Gothkrieger
Not a bad sim, don't like the gun sight modeling much, chasing the crosshair around is my main beef. The lock into gun sight view not bad but limits vision to the forward too much.
rox
Do the stats on ATAG take a while to update? My yesterday's kills are not counted in. It is a very serious obstacle to enjoying the game for me since it's not about flying or having fun at all but about point whoring... 1. DDz Quorum DD_Fenrir Posted March 29, 2013 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted March 29, 2013 Awesome screenies Arthur! I'm with Todd; hi-res version of him brushing past that 88 please! I need a new desktop.
1. DDz Quorum FoolTrottel Posted March 29, 2013 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted March 29, 2013 Great shots Arthur! Look a bit further on in the track Arthur, me attacking a Stuka (and eventually really BIGTIME HITTING it with al my Blenmeight) should also be a good sight! rox
Does anyone have an idea why my anti aliasing fix is not working anymore? I fiddled with nVidia control panel global settings but now I switched everything back to application-controlled yet still my AA fix is not working? I tried coppying the files into the clod folder again but to no avail. :/ Those sharp jagged edges really hurt.
rox
Escorted a flight of Wellingtons over France, shot up some attacking 109's, and while returning shot up at least 3 Ju-88 of which I got a claim for at least one, at the expense of my aileron controls. Despite this I still managed to shoot at one for a while, and just as I was expending my last bullets (only MG's on one side were still shooting) a 109 bounced me and hit my oil radiator. I went into a vertical dive to escape and luckily wasn't followed as my engine quit when I pulled out of the dive. I was now in the middle of the channel at some 8000ft perhaps and barely glided over the cliffs of Dover to crash land into a small field inland, my flaps and gear also failing to deploy from the damage. Just after making sure there are no building s in front of me as I landed I noticed a small wall that gave me a heart attack, but I think collision isn't modeled for it, or I just narrowly missed it. T_O_A_D
You have to run some sort of SweetFx, FlightFX etc. to correct the jaggies. Trying to force it with game settings or Nvidia just doesn't work. I'm using FlightFX myself and only correcting the AA with the Ultra SMAA set to max. I've seen some screen shots from an old friend Gozr with more tweaked that look real nice, but he has yet to give out his configuration on it yet. 1. DDz Quorum DD_Fenrir Posted April 3, 2013 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted April 3, 2013 That's no wall Rox, that's a railway line (you mistake the ballast for stone wall). Even more glad you didn't end up on it - surviving all that only to get hit by the local 17:47 to Sheperdswell would have been an ignomious end indeed! rox
It's supposed to be the Pause/Break key from what I've read, and while there is a very slight difference it isn't much compared to before when it worked... I jumped into a Spit 1 by accident and decided to fly it through, man this plane is a pain to fly. The coarse pitch is useless for anything but diving, the fine pitch requires lots of work on the throttle, flight with rather low boost settings and a third eye just to look at the RPM gauge constantly. After flying around for some half an hour and shooting at a few far 109's but not hitting anything, I noticed that my oil temp was not nearly as high as it usually is in the Spit 2a, so I thought this one may handle more RPM's so I pushed it to +3200 and after about 4 seconds the engine died It then dawned on my that, correct me if I'm wrong, an engine can sustain damage by simply spinning too fast regardless of temperature. So I went for another field trip in the beautiful Kent countryside.
T_O_A_D
go 80/80 prop/throttle, only go 100 on prop on take off and landing, and exceptions in battle, but not very long, like a short climb. You can go to 100 on throttle with pitch at 80 for a spell, but I wouldn't for extended amounts of time.
1. DDz Quorum DD_Fenrir Posted April 5, 2013 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted April 5, 2013 No 80% PP available on a Mk1 (no 'a') Spit there Todd! Only coarse or fine pitch available. Guys for a good explanation on Spitfire props and the general differences between fixed, variable and constant speed units for all aircraft watch this video; NOTE: This video details the A2A Simulations Spitfire for FSX and cannot be translated directly to CloD, in particular the current two pitch prop modelling for the Spitfire MkI in CloD is incorrect as you cannot tweak between coarse/fine pitch; takeoff in fine and anywhere above 120mph go to coarse. Fly level to pick up speed, get to 160-180mph indicated then start your climb. Yes, in coarse at the lower end of the airspeed range you will have crap revs and power - thats just the way it is! So keep your speed up. As rule of thumb - with a CSU you set a desired RPM for the engine and the prop endeavours to maintain that RPM whatever speed/throttle setting... IF IT CAN. With a two pitch/variable you must adjust the RPM depending on your speed/throttle - Speed goes above 120mph, prop lever comes back is a simple rule. Your aim is to prevent the rpm exceeding 3000rpm. rox
I find it much more usable on fine pitch though, just with lower boost, it can maintain 2800 revs only it requires constant throttle control. If it jumps over 3000 for a few seconds by accident you can pull it back down with no apparent damage.
