Hello chaps,

My friend John (who some of you met last year) wishes to sell his RAF flying jacket and signed Lancaster picture as a pair.

I know it's alot of money but they do qualify as investment items which can only go up in value as time goes by.

He will not be offering them on Ebay or any other such site , only to private collectors. That said, I offered to advertise them on our site just in case anyone is interested so here they are...

A ‘brace’ of WW2 items for sale. The first item is an early 40/41 Irvin sheepskin flying jacket in excellent original condition, the jacket has no cuts, rips, repairs etc. And has all original working DOT zippers with Air Ministry crown. The leather is supple and the fleece does not show the usual wear at the cuffs and rear, It doesn’t seem it was heavily used at the time. It does have a very small patch of ww2 green camo paint on the collar but it’s hard to spot and seems contemporary so best left alone. An original jacket that has had no work or repairs and in this condition is now becoming difficult to find even with ‘specialists’.

There is a faint name and squadron number on the label (L. AWL 26) but I have no information on the person.

The second item is a very nice mounted and framed original pencil drawing, approx. 21”x17”, of a Lancaster in flight, with original signatures by the following ww2 airmen:

MRAF Sir Michael Beetham GCB CBE DFC AFC

Squadron leader Reg Lewis DFC

Captain Eric M. “winkle” Brown

Flight Sergeant John Carrington

Flight Sergeant Ken Johnson

Flying Officer Edgar Childs DFM

Squadron Leader Trevor Peacock

Squadron Leader Tony Iveson DFC AE

Flight Lieutenant Tom Austin DCF AE

Flight Lieutenant Harry Hughes DFC DFM AE

Flight Lieutenant John L. Cox DFC

Squadron Leader L.S. “Benny” Goodman

Flight Lieutenant David Francis DFC

Flight Sergeant Edwin Wheeler DFC

Flight Lieutenant Gordon H. Mellor

Flight Sergeant Jim McGillveray

Flight Lieutenant Edwin Stocker DSO DFC

WO Cal Younger

Flight Engineer Arthur Smith

WO Charlie Flint

Ian Hunter

Wing Commander Max Meyer DFC

WO Alfred Hubermann

WO Eric L. Davis

WO Harry Irons DFC

Laurie Godfrey 408 Sq. RCAF

I have attached a word doc with some zoomable pictures to illustrate. Both items can be viewed in person by arrangement.

As I said I do wish to sell both items as a pair even though not directly related, and would want £1500 total (firm), with any buyer arranging collection at their own expense from the Portsmouth UK area.

Best Regards

John Lloyd

I wish, I wish, I wish I had £1500 to spend on something like this but I'm afraid it's way out of my price bracket. I have seen the jacket and can confirm its quality - It's also been authenticated by the original manufacturer.
