  1. Hi, guys. This is my take on foothold missions that we do in our evenings. They are a lot of fun. With persistence on, which auto saves as you go. There's so much to do for everybody and we work as a team, to take hold of areas and then quickly have to Support them by flying a helicopter or a HERC over, before it's taken back by red. ( and they can be aggressive) The AI are set form excellent to veteran. We play the missions with no Icons which makes it more challenging and immersive. Sometimes it's very intense. Lots of air to air. That's where we need to work together, air cover role is so important as for Ground pounding, as for support roles such as helio or Herc. Leka Who makes a variety of footholds from the previous originals(by DZSEKEB) updates them regularly and he's very dedicated to keeping them running. He's got a Discord server. link here https://discord.gg/cshgmgXuxE They are well done, they are good on frames, and a lot of fun to do. We have done most of them to the end capturing all areas, with great difficulties at times. Now with Squwak, we are continuing to do foothold missions along with other missions Modern and WW2 scenarios which Zukker, myself, and Sheriff create to keep it fresh. 2. For this coming Thursday (10th) as I have not had the mind to sort out my Syria Campaign I would like to propose we go to "Here is one someone else made earlier". I have downloaded an updated MA_Foothold mission based in the Caucasus. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3341245/ For those of you that have played this type of mission before it has been built with multiple scripts where you earn credits for achieving objectives that can be traded in for equipment or friendly AI flights etc It has recently been updated so should be good. It has persistence capability as well which I will enable so has the potential of lasting multiple sessions

  3. Fine, but lets try and have a shout out if you are or not going to attend, so those that were planning to play can make the call as to whether its worth setting up or not.

  4. @Squee7e It has the capability for you to fly many selections of A/C with a great feature , Dynamic spawning hot or cold with instant weapons loaded to your need for the mission.

  6. In essence it's a great idea... The trouble is with DCS's one great failing - you cannot occupy an AI slot in multiplayer, only a dedicated client. This restricts the abilty to drop into a well balanced scenario and take the place of an AI - you end up augmenting an AI force and sghifting the scales of the scenario. And with so many people wanting - or only able - to fly a single platform, each mission has to cater for a wide range of capabilities; some mission sets might only be realistically achievable with 4th gen platforms if there's only 2 or 3 of you on. Try the same in a 3rd gen airframe and you might find yourselves repeatedly shot down, unless there's more of you to saturate the defences. It's a bit of a knotty problem that a well designed sandbox mission should get around by providing a range of targets of varying intensity of defence - there's a bit of something for everyone. Plus, if you want to do some coordinated action then usually there's some more heavily defended areas that do require a coordinated effort to attack - it's just that no-one seems to take the bull by the horns and actually suggest it! However, I'd be up for some DangerDogz on tour adventures imnto some other servers to see what they're like...

  7. Sorry for double posting but this is a bit of a different approach so i want to keep it separately from the previous message. You guys may or may not know that the IL-2 group is flying on wing walkers coop server regularly and there the admin and mission creator provides the community with a broad selection of scenario missions that are intended to be completed within 2-3 hours. Maybe we could all create a few missions like that and play them on Mondays. That would result in a bit more variety for us. There are of course limitations to what can be achieved with the different interests in plane / eras. Since i already started such a mission i'd like to beta test it next Monday if that's okay for everyone. I still need to know how many tasks are required so that we are able to actually 'win' a scenario in a certain time. I will aim for the 2-3 hour mark and if we finish early I'll add new stuff to do for the next time until we are 'saturated' with enough tasks for a single session. What do you think?

  8. Congratulations , we have seriously hampered the enemys retreat. Italy has capitulated but the German forces have established strong defensive lines in the mountains. A major obstacle is the Monte Cassino abbey which has been fortified. This overlooks our main roads north. Our troops have not been able to break this fortress and are suffering heavy casualties. Although a religious centre the high command has taken the decision that this will be bombed to destroy the enemy emplacements. We must drop accurately as a village lies just beyond. This will be a level bombing mission with escort. The bombers are b25s and escort P-51d. We except light air cover but we must protect the bombers to enable them to target accurately. One the abbey has been destroyed there are further targets of opportunity for ground attack. Mission is scheduled for the 20th april at 2100hrs uk time. The Battle of Monte Cassino, also known as the Battle for Rome, was a series of four military assaults by the Allies against German forces in Italy during the Italian Campaign of World War II. The objective was to break through the Winter Line and facilitate an advance towards Rome. In the beginning of 1944, the western half of the Winter Line was anchored by German forces holding the Rapido-Gari, Liri, and Garigliano valleys and several surrounding peaks and ridges. Together, these features formed the Gustav Line. Monte Cassino, a historic hilltop abbey founded in 529 by Benedict of Nursia, dominated the nearby town of Cassino and the entrances to the Liri and Rapido valleys. Lying in a protected historic zone, it had been left unoccupied by the Germans, although they manned some positions set into the slopes below the abbey's walls. Repeated artillery attacks on assaulting allied troops caused their leaders to incorrectly conclude that the abbey was being used by the Germans as an observation post, at the very least. Fears escalated, along with casualties, and despite evidence, it was marked for destruction. On 15 February 1944, Allied bombers dropped 1,400 tonnes of high explosives, causing widespread damage.[5] Fallschirmjäger forces occupied the area and established defensive positions amid the ruins.
