Rattler Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Inspired by Dave (Delta7), I posted the following on the Zekes vs. Wildcats forum... http://www.warbirdsofprey.org/modules.p ... =5460#5460 Quote
Enforcer57 Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Yeah, that makes alot of sense. HVARs, like modern 2.75 in rockets, are area kill weapons against numerous targets, like motor fire. They were never designed to be that accurate anyway, thats why you see guys firing in quick succession or all of them in ripple at once, especially at naval targets. Quote
Rattler Posted April 4, 2007 Author Posted April 4, 2007 Granted, they could possibly hit something if you're VERY close, but the early 3.5's had a range of 500 m, and that's against a stationary target. With a 6 o'clock attack, your target is already moving away from you at about 200 - 250 mph, 89 - 111 m/s: it's quickly moving out of range as you launch it! Quote
Tonar Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 I had a P-38 come in on my six last night on ZvsW, I jump into the gunner to take a whack at him, and sure as shit, he lets a volly of rockets go. Quote
Tonar Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 I don't think I care within the group, but flying on a Full switch server where it is about the realism and difficulty. It is frusterating when you make it to target, Destroy target(whether friendly or foe), Head home while fending off a fighter, Seeing the home airfield then getting jumped by rockets. Quote
