DD_Arthur
Will there be some sort of opening ceremony when it goes on display? A ribbon cutting......with a band, perhaps?

1. DDz Quorum FoolTrottel Posted February 19, 2015 Author 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted February 19, 2015 Finale, no really, where it concerns the cars... unless I do find a good model to do the Duel Truck 1965 Dodge Coronet 500, 1957 Mercury Turnpike, 1956 Ford F-100 Pickup I think you're developing a bit of a habit there FT! Habit? No, unfortunately, it starts to look like a form of cardiction ...
1. DDz Quorum FoolTrottel Posted February 28, 2015 Author 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted February 28, 2015 The final Internet purchase arrived today. And, well, it is a beauty! Now, do I really want to risk it, and change it into this thing? (I never expected it to be this nice, and detailed!) Should I really? Sweper
That last picture looks like it is from a movie I have seen? Edit: Found it http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067023/?ref_=nv_sr_1
DD_Arthur
Swep, my mother-in-law drove the tanker in that film. She drives like that everywhere . Seriously! FT, I think that is a bit too nice to turn into a brown thing.
1. DDz Quorum FoolTrottel Posted February 28, 2015 Author 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted February 28, 2015 (...) FT, I think that is a bit too nice to turn into a brown thing. I tend to agree with ya Arthur... The packaging even contains a spare set of side mirrors! Never realised it was a brand new one, I thought it was a used one, as it cost only $39,95! So, no Duel scene on the bridge then... too bad. Though it saves me the trouble trying to get my hands on a 1/64th scale red 1974 Plymouth Valiant Swep, my mother-in-law drove the tanker in that film. She drives like that everywhere . Seriously! (...) LOL!
2. Administrators Jabo Posted February 28, 2015 2. Administrators Share Posted February 28, 2015 I'm not a big fan of trucks in general, but that is a very nice model. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
1. DDz Quorum FoolTrottel Posted March 13, 2015 Author 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted March 13, 2015 Finally, the bridge was transported to the shop. The painting to the right is of a pair of Mitchells flying over the very same bridge... (I've posted pictures of that painting some time ago) In the middle, a 1/72nd scale Flying boat, all metal model.

1. DDz Quorum FoolTrottel Posted April 19, 2015 Author 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted April 19, 2015 Moving on to dressing the scenes up a bit.... And this is how it looks on the inside of the Green car and the Red car, full of N@sty B@st@rds... yeah, lots of effort on painting them, where no one will ever really see the results... Maybe for the best ... lol
1. DDz Quorum Painless Posted April 19, 2015 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted April 19, 2015 Really good rust effect on the trailer Arjen , what did you do exactly ?
1. DDz Quorum FoolTrottel Posted April 19, 2015 Author 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted April 19, 2015 Really good rust effect on the trailer Arjen , what did you do exactly ? Sanded the original red paint/lacker a bit, to roughen it up. Then a layer of Humbrol 133, and a second one. Next, use Alu paint (56), spread out on a bit of paper first, and dry brush it over the brown stuff, making sure the brush direction used was the same one rainwater would when dripping off of the thing. Next, same dry brushing with flat black. Dry brushing by me is always kinda 'wild' and 'random'... not thinking about it too much, just go paint! For the texts on the tanker trailer, I just applied some simplified shapes for the letters -it is way too small a scale to really paint each character- after first painting the lighter coloured boxes, not bright white, something close to it.
