Blairgowrie Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Friar and Bloke kindly told me how you can change a ships direction by using the numpad. This morning, I loaded a new map and placed a Lexington carrier on the map. While the object was still flashing, I pressed Numpad 1 then 5 then 7 then 9. Nothing happened and the direction did not change. Anyone have any idea what I might be doing wrong? I also checked the mission building guide and followed the instructions there. Quote
BBloke Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 It may be that you numpad keys are not assigned to object orientation in the user file? Quote
Blairgowrie Posted January 25, 2008 Author Posted January 25, 2008 All I did was place the carrier on the map Chris without any waypoints. How do I go about checking if the numpad keys are assigned to object orientation. And finally, why does this shite have to be so difficult? Quote

BBloke Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 LOL.. I don't know am I missing some cheques in the post?! I would post up my settings file but alas I cant get to my machine at home just now. I think you 'll find some details in the settings file for your pilot. Quote
Blairgowrie Posted January 25, 2008 Author Posted January 25, 2008 Not an urgent issue Chris but here is what my user file default settings look like. [HotKey move] JoystickDevice0 AXE_U Quote
1. DDz Quorum Friar Posted January 25, 2008 1. DDz Quorum Posted January 25, 2008 Jim, The ship will change direction when you plot a waypoint. You used a moving ship. The rotaion with the keypad numbers only works on stationery objects. When you use the ctrl and left click to plot a waypoint from the object, it will re-orientate to that direction. the numberpad keys will not work in this instance. Cheers Colin Quote
Blairgowrie Posted January 25, 2008 Author Posted January 25, 2008 Friar sir, you get the prize on this one! Sure enough, when I plotted a waypoint the carrier swung round in that direction. Thanks for your help all on solving another one. Case closed. Quote

Enforcer57 Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Remember to put several waypoints in the turn to keep it from being too sharp and to look more realistic. Remember to check the speed as well, and keep in mind that the default speeds are in kmh and are very slow. Your CV should be going around 30 knts, which is about 50kmh I think. I always put a very high number to make sure its going max speed. Remember to do the same wiht any escorts. Quote
