  1. If this really was on purpose it totally defeats the purpose of the whole event: Having fun

    Let's see what happens next time. I could totally understand if those that drive the tanks don't want to continue to play if the issue persists. Having to drive for vast distances just to get kamikaze'd before reaching the next flag is definitely nothing I'd put in the category of 'having fun'.

  2. I know another person who bought the F-16 after he had enough of getting shot down in the sluggish Su 25T when doing SEAD missions over and over again 😉

    I've heard he will join you once he finds time to fly again and has prepared the basic controls

  3. Since you requested for us to make a comment here: I'm in but won't drive tanks.

    Another suggestion to the scenario: If we don't get enough people for tanking, we could make it so that a flag can also be captured by paratroopers.

    For balancing reasons i suggest that the C-47 would need to drop 3 times while the Ju 52 would need to drop 2 times (since it is way slower than the 47)

    But this really depends on how many people are willing to drive tanks 

  4. I think it would make sense to limit the loadouts of the fighters to encourage playing bombers. It would be nice if only bombers had bombs and the fighters are purely air to air.
    I haven't looked at it but if the 51Ds have 150 octane it also would be more fair to remove it as well because the G-14 is not on par otherwise

    That would be really fun! I prefer the era of primitive heat seeker and semi active radar guided missiles.

    A mission with less long range SAM sites and more close range AAA would be very cool where the targets are moving convoys and tank columns :)

  6. @delta7 I can totally understand your frustration with the matter. Flight sim game devs seem to have forgotten how to write proper code without breaking the game. I am still completely convinced that this bug that's causing the crashes has something to do with one of the previous patches. I'm sure they introduced a bug into one of the events that mission makers can use to trigger an action.

    The combat box admins also couldn't get their generated missions fixed despite rolling back to a version that was completely stable last year.

    Unless the devs pull their 💩 together and investigate their code base with the whole team I don't see how IL-2 can survive long term. But maybe it's a devilish plan to ruin the old game so everyone has to buy their new games (Korea and somewhere in the future Pacific). Just kidding, I fear it's sheer incompetence on their end...

    Once Combat Pilot runs stable and hopefully steadily receives updates, I'm the first to abandon ship and switch over. The current situation is a slap in the face of every WW2 aviation enthusiast to be honest.

    War Thunder clearly shows that there's interest in WW2 aviation games, but people expect a bit of stability and quality of life features in their games, combined with affordable pricing (looking at you too, DCS). So everyone and their friends stick with that one 🥲

    Sorry for the venting. Apparently I'm a bit too frustrated about the current situation, that we have to endure right now, which truly is the dark age of flight sims..

    It certainly does look like it is going to keep us out of trouble for a while!

    Performance from my end, I saw no issues at all. I know @PapaBear reported some stutters but I think that may have been a local issue?

    I will look into the icon settings for the next session.

     

    I also had some stuttering but I guess it's simply time to upgrade when the current generation of AMD CPUs gets cheaper.

    @wingflyr thanks for guiding us through the mission. It went from being a bit frustrating at first to being absolutely awesome once we figured out who should perform which task but that's how it should be in coop scenarios 😁

    usually I have secondary spawns around 30 and 45 mins. However this was designed to be a ground attack mission so I cut these out. 

    In future these additional flights will normally be included unless for mission specific reasons

  9. @delta7 i have a suggestion for the next mission:

    in the last mission we had this giant furball situation in the beginning of the mission but after that it was very calm

    If you think it would fit the mission setting could we please have a couple of enemy sorties fly around behind their lines to spice things up a bit? Doesn't have to be a lot. Just small sorties that try to defend rear objectives after they lost air superiority in the initial battle. This would keep everyone on their toes and emphasize sticking together more. I really liked when we attacked the bunkers together and watched each other's six during the attack runs but it wasn't really necessary since there were no enemy fighters left.

    I feel like from what Fenrir said that the F-5 experience might be a bit underwhelming if the mission is tailored towards 4th gen fighters but i couldn't get much information about the mission details from the link you provided in the DCS server topic. It only says which features are supported by the scripts but nothing about the timeframe.

    I could prepare the F-15 or Su-27 from Flaming Cliffs

  11. Sorry for double posting but this is a bit of a different approach so i want to keep it separately from the previous message.

     

    You guys may or may not know that the IL-2 group is flying on wing walkers coop server regularly and there the admin and mission creator provides the community with a broad selection of scenario missions that are intended to be completed within 2-3 hours. Maybe we could all create a few missions like that and play them on Mondays. That would result in a bit more variety for us. There are of course limitations to what can be achieved with the different interests in plane / eras.

     

    Since i already started such a mission i'd like to beta test it next Monday if that's okay for everyone. I still need to know how many tasks are required so that we are able to actually 'win' a scenario in a certain time. I will aim for the 2-3 hour mark and if we finish early I'll add new stuff to do for the next time until we are 'saturated' with enough tasks for a single session.

  12. For me personally it is playing the same two training missions over and over again with everyone doing their own thing. Don't get me wrong. These missions offer a variety of targets and they are really good for trying out new weapons or airframes but I'd rather see us trying something together.

    Maybe we could even join a multiplayer server and hone our dogfighting skills. The only issue i see is that i only have a small selection of airframes at hand so we'd need to discuss whether or not we find a timeframe in which we all can fly together.

     

    @Friar  if it's only the two of us (or anyone who's interested) we could have a 'pair programming'-style mission making session where we test and modify what we've got so far like we did with your helicopter scenario set in Afghanistan.
