2. Administrators fruitbat Posted June 6, 2013 2. Administrators Posted June 6, 2013 Did not know about an emergency parachute system for light aircraft, very cool idea and almost certainly saved the pilots life. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-gloucestershire-22798139 The parachute was designed by BRS Aerospace based in Minnesota, USA, in 1975, when company director - Boris Popov - survived a 400-ft fall in a collapsed hand glider. "I think this is our 295th person that's been saved with the use of our system," said current CEO and president Larry Williams. "Here's a guy who literally was able to deploy the system and walk away, essentially uninjured from this. "Probably the most gratifying thing in terms of what we do is when someone comes around and says, 'Hey, I deployed your system and it saved my life'. That's very rewarding". Quote
DD_Arthur Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 I note one of the witnesses was a Dave Shatford - how apt! Quote
DD_Bongodriver Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Thought so, it looks like an SR22, they come with BRS fitted as standard, it's on the American reg interestingly, wonder if it's a US visitor or a brit with FAA license. Quote
