  1. If any of the new guys have not get it yet let me know and I can pick one up for you. I dont mind sending it anywhere (postage charged at cost of course!)
  2. I have a good friend who is a senior aircraft engineer at Heathrow and he has updated me on a couple of things..... You may remember the recent Airbus crash... http://www.flightglobal.com/blogs/fligh ... hotos.html Well, he told me last night that the plane was undergoing tests. Sitting in the seat was an engineer who been running some tests on the engines. As he was getting out of the seat to hand over to a flight crew (with the engines still idling) he slipped and fell on to the throttles. It was about 10 seconds or so before he could be physically yanked out of the way and as no one was in the seat, they could not reach the brakes, the rest as they say is history..... On the BA crash at Heathrow... Again the whisper in the hangers is that it was caused by an unusual severe cold weather front at altitude. Other airlines had reported an effect on fuel iceing and requested permission to decend in order to warm their fuel up. The fuel that they use, when very cold develops something known as waxing. the parfin element in the fuel becomes lumpy and can block filters. BA have a policy of not altering altitude apparently. So he thinks that is why the plane became starved of fuel (as it has waxed and blocked some inlet filters) then by the time they were examined, it had all melted and evaporated, thus leaving no trace and nothing to find. One of the engines was turning as the blades have been destroyred in such a way to indicate as much. This seems to bear out the fact there has been no recall / inspection ordered on RollsRoyce engines or a make check on the plane type. If I hear any more I'll post back.

    Track ir 2

I am not sure about tir 2 as i have tir 3(or is it 4?), anyway, you should have an installation disc with the software. once installed the camera sits on top of your screen facing you. you should also have a reflective clip / strip which you wear on your head / headset. the camera bounces an infra red light of the reflector and translates this to head movement. it works likes your mouse, a little movement goes a long way.
  8. shocking.......

  15. Welcome my Web Weary Wonderer, for is that not what WWW stands for these days. By signing up here t the Dogz you have agreed to set you life's path on a rollercoaster ride. There will be highs (first on line kill was one for me, the others include nights with Brenda down at the Downed Pilot, but you will learn more about her as you progress) and there WILL be lows (getting shot down for umptenth time by some of our dead-eyed pilots). But overall you will have fun. There is no such thing as a stupid question, so dont be afraid to ask, you will be discovering things that we all take for granted. My role within the Dogz is Chaplin, but definatly of no fixed denomination. Should you need a friendly ear, I am always avaialble. Cash will ensure confidentiality. Cheers and welcome Friar

  17. Some of you may have seen my post about losing the "My Computer" icon from the desktop. Well, I had ssome replies on how to put it back Right click on a piece of desktop, then left click properties. select desktop and then customoze desktop. once there you tick to select/de-select the icons to appear. Well i always remember Roger (b16enk for the new chaps) saying that icons on the desktop use memory and i have always been aware of this, hence i only have 4 my documents, recycle bin, a shortcut folder and a shortcut to my il2 folder. now having found how to add and remove the core icons, i decided to remove the "my documents" icon, and, i actually think it has made my macine a little faster! is it me?, have a go a see what you think............ p.s i can still get to the "my documents" from the start button.
  18. This an excellent guide on getting the best out of a Vista installation.
  19. I have a problem on a chaps computer I look after. Win xp home. He has lost from his desktop the "My Computer" Icon. It has also gone from the "Start" list as well. Any offers as to how to get it back ? Friar

  22. Thanks m8, I was hoping you would be available. So if I think I understand it.... x - 4 = 41 - 4x x + 4x - 4 = 41 x + 4x = 41 + 4 x + 4x = 45 5x = 45 x=9 9-4 = 41 - 4x9 5 = 41 - 36 5 = 5 would that be right, not sure on the method though ! Cheers.
  23. This time its Solving equations My 12 yr old daughter has an algebra work sheet. as an example here is one of the questions 5x - 5 = 16 + 2x I seem to remember something about moving stuff to the other side of the equals sign, which changes its sign, but thats about it. Could someone run through the steps so that I understand what you would go through to solve this type of sum please. Cheers guys Friar
  24. All sorted. Mobious had a slight difference in screen resolution settings. It was actually working it was just too low for hiom to see it. A slight tweak on that and all is well.
