1. DDz Quorum Friar Posted October 12, 2006 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted October 12, 2006 i am thinking of going for the free bt broadband upgrade. i am currently at 2.2mbs but with the upgrade can go to approx 6. for this i will need a router rather than the usb modem i have at the moment. i do not have a 10/100 network card. i have had a quick look in dabs.com and they range from dabs own at 3.97 to upwards of 80. i know they say you get what you pay for, but how much do i want and what should i pay for it? 1. DDz Quorum B16Enk Posted October 12, 2006 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted October 12, 2006 It's gigabit too, not that we expect gigabit speeds on broadband this year... Are you 100% sure your mobo doesn't have built-in nic?
1. DDz Quorum Friar Posted October 12, 2006 Author 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted October 12, 2006 yes, i had a good look round the back the other day. the machine is 4 years old now, well i say that, its like Triggers broom, had it 30 years.....10 new handles and 25 new heads. i have upgraded sound cound, graphics twice and memory twice. When I originally bought it i think i never specified a network card or never dreamed that i would ever need one!
