I was short of time when I posted that. I wanted to add my impressions too. First, this is primarily about US military aviation. Lots of technical and political aspects. I've read about everything on WW2 aviation I could find but learned things here I've never heard before. I always wondered why the US had no fighters to speak of at the start of WW2. Up until about 1936 they still figured massive fleets of well defensively armed bombers was going to be the way to wage war and explains why bombing technology in general (B-17, Norden bombsight) was so far ahead in development by 1941. That idea died a quick death in Spain and left the US looking at the Bf-109, Spitfire and Hurricane and having nothing remotely of the same capability. Anyway, a great read.

Following discussions with the 352nd, there was an intertest in flying missions against them again so Deacon has set this up. As per the email below, some of the 352nd will fly with us to even up sides Here is a copy of the email Deacon sent. We will fly German in this campaign, however there are tanks available if you wish , this is in the initial planning so if you have any questions please post here and I will forward to Deacon. I will put this test mission up on sunday for a practice. Here is a sample mission for advance and secure for IL2. This only gives you the starting spawn areas for both allies and axis forces. Also flag defenses for all flags along with four bridges that can be destroyed and will repair after a certain amount of time. The flag defenses are a number of AI tanks around the flag and AAA. Each time you capture a flag you get another spawn point near the flag you just captured. the actual mission from which we would fly/drive has these extras for each side: If you lose a flag - 1) a mine field will be placed between the flag you just lost and the previous flag to stall the enemy advance 2) a friendly tank AI counterattack toward the flag you just lost 3) a retreat defense of tanks to protect your retreat or your human advance toward the flag you just lost. 4) a plane to drop paratroopers who set up the anti-tank guns between the flag you just lost and your previous flag If you capture a flag - 1)three AI tanks advance toward you next flag 2) a new spawn point for your human driven tanks There are also two airfields, one for each side. The axis airfield (located in 1236) has Bf109g14's and Ju88a4's. The allied one has P51D's and A20b's. also each airfield has many AAA guns manned by expert gunners. I forgot to mention that a flag can be bomber by AI planes but I don't remember if its after you've lost or captured a flag. Since we have been using the allied side during testing with 3 or 4 of my members using the axis side, I would suggest that you boys become the axis side while we stay as the allies. The reason is that those 3 or 4 of my members would be willing to join your side during the campaign. The axis side starts at the most Northern spawn point (in 1033) of their "home base very close to flag 1 and then travels South toward the flags. These are the exact 11 flags that will be in the campaign and all the defenses for both side around each flag. The flags will change when it is captured by being within the radius WITHOUT the opposing side having any vehicle within the radius also. You need to capture all 11 flags to win.

BluBear and I also managed to eliminate the "AmmonitionDepot" (sic) to the North of Sochi with some thoroughly enjoyable dumb bombing - though, it must be said, making dive bomb attacks with a fast jet into a fairly narrow valley with very steep slopes on either side provides for a few squeaky bum moments!

Date: 22nd May 2025 Following good teamwork from myself, Blubear, Delta, Max and Fenrir we were able to take out Bravo SAM site and then subsequently capture Sochi airfield, despite the Red forces taking it back after we had initially made it neutral. So we have now moved a little further up the coast. The campaign continues to throw up different challenges each week and I would once again like to thank @wingflyr for the suggestion.

Dogz Discord (Currently Mainly used for DCS) User permissions
Friar replied to Friar's topic in Jim's Place
Hello Roger. Although I am an admin it seems that only the site owner can add admins. I believe this to be @Jabo so I have reached out to him to either transfer ownership to me or get you added. Any news on the financial state of the Dogz server costs please? -

Salute Following a request from @Squee7e last night regarding his permissions and non-ability to post pictures onto Discord I reviewed who has "DangerDogz" permissions and found a large number of you did not have the correct permission set. I have now corrected this so the next time you sign onto Discord you may see new threads and options. Enjoy and apologies for the oversight when creating this. Regards Friar

Hi Chaps, After Friar, Squawk, Alexandra and I had a session on Monday night, the fuel depot is now neutralised, and I made some efforts to degrade some of the SHORAD around the 'Insurgent Camp' some 10-20 miles East of objective "Charlie". I have annotated a satellite image to show you what I managed to figure out via my TGP: Be warned: there is still at least one SA-19 Grison/Tunguska on the SE side of the village, plus some HMG armed technicals on the Western side. Recommend at least one aircraft with LGB or Maverick dispatches that Tunguska prior to any ongoing ops over that target. Looking ahead, it will be challenging to operate over objective "Charlie" whilst the SA-10 near Sukumi (objective "Delta") is still up. To take that bastard down is going to require a saturation attack with multiple F-16 and/or F/A-18 launching HARMS from multiple attack axes. It's gonna require coordination.
