Tribunus Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 We had a long weekend here, so I took another trip out into the desert. Quote
Tribunus Posted July 27, 2009 Author Posted July 27, 2009 The picture (View 1) is up higher on the plateau looking down toward the big, lighter colored boulder where the numbers and the three bodies were found. Quote
Tribunus Posted July 27, 2009 Author Posted July 27, 2009 Well, I found bones alright, just not whale bones. Quote
Streak Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Now that's what I'd call an exiting little adventure. Quote
BadAim Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Now THAT is an adventure. I should think that the first thing a desert traveler thinks on finding the bones of another desert traveler might be "But for the grace of God.......". Am I off base? Quote
Tribunus Posted July 28, 2009 Author Posted July 28, 2009 "But for the grace of God.......". There is a strong sense of that. Quote
JensenPark Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 fascinating Tribunus... Interesting and creepy. Quote
Jediteo Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 How much hellenistic influences can be found today Tribunus? Alexandria is supposed to have been quite a beutiful city in its day. Quote
Tribunus Posted July 29, 2009 Author Posted July 29, 2009 Alexandria would have been an amazing place to see back then. Quote
Jediteo Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Please do Tribunus, while I mainly study modern history, ancient civilisations are quite fascinating. The dynasty of Ptolemy was quite interesting, especially with the intrigue of Augustus/Octavianus and Marcus Antonius. The libary of Alexandria and the lighthouse is one of those wonders I always wanted to see, but they are both destroyed. Quote
