might be some real modulation problems in 1.2, but that is already being worked on, and it will be easy enough to fix for those who care. Cool vid btw, Brando. I'm so thankful for the people that put their time and money into keeping these birds in the air.
  4. Yeah, that sounds like a plan.
  5. Both Winrar and 7zip (which is free BTW) Have a handy "test" function that checks the files for errors. I was able to use it to locate the single error I had and re-download the just that section. I have a clean file that I will try to upload to the vault. It seems that filefront had some trouble with the volume, and that is what caused the errors. BTW the install should end with the black Dos window that says "press any key"
  6. Carl, What I meant by "comment out" is to put a dash in front of the filename, that way the game does not read it. The only problem with Zuti DF is you can't join unless all players have the same version.
  7. LOL!!! Sounds just like my old van! It's really a matter of personal taste/perception in the end. The sound files in UI1.2, from what I've read, are specifically designed to be easily replaced to the user's liking. One of the nice things about Ultrapack, besides the AWESOME engine sounds is that the aircraft actually rattles and creaks, especially when you push it.

Oh, the horror! All Dogz weep with you and tonight I shall get drunk in your honor
  9. No I'm not angry for sure, but I'm a little frustrated. I just don't see the point in waiting for UI 1.3 to use 1.2 which we will need to install 1.3. This is not an either/or proposition unless something changes drastically, in order to use 1.3, we're going to have to install 1.2 at some time. Why not enjoy some new mod goodness sooner than later? We can use the tools in Winrar or 7zip to check the downloads integrity if that is a concern, then with a few clicks of a mouse be fully upgraded. For the guys who don't mess with mods and already have a "clean" 1.1 install that's all there is to it. For those of us who do mess with the Mods, well, we've already done it anyway.
  10. There has been some trouble with the downloads having corrupted files. That may be some of the trouble with the sounds. You can check for corrupted files with 7zip by opening the exe and hitting test. Alternately you can just use the bit torrents as they seem to be clean. BTW the problem was with the DL hosting not with AAA.
  11. Brando: :wav2: Delta: As far as I know, there never has been nor will there ever be any FM, DM or weapon changes to the stock Oleg aircraft at AAA. If we are flying missions that use only the old aircraft then any changes to the new aircraft are irrelevant, moot and not even a part of any reasonable discussion. Past that there is no reason we can't discuss any aircraft that we have problems with, and then just leave them out of any new missions. Gec: With all due respect right back atcha, I was referring to the original thought process that led to the adoption of the AAA UI in the first place. I have always been under the impression that having a common and relatively easy path to upgrades was part of the plan. UI 1.2 is part of that plan if there ever was one. In summation I have three installs now 4.09 clean, UI 1.2 and ultrapack 1.7.
  12. I don't see any reason why 1.1 and 1.2 wouldn't be fully compatible, and so far I've had no trouble. I'll be running it from now on. As I said before the only issue is Zuti's DF mod (which, as I said can be commented out easily) and it just so happens to be one of the more compelling reasons to use 1.2 in the first place. This is not so complicated guys. I thought the whole idea of switching to the UI was to be able to keep up with the mods easily, now we have all this resistance, I just don't get it. I don't want to stir up a hornets nest, I really don't, but I don't get it.
  13. FT, I have a full uncorrupted install (finally), I could try to upload it to the Vault later if you like for Dogz use. It seems that Filefront has "issues". I only hope that I can get the FTP to work, I've had no luck in the past.
  14. As Brando said 409 final will come with UI 1.3 which will be a patch to 1.2. Unless were going to go with something else you might as well go with 1.2 now as you will have to get it later anyway, and I don't see any reason for a separate install, as the only real compatibility issue is the Zuti DF and that is easily commented out if necessary. Did I mention that 1.2 has new p38s?
  15. Think of your downloading time as foreplay.
  16. This is a really cool utility, that in my opinion really changes the game. http://il2fovchanger.byethost7.com/
  17. Looks cool, but not much range.....only 10k between charges, the good news is the fast charge. I suppose for a congested city it would make a neat little commuter vehicle. I'll bet you could pay for the bike with saved cab fare pretty quick in a place like NYC. Just a thought; I wouldn't want to hit a pothole at top speed in that thing.
  18. I'm up and running with the UI 1.2 and enjoying it.
  19. It's a joke Fireman, and National pride aside, an apropos one. We are not so unalike you and I.
  20. TONAR! Don't make me come over there.
  21. I tend to agree with Rattler, but I will ad that what Jesus would do is vaporize all of us if we even considered letting you into this den of iniquity, so sadly I must concur, it is not the place for you. Four years hence, shall be another story, and you will be duly considered.
  22. Very cool stuff. I love shooting steel, the bullet splash looks like a little silver cloud from a distance.
  23. That was funny. "You want somma' this?"
  24. That's why Hades has delayed ultrapack 1.8. Monguse wants to get UI 1.2 out now that it's finished and working and address 4.09m properly in good time. Just a difference in philosophy, I think and equally valid.
  25. Sure there is a point, 4.09m support is inevitable and will come in the form of a patch (Two weeks be sure) so If were going to stay with the UI, we might as well enjoy all the new stuff sooner than later. (I obviously have not tested this, but I suspect that 1.1 and 1.2 will be for the most part compatible, the 4.09m patch might have to be coordinated better)
