..if this is the cause of IL2 suddenly dropping to desktop, as though the windows key has been pressed..

SYMPTOMS

Programs may quit, start, or lose and gain focus randomly; text in programs may be unreadable; and the logon screen may appear to be controlled by someone who is remotely connected to the computer.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you turn on speech recognition and you do not configure it. You can activate speech recognition in Office XP and in Microsoft Plus! for Windows XP.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, you can turn off speech recognition and text services. To turn on or turn off Windows XP text services, use one of the following methods.

Method One

To turn on or turn off Windows XP text services:

1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

2. Click Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options.

3. Click Regional and Language Options.

4. Click the Languages tab, and then click Details in the Text services and input languages box.

5. Click Language Bar in the Preferences box.

6. To turn off text services, click to select the Turn off advanced text services check box. To turn on text services, click to clear the Turn off advanced text services check box.

7. Click Yes if you are prompted to confirm your selection.

Method Two

To turn on or turn off Windows XP text services:

1. Right-click the Language bar.

2. Click Settings.

3. Click Language Bar in the Preferences box.

4. To turn off text services, click to select the Turn off advanced text services check box. To turn on text services, click to clear the Turn off advanced text services check box.

5. Click OK, and then click Yes or click OK to confirm your selection.
