cannon_fodder Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 What this story fails to mention is the fate of the village of Charton. If you follow Charton Road north you end at a crash gate halfway down the runway. There was worry that the Brabazon would not be able to take off from the existing runway so the village of charlton was compulsery purchased and the peolple rehomed in Patchway. The Village was bulldozed and the runway extended to 8000+ ft to handle this monster aircraft. I think the maiden flight got up in less than 4000 ft Quote
