  1. I'm still waiting for the dividend that on-line activation was supposed to produce, a reduction in the OS cost because piracy had been reduced thereby increasing revenue. Said revenue increase defraying the R&D cost and improving the ROI. But then that isn't so profitable is it? I wonder if this statement applies specifically to Vista? As Vista has in-built encryption and uses TPM for Digital Rights Management this will be a reality. Google producing a Linux based OS is good news, but what is really required is a bullet-proof MS Application compatibilty solution. When Linux can run any application built for Windows I can see the good ship MS foundering, and I for one will cheer. However MS has the financial clout to embroil any company that were able to produce such compatibility in a mire of legal wranglings, no doubt claiming patent infringement and other IPR misdeeds. If only 1C:Maddox would see the light and make it possible for IL2 and it's offspring to run on Linux, I for one would not miss Windows at home
  2. Sorted It could have stayed public, but a moderation hazard methinks
  3.    A). That M$ have the balls for that (OK not such a shock really). . That you didn't identify your self Mr. Guest C). Anonymous posting is possible......got to fix that! Nice post btw, so much for the licensing terms. I have changed Mobo 4 times with the same licence
  4. OK. I upgraded my account so I can accept Debit and Credit cards, and have created a Donation button. If you click Here you will see it in all it's finery
  5. Any one got some screenshots I can use? Plus any other artwork that may be suitable. I'm champing at the bit here, but don't really have time to grab screenies of my own
  6. Ok I'll set up a thread for accountancy purposes, in the private members only forum. As I have PayPal it's simple to send money to me. roger.enkel@gmail.com Much appreciated guys. Thanks.
  7. I'll second that. After flying the A20/Mossie channel mission last night I got hooked. In the ready room you will find details on how to upload missions to our ftp server I'm also working on getting the ability to attach files directly in the forums too
  8. I had to experiment on someone! You can change the rank style from within your profile!
  9. Thanks m8 Arin was very instrumental in it all too I'm looking into other ways we can enhance it, any ideas from you guys are welcome.
  10. Keep the ideas coming in. A diary section is a good idea, perhaps it should link or be fed from a diary/ready room section on the forum? Missions, Skins and of course tracks is a great idea! The temporary page I have now put up includes a concept 'Shots of the Week'. This of course can feature screenies from said traks Nice spitfire shot Dave, let's get as many pictures as possible. I want to struggle to choose
  11. Hi, welcome and Happy Birthday! The missions are good, not at all taxing and still very much in the vein of 'good fun' Look forward to flying with ya!
  12. Pay scale, my word you live in hope! Ok. Slight change in plan, I just spent a tense hour or two catering to your whimiscal needs I have decided to make it user selectable, choices being US, NATO and RAF/RAAF This can be accessed through your profile, at the bottom you will see a 'Theme' drop down. Select your theme and enjoy. Next time I get bored I will experiment with rank badges There again we could assign 'special' ranks as awards for surviving carrier take offs etc......
  13. I have started a rank system, geared against post counts. But in the interests of Democracy thought I'd put it to a poll OK, looks like the system of not having a rank, and being able to choose a Nation specific rank is the way to go Luckily we can all have our cake and eat it here!
  14. Good to 'meet' you m8 Hope you get your controllers sorted fast, you're missing the fun!
  15. Another musician in our midst! Bass being my poison Nothing flash though, just a 17yr old(?) Westone Super Headless
  16. OK. Work will commence on the site this weekend. Some input on the aesthetics would be greatly appreciated. My thoughts so far: As the site is for both the DDs and the HHs we will have a common home page, this in turn will link to the sections suggested by Sloan. Now for the home page design, visually we could have one large and central image. Perhaps this could be a shot of a couple of warbirds with a generic (or not) group of flyers in front of it, sepia toned. The group of flyers could, of course, be caricatures of humans or dogs. Perhaps if all could provide a photo of themselves (or virtual selves even) There will be smaller iconic graphics below the main graphic that are links to sections within the main site. A menu bar will be above. For the squad info/squad specific portion of the site the above iconic links will link staright to the relevant squad. We can use the Hell Hounds logo for their section, but need to think about the Danger Dogz logo here. Rosters will be under each squad section. I think we will perhaps need split recruiting sections. Can someone from each squad provide some text on the squads mission statement please? Skins, missions and other squad member submissions will be a dual squad section. Now for you guys to give us some input
  17. Hi. I have split the post containing our email addresses, and put it in the 'ready room' for now. As this room requires an account here and controlled group membership it will be safe from prying eyes there Please keep this up to date, could be handy during one of Quazi's formatting frenzies
  18. Very nice, IL2 field modding: How creative! great job there
  19. I'll put a tenner on it! Yup, Jane will pop in when we start the web site construction and discuss out ideas
  20. And here too: http://www.3dgamers.com/dlselect/games/ ... m.exe.html
  21. Indeed. Suspect everyone will be a little busy with the patch tonight though
  22. I'll go for that Me last year on holiday in Northern VA At the end of flight: Spot the grin
  23. Dunno, must be difficult to do with this long sleeved white coat I have on, hands are warm though Yup, I too chose the bucket
  24. It doesn't hurt to take a hard look at yourself from time to time, and this should help get you started. During a visit to the mental asylum, a visitor asked the Director what the criterion was which defined whether or not a patient should be institutionalised. "Well," said the Director, "we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the patient and ask him or her to empty the bathtub." "Oh, I understand," said the visitor. "A normal person would use the bucket because it's bigger than the spoon or the teacup." "No." said the Director, "A normal person would pull the plug. Do you want a room with or without a view?
