The Celebration of Life will be the second last week of September and pictures will be sent to you to post.

In answer to the question of flowers or a donation:

Please arrange for a donation to be sent to the following:

Attn. Foundation Office

Grey Bruce Health Services

55 IsLa Str.

P.O. Box 406

Markdale, Ontario.

N0C 1H0

Canada

This is the hospital that Jim was in and they were outstanding in their care and personal interest in ensuring he was comfortable and without pain. The whole hospital works as a team and it shows. A new hospital and equipment is required and this donation will be put to good use in the local community. Really appreciate this tribute to BG and know he will be embarrassed but proud and I am so gratefully to have had the chance to meet so many of the Dogz.

Did BG spend any time in the services?

I ask this question and my previous one because:

1) if I am off work that day, and Helen has no issues with it, I only live 2 (maybe 2.5) hours away and could attend on our behalf (depends on work schedule)

2) if he served, in any service, then I am permitted to wear my dress uniform.

Not sure if appropriate, or welcome. But I throw the offer out there if anyone (Rog) would be able to inquire.

Fireman, if you could be there that day, just be there, and represent us, that would be só good...

Whether in uniform or not... being there is what counts... in my opinion...

As far as I know, Jim never served... as I think he would've talked about it and I would've remembered... but of the latter, and so, of both ... I'm not sure, I'm a DD after all...

From a different point of view: I cannot imagine Jim taking orders from anyone...

(The two lines above are basically irrelevant, as I just don not know...)

Well he may have done National Service.

I will ask..

Either way if you could represent us Andrew, and again I will ask Helen, then that would be grand.

~S~ Andrew,

It would be great if you could represent the DDz in person m8. Sid and I did the same when Klinger died and it was appreciated by those attending who knew how much Kling loved flying with the DDz.

The fact that we are a well dispersed international bunch of misfits means that we cannot easily attend the celebration but it sure would be nice to know that at least one of us can.

I know how you feel about wearing the uniform.

S~ Gentlemen

It is with heavy heart that I return to these boards. I have just heard the terrible news, although it was deemed inevitable, nothing takes the pain away except fond memories and a little bit of Father Time. My condolences to friends and family.

"High Flight"

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth

And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth

of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things

You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung

High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,

I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung

My eager craft through footless halls of air....

Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue

I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace.

Where never lark, or even eagle flew —

And, while with silent lifting mind I have trod

The high untrespassed sanctity of space,

- Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

Salutes BG.

Thank you for everything. Of all the people I've come across in my days, you are among the truly finest.

Your kind heart and high spirits will always be remembered.

Salute, Jim. Thank you for being the person you were, and for bringing this group of like minded people together. If I may also add a salute to Helen, for being understanding of the amount of time spent with friends, some, never to meet physically. It takes a special kind of person to understand that. You were both fortunate to find each other.

RIP Jim

I know not what to say so I'll take some words of somebody else:

"Peace, peace! he is not dead, he doth not sleep

He hath awakened from the dream of life

'Tis we, who lost in stormy visions, keep

With phantoms an unprofitable strife,

And in mad trance, strike with our spirit's knife

Invulnerable nothings. — We decay

Like corpses in a charnel; fear and grief

Convulse us and consume us day by day,

And cold hopes swarm like worms within our living clay.

The One remains, the many change and pass;

Heaven's light forever shines, Earth's shadows fly;

Life, like a dome of many-coloured glass,

Stains the white radiance of Eternity,

Until Death tramples it to fragments. — Die,

If thou wouldst be with that which thou dost seek!

Follow where all is fled! — Rome's azure sky,

Flowers, ruins, statues, music, words, are weak

The glory they transfuse with fitting truth to speak."

All my condolences to Helen, that she may stay strong now..
