We simply don’t have the money for these things and this incident was a symptom of this underfunding. Quite what we need them for anyway is another question. A carrier battle group is a military, economic and societal statement. Notice that neither the Russians or the Chinese have anything approaching the scope of what the US navy can field and they never will. As for our own - absurd -defence procurement policy; at the level of spending we can commit something has to give; for the luxury of two fleet carriers that will never go to sea at the same time we have given up our capability to field an infantry division overseas and have a navy with the fewest ships since Henry VIII watched the Mary Rose sink in Portsmouth harbour. It’s absurd.

So… Colin and I tested out the Grayflag Syria COIN server yesterday. Pros: everyone on there seemed to be there for the right reasons, coordinating as best they could and pushing objectives; the core architecture works well and seems to do what it’s supposed to in terms of functionality and logging and progressing the map accordingly, also regular AI interceptors performing QRA launches to keep things interesting A2A. Cons: Laggy. Very laggy. Regular stutters and pauses for me throughout our 2-3 hours online and no improvement over time. Was killed in a low altitude BFM engagement when a 1-3 second pause resulted in a loss of control and a subsequent crash into terrain. Worth trying their PG map as perhaps the combination of Syria plus all their scripts plus server ping was to blame; PG might be lighter on demands…

Turns out it isn't the dreaded lurgy I have.... I had an absolute mare of a week, Monday onwards. I absolutely hate the hot weather so thinking it was heat stroke/hot weather related I went with the headaches and tiredness until it became painful to pee. Having next to no sleep Thursday night because of the willy pain and the need to pee, I have never been so uncomfortable before in my life, the heat wrapping my already hot (not that way Painless) body so I found it hard to cool down. I got an appointment cancellation at the Docs Friday morning. Doc said it is urinary infection hence the pain and fever. Apparently these don't occur in men very often, you are allowed one (cheers I thought) then any more will need more thorough investigation. Antibiotics and up to 8 x 500mg paracetamol a day. It's basically laid me out. I drink water, I need to pee, it hurts. I have fans going etc. So, hopefully the antibiotics will kick in very soon and this shite hot weather will just feck off.....it it rains I will be out there skinny dipping in the puddles..... Thought I'd share it with you. Cheerzen
