BBloke
If both your PC's have network ports on the motherboards then its a case of plugging in the Network Switch (its an 8 port) to the mains and connecting one network lead per PC to it and setting file sharing going. (I can supply the leads too)
1. DDz Quorum B16Enk Posted November 16, 2007 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted November 16, 2007 If you are just copying files, and don't need/want your registry being gosh (bless me Friar)ed with then use Robocopy from the 2003 resource kit. It's a little complex on the switches, but if you post what you want to copy I could create a batch file. It is Robust (hence the Robo bit in it's name), will re-try if a file is in use, can write a log to confirm the operation and can also be used to mirror folders..ie remove a file from the source and it goes from the destination too. And it's free.. Oops..link is here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en WIKI here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robocopy
delta7
thanks guys - I decided to just bite the bullet and install myself- it all went quickly and easily- I used microsoft files and settings wizard to transfer my main settings across and then I installed the old hard drive into my new computer- all I then had to do with most was install any programs
