Well for those that are interested

These are updated links to get XWing Alliance running on Windows 7 64 bit as well as upgrading the graphics

You can get XWA running on Windows 7 64 bit with this tutorial.

Then after that head over to Darksaber's webpage and get DSUCPv2.1

This will upgrade the graphics as well as as do a full install for no CD's (must have XWA installed per above first)

Grab the Reimer's XWAHacker and after you have it upgraded use it to change the resolution
