Dubbo
Recent Photo taken by Beebop on my camera. Will make a nice print I think.
Waldo.Pepper
Wow extremely impressive. I would say it is a B-50 or more likely a KC-97. More please!
Dubbo
No mate. Here's an easier one but try again on the 1st one......(It's going to go beside the He111 in the hallway)
Waldo.Pepper
Well the 2nd one has to be a Mossie but the first one has me stumped.
Dubbo
Well I'll hold off on telling you then. It's not often I get to stump you, even for a minute...so I'm enjoying it. Yeah, the second one is a Mossie (easy) but it's still a good picture. Very organic looking I think.

Cold_Gambler
Millenium Falcon?
Rattler
Millenium Falcon? Martin (?) B-
Dubbo
Correct mostly Rattler. Douglas B-18 Bolo ..... unless you're thinking of the the Martin B-10 in which case you'd be wrong. The Bolo replaced the B-10 and was based on the DC-2 transport.
Waldo.Pepper
I was stumped totally! I was going the wrong way historically too!
Cold_Gambler
so..... it's not from the Millenium Falcon :?:  Good eye, Rattler, especially considering that it's upside-down in Dubbo's pic.

The Bolo replaced the B-10 and was based on the DC-2 transport. It was the B-18 I was thinking about, competitor to the B-17. One of the ugliest pieces of crap I've ever laid eyes on IMHO. Definitely a candidate for "if it looks right, it is right"; in this case, it is NOT right!
Beebop-RIP
...Good eye, Rattler, especially considering that it's upside-down in Dubbo's pic. Umm, as the photographer, I beg to differ. That photo was taken in front of the nose looking up. Try flipping the pic and you'll see what I mean.

sged
Dubbo a wild guess.....the next generation of the p-51...erm.....or not....
Waldo.Pepper
Depending on the sign it is either a Cavalier or a Piper Enforcer.... turbo prop version that was made tested during Vietnam. Never saw service. Two made I think.
Dubbo
Enforcer it is. You can read that sign? Piper should have made civilian versions. Had some armament what.
Waldo.Pepper
You can read that sign? LOL No I cannot read the sign. I meant that the plane started out life as a Cavalier, then Piper took over the project - so the sign in the museum could have read either. sged
Feels like a waste to see this beauty collect dust in a museum....
Dubbo
Most of the aircraft there - and there are a lot - will never fly again. As artifacts they will be preserved that way. I am torn between seeing them flying and seeing them preserved. That Blackbird-type aircraft behind the Piper is actually the YF-12A from which was developed the SR-71. Quite a different aircraft up-close with different wings and a retractable ventral stabiliser.
Waldo.Pepper
If they fly they crash, eventually. I am quite happy to see them preserved. Their primary enemy in such a setting is a fire. Hamilton almost lost their Lancaster in a fire. Museums in Florida have the additional peril of a Hurricane etc etc.

We need a road trip to see it! :joker:
