  1. Lazy bastard.. Just for you, you idle git, who makes a mockery of why the web site side itself exists (how do you get access to the vault - does your Mrs do it for you?
  2. I have already installed two clocks on the comms page. They show GMT/BST and EST/Daylight saving, so no need to work out much in that respect. If were to just quote the time @ Greenwich (whether it be GMT or BST) as the start time and @ New York then there should be no confusion. I can add more clocks, just tell me what time zones I should add and I will do it.

If you can see the drive in explorer then right click > properties > tools > Check for errors > check now, tick all boxes for repair. Externals can become corrupt from time to time. What make/model is it? You can take it apart, identify the drive inside and buy a suitable replacement. My Maxtor got pooched (by the dog pulling it off the desk whilst i was running
  4. Show unread...I know not very reliable and if you use more than one PC it really gets cranky.. Delayed PM notification, could be one of many reasons for that, with email traversing the web...I think server sends promptly though.
  5. The items you want to change are almost certainly defined by a css (Cascading Style Sheet) file. What blog software is it? Which template are you using? Generally one has to analyse the php (or asp) file that generates the blog to identify the blocks that present the data, each of these will have a unique name. You then look in the .css file (style.css or reallyfunkytemplatename.css or whatever the template/style sheet is called) to find the matching block.... It is not as easy as you may think..

Snapshot, from Here is a very good program, light weight and has minimal system over head (unlike Ghost). Cheap, the licence fee is €39 (first time I have used the € symbol
  7. Sorry guys, as previously 'threatened' I have had to take away the choice of forum appearance for now. We were running up a shed load of errors because some modifications had not been applied to some of the custom themes, and sadly I currently lack the time required to modify any but the basic default theme. I have now repaired the forums and re-instated the majority of our modifications, like embedded video, google maps, users online history, URL pop up, inline attachments, custom profile fields (for first name and squadron number) etc... Each of the above mods required hand editing of up to 15 files, each file containing 500+ lines to search and interpret. We will be moving to SMF 2.0 in the not too distant future, and I will endeavour to provide a little more choice on appearance for that.
  8. I have the Medusa 5.1s and been using them for a few years and find them comfortable and good quality: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... subcat=692
  9. I would look for another system to test the screen on, if it still does it it's the screen/cable, if not it's the video card..

I've got Avira which I want to try with 7, I'll let you know how it goes! Done some more reading, and Server 2008 and Windows 7 do share the same code base, I had thought 2008 was based on Vista but the more I read on Microsoft Technet the more I realise I don't know!
  12. What is the purchase price on that Colin? The 38 series cards are weak, the ati 48 I posted is much better
  13. @ Delta I believe it would, as the GPU is effectively a PCI-Express device and as such would have AGP (I know it's nuts but that's the way it is!). Delta made a good post, I wanted to see if re-loading your drivers fixed the AGP issue and possibly the crash too, as IL2 may not display the same symptoms with teh newer driver if it is installed OK. Re-post your Dxdiag Smash and let us see if it helped. If that didn't I would suggest un-installing the drivers from add/remove programs and trying an older driver.
  14. Mmm, Ross you devil you. I have an itch to buy that monitor now.. Good call Toad, dual boot would be a good thing to try so the 3.5Gb cap can be mitigated and as confidence in 2008/Vista grows then a switch over is easy. For what it's worth, 2008 has more in common with Windows 7 than Vista I think, certainly some of the info I have read on Technet indicates that is Microsoft's take.
  15. 1. Modded IL2 has all 6DOF enabled 2. Nope not a jot 3. I know that feeling 4. Bummer, it will be back in stock soon. Also consider Ebay the TIR 3 and 4 are pretty good!
  16. Here you go, searching for microphone got this for me: http://www.dangerdogz.com/forums/index.php/topic,7039.msg57411.html#msg57411 It may help..
  17. You may have to go into advanced properties in the sound control utility, and select the Mic as the recording device input. As I am running Vista and Windows 7 now I can't give you screen shots, there are some on the board already that a search may bring up..
  18. Try downloading the drivers again from here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/T8Clearance.aspx?url=/17353/a08/win2k_xp14371.exe&agr=Y&ProductID=2800&DwnldID=17353&lang=eng The bit in your Dxdiag: Is concerning.
  19. Do you have start > accessories > command prompt? If so fire it up, and enter dxdiag in there.
  20. ..and how it jumped the species barrier:
  21. Lets not overlook the fact that our ££ are going to a pretty bloody good cause, so the more they get the better say I.
  22. If you want the full 4Gb RAM available then you will want a 64bit OS, so either Vista or Server 2008 (the latter is free for 240 days and should suffice until Windows 7 is released). You could run the Beta, or the soon to be released RC of Windows 7.. Avoid XP64 bit IMHO. Personally I would not buy a Vista license right now, I'm not overly happy with it personally and Windows 7 is a better OS, the 2008 is a valid option but will require some learning (mind you so does Vista) to get the best out of it.
  23. Gives you some idea of what your budget will get you: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-062-OE&groupid=43&catid=1184&subcat= That is a pre-built system, 500Gb HD 4Gb RAM and adding an ATI 4870 1024 GPU bumps the price up to £514.98 inc VAT Leaves you with a fair bit of flexibility on monitor choice and operating system (plus keyboard and mouse if required). To buy the components listed and assemble yourself would cost: £546.89 And that doesn't include thermal grease, or the one year on site and return to base warranty...
  24. Nice budget Check out scan.co.uk and overclockers.co.uk for bundles and components, the latter is my preferred supplier.
  25. Now QI dispelled the myth that dust is mostly human origin, in my house for instance it is mostly brick and plaster dust generated by the hourly passing of large articulated lorries, that have managed to reach 35+ MPH in the 1/2 mile stretch from the church up top before they brake hard for the roundabout (or they just ignore it and bounce over it as it is a mini-roundabout) 200 yds down from my house.. One of the reasons why I am attempting to move to somewhere a good deal quieter!
