  1. I decided to put my daughters computer into a new case, give then more USB hockups etc. When I restarted the beast, I heard one long beep. The computer shop expert here claimed its a memory problem. Same beep code without any memory installed. Installed a new stick with one gig, fired it up, one short beep but the thing took 10 minutes to load.

Moved the memory stick around and same situation. Tried just one stick of 512 and no help.

Some of the compaciters (sp) are swollen but none have broke open as yet. This is a fairly old machine (see below) and the computer shop says to buy new MoBo, PCU and memory. This seems OK, but I just put in Windows 7 and MS Office and do not want to loose whats on the hard drives. Also just added a GPU, I think it was a HD 4850 or 3850 AGP card.

    This is whats inside now:

    Gigabyte K8VM800M Motherboard

    AMD Semperon 3000 CPU

Any suggestions or recommendations on a replacement.

Leaving things alone that aren't broken from now on....Pooka

  2. Very nice Kelly, the boys look rather awe struck meeting the leader of your country. Something they'll long remember I'm sure.

Who will you have your picture with next?? Why do these famous people all travel to have their photograph taken with you??

Sorry I clicked on the small + - in the lower right corner of your post and now you have a -1.

Didn't mean to diss you mate, didn't know what it was for.

  3. Hi Sid,

I just rebuilt about three months ago and selected the ASUS P6X58D Premium. Its a socket 1366 and the one you link to is also a 1366, not a 775.

I'm very satisfied, I went with an i7-920 CPU and 6GB of 998691 Mushkin memory. Since straightening out my problems with the router its been cruising along just fine. All settings in IL-2 are maxed, no stutters.

I constructed it all myself, second build and it fit together with no glitches. Lots of room for the future with Sata 6 and USB 3 etc....

  4. Thanks Artie,

Less than 100 miles from where I live and I've never been to the Air Show (EAA) Didn't see any Spits or Hurris like Duxford and I still think the "baddest" looking plane is an F-4 Phantom.

  5. Hi fellow Dogz,

The new router/modem arrived last evening, hocked up and activated. Everything works fine, speed has returned to what I remember.

Thanks again for all the assistance, will be here tomorrow to fly with the Zoo.

  6. I'll look this over when my new router/modem arrives in a day or two. They also concurred that the problem was probably the router. If all goes well I'll check the settings with what you've sent today.

I may miss flying tomorrow, but hope to be here Thrs.

    Thanks, Pooka

  7. I'm on a DSL set up, the telephone line that goes into the router has a different connection (smaller) than the Ethernet line that comes out of the router and than plugs into the PC box.

So unless I'm missing something again, I'd never heard of this "clipboard " feature. Why doesn't BG tell me when these new innovations come out?

Thanks Snacko, I'm going after the Router today, sure hope this is the problem, and I'd guess it is. Connection is getting worse than it was last week, so it must be some component that is failing and continuing to do so.

When I ran the Ipconfig on the XP computer, the first time it gave me about 5 lines of data, I ran another time and more info was included. The most I can get from it now is what I've typed. I've run it over again (4 times) and get up to Physical Address 00-14-D1-1A-52-B6 and then it goes to the C; prompt.

When I first built the Windows 7 machine, I just plugged in a new Ethernet wire to the back of the router next to the existing XP PC. I don't recall any problem at first, later it started flashing the Connection loss.

If I take the XP PC off line, unhook the ethernet cable, the Windows 7 works fine, no temporary drops in connection.

I'll work on getting the rest of the config on the XP box. Pooka

  9. I've found the ipconfig, did the MARK and went from top left to bottom right encasing all.  Hit enter and it changed to black again,  where is the clipboard, not familiar with this site.

The other PC won't stay online long enough to get all the data, this is what it shows, hope what your looking for is here, if not I'll try setting up only one machine.
