Arsenal
I will be flying for the ever venerable US Navy of course! "Anchors aweigh my boy, anchors aweigh! Farewell to foreign shores we sail at break of day, To our last night ashore, drink to the foam, And 'til we meet again here's wishing you a happy voyage home!" Can't tell you how many times I had to sing that in bootcamp. :?

Tonar
This is a tough one  I guess I could fly around in an thin tin can under the Blue Flag. Do the IJN have a land base? or is it carrier landings all the way? if thats the case, its going to do wonders for the plane counts. I'll do it !!!! Put me down as a slant eye. maybe Psyhco will join me and let me wing him If not, Look out !!!! :violent3: :violent3: :violent3: :violent3:

DoubleTap
Put me down for the nippers. Also suggest that you let others be Air Commanders for a change. What does that mean? I always pick others. I am so very hurt by this insinuation...Or were just making sure I did not pick you again this time? Von Tonar is most honorable Imperial Japanese Naval Commander. Hai! (You can be there from the start, right?) Jensenpark, if you can be there from the start, will be the US Commander. Yes, (to Von Tonar's question) except for the Japanese Sea Planes, it's all carrier landings for the Japanese. I would suggest practicing carrier landings most strenuously (broo-ha-hah!). For the Americans, there is also Midway for landings, which is a real strong incentive for the Japanese to shut it down. In case they do, I certainly hope the Yanks will practice their carrier landings as well. (I am speaking to myself, by the way, because I stink. I still do not have my arrestor hook mapped!). If I can make couple of suggestions/observations. In addition to practicing landing itself, both sides might want to work out traffic control; ie which carriers are for landing, which are for takeoff. I will put different colored lights on the carriers for both sides so as to make recognition easier from a distance; red, green, and white. The largest Japanese carrier will have no lights. For the Yanks, Midway could be a disaster. There are 6 different types of planes taking off from there from two separate spawn points. Add with planes coming in, sometimes damaged, and there is a recipe for an ugly (but hilarious) disaster. For the Japanese, keep in mind a couple of things. First, one of your carriers is larger than the rest because it is a American substitute needed for B5N2 ('Kate') takeoffs. It might make landings easier to use that one. True, then it makes it difficult to use it for takeoffs. However... Two, it just occurs to me that in order to help keep that carrier clear, it MIGHT be possible to launch Kates from the other carriers IF other plane types spawn before them on the same carrier. That might push the Kates back far enough to give them enough deck space to take off from the smaller Jap carriers. I have NOT tested this out as I would need other players to do so. The Japanese team might want to check that out. Of course, it would take a certain amount of coordination to pull this off. BTW, Frior, thank you for tabulating the player list. Rattler
Put me down as a Jap/merc. I hope to be able to fly for at least one whole mission. We'll see. It depends on the Sergeant-Major of the household  By the way Glenn, thanks for the training missions. I managed to get a Kate off of a carrier, and then land it again too. I have some tips for others if they wish, but I will only share with my M8's  !! Not easy to fly, especially with no trim... Looking forward to it! Enforcer57
This time, I would really like to fly Red, but of course, if needed, I can fly for the forces of evil. I just have a thing for Midway since I was a kid, and have always tried to imagine what it would have been like flying F4Fs,SBDs,etc against such odds in such a desperate battle. Like I say, I can fly IJN if needed though, since by nature I am definiitely not normally the Dudley Dooright kinda guy (twirls handle bar mustache between fingers) and am widely considered the epitomy of evil. Midway is the most fascinating battle to me, and Ived always admired those guys so much. I got to see George Gay at a symposium once (I was sitting behind Cliff Robertson), and I read his book, along with a million others. this looks like a wild ride. :!:
JerseyDevil
I'll fly which ever side it takes to keep things even. I'll even bug out of work a bit early to make the start if I can swing it.
Enforcer57
:!: oh yeah, doubletap.....that's really cool the way you guys managed to keep that chick's mike on when she went to the head (I said went to the head, I mentioned nothing about giving it  ). Man, do all the chicks that work there hate men that much? you should tell the guy that made that little "mistake" that he could always apply to Howard Stern.....i bet he'd hire 'im. well, back to shooting traps. DoubleTap
This is a hard decision, but I'm leaning Blue, should the sides be uneven I wouldn't mind the switch to Red.Can't wait. Pooka Thanks for willing to be a switch hitter...er, I mean you're willingness to go both ways,...uhhmmm, what I mean is, uh..anyway. Just so you know, I would like to anything possible to keep the teams as they are so they can plan and scheme together and not have their nefarious plans revealed. Of course, there is always a chance we will have a big imbalance which will need to address when people are unable to make it or have to leave. The basic guidelines for play-balance will be this: 1) Teams should be even if possible. 2) If there is an odd-man left over, and we have a Merc available (I will remain a Merc until the last) he should fly Red. 3) However, if somehow we are faced with a choice of either; starting with the Blue up 1 pilot; or pulling a Blue to Red to compensate, I would prefer to keep the teams as they are. If they gap grows to 2 or more for either side, I will be forced to balance them out. I'll switch first, and then ask for further volunteers if needed. If for some reason, (unlikely as it may be) I need to switch Core members from either team, do your best not to reveal your previous team's plans/strategy to the other side. As an aside, if any of you are pretty unsure whether you can make the 15th, maybe Frior should list you as Merc with a preference, just so we don't have very uneven starting roster.
