gec
Anyone tried this? http://facetracknoir.sourceforge.net/home/default.htm For quite some time now, commercial as well as non-commercial face-tracking programs are available, that make gaming and 'simming' fun: by just moving your head, you can look around in the game you play! The existing programs have proven their power and are used by many people around the world. These programs have also got a few shortcomings: they may cost you quite a bit and they require the users to wear some clip, hat or other device with LED's to make it work... To make face-tracking available to everyone and eliminate the need for anything but your computer and a (simple) web-cam, we started making FaceTrackNoIR in May 2010 and by now, over 100 games/sims can be played with it. FaceTrackNoIR supports the Free-track-protocol, TrackIR enhanced games and can be used with PPJoy, for games that are not supported elsewhere. Especially for FlightGear we incorporated an UDP-protocol. New in version 1.4 is support for MS Flight Simulator 2002, 2004 and FSX, as well as support for some older games like CFS3. some debate on the subject on SAS: http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=7689.new;topicseen#new and some more: http://forum.ivao.aero/index.php/topic,171358.0.html i've installed it with no problem, but tracking is veeery slow, low fps (cca 20 - 22fps), can't turn my head over 3 or 9 o'clock, high processor usage by the process (15-20%) but i'm quite sure that most of the problems can be solved with finetuning. gec
Here is the demonstration video from YouTube that shows exactly what i'm saying. u can see how pilots head turns slow and he never checks hes six. in other hand this video shows much nicer side of the facetrack doing exactly what it should. may be still a bit slow.
