Some footage of the recently restored Bf 109 E-4 "Rote 12"
BluBear replied to Squee7e's topic in Jim's Place
It really is a beautiful beast isn't it? Stunning restoration. I'd love to see this at a show over here, it's been a good 10 years since we've heard a Daimler Benz in these shores. If you can get your hands on a copy, I'd recommend the inaugural Vintage Aviation Echo (https://www.vaemag.com/preview-volume-i). Not only is it a wonderful publication, but one of the chapters is dedicated to Rote 12's restoration and test flight schedule, written by the pilot you see, renowned moustachioed RAF officer and warbird legend, Flt Lt Charlie Brown. Fun fact: Both Fenrir and I flew with this gentleman in a Boeing Stearman many many years ago as RAF cadets on warm summer's evening as a reward for marshalling at an airshow. Ahhh memories.- 1 reply

Cheers Boo, good to see you are enjoying the server, and thanks for the feedback. Now I am not actively simming anymore, but I try and keep this server running as much as I can -
Thank you

Then thank you DD_FT! The balance is perfect. Especially for noobs (As I class myself after 7 years away). You can get in, get up and get shot down in moments, no need to spend 4 hours looking for the other guy in server. S! -
Its the only way to use the F4 radar to get BVR kills against fighters in my experience, known about this for a while, but that video explains it really well. I have the buttons mapped for entering Boresight and the different aspects on a 4 way push hat (push to enter Boresight mode). You can use this method in WVR as well, just put the piper on the enemy, no need to 'Jester context button long' to lock, you can fire as long as you keep the piper on the bandit through firing to the impact. The F4 radar is a Fire Control Radar really just for guiding missiles onto targets rather than for building up a situational awareness as well, as in jets from the F-14 onwards, so you need to be guided on to the target (as accurately as possible) to use this method. One thing that is pretty key to note, is that if you are being guided on by AWACS in the F-4, you will need to know the MAG Variation on the map at that current date and subtract/add to the BRA calls by the AWACS to be guided on accurately and have the enemy in the Boresight cone. F-16/F-18/A-10 can access the Current MAG Variation from inside there cockpit displays for sure, maybe others, so I use one of them to check it when building missions. Its a sensible thing to have in the Mission briefing page.

Definitely useful for the upcoming cold war campaign that's in the works right now 👍

Glad you're enjoying yourself, all credit goes to DD_FT -
Saw the same video myself yesterday and was going to post it here!

Just a quick thank you for keeping the DD server alive and interesting. Coming back to CloD after probably 7 years away, its a great place to cut ones teeth again (I got a bit of a shock with just how aggressive the 110s and 109s are). Good Stuff. Thank you

Here are some Screenshots I made of Chris and Tom flying in formation. Sadly I didn't know the hotkeys and i had to use the windows Screenshot tool so the quality is a bit lackluster

352nd Advance and secure missions

Since you requested for us to make a comment here: I'm in but won't drive tanks. Another suggestion to the scenario: If we don't get enough people for tanking, we could make it so that a flag can also be captured by paratroopers. For balancing reasons i suggest that the C-47 would need to drop 3 times while the Ju 52 would need to drop 2 times (since it is way slower than the 47) But this really depends on how many people are willing to drive tanks -

352nd Advance and secure missions
Squee7e replied to delta7's topic in IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles Series
I think it would make sense to limit the loadouts of the fighters to encourage playing bombers. It would be nice if only bombers had bombs and the fighters are purely air to air. I haven't looked at it but if the 51Ds have 150 octane it also would be more fair to remove it as well because the G-14 is not on par otherwise Just my two cents here -

352nd Advance and secure missions
FoolTrottel replied to delta7's topic in IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles Series
On your pc the mission was created/saved in the 'Multiplayer/Dogfight/Campaign tester/' subfolder, that subfolder is missing on the server. To fix it: Either create that folder on the server, and put the mission files in there. Or re-save the mission to the normal 'Dogfight' folder on your computer, then transfer it over to the server. Or edit the .list file and remove the 'campaing tester/' folder reference from all the lines in there. In this case I applied the third option. It should load now. -
It is a great looking map Delta. I am sure it will come to give us many hours of missions

I have purchased the cold war Germany map in case we can do this
