Mosh Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 http://www.liveleak....=ace_1338726717 I'm not sure the language in the video. I know that it was found in Norway. The plane apparently had crashed on landing. Also worth noting it's the only "surviving" plane of it's type. Quote
BadAim Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 It's amazing how many of these rare aircraft are being recovered from the worlds lakes and oceans! Good job guys, and thanks for posting Mosh. Quote
T_O_A_D Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 It took me over an hour to actually get the video to load and even then it was jerky. Amazing shape short the damage taken from either war or landing. I wonder how they will flip it right side up, without adding more scares? I also wonder how deep it was and if there is anymore of it to bring up, or did float around a bit upside down before its floats came off and it sunk. Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted June 4, 2012 2. Administrators Posted June 4, 2012 According to reports TOAD, the floats and one engine were salvaged shortly after the aircraft came down and before it sank after a crash landing in '42. The project is being organised by the Flyhistorisk Museum in Sola, Norway. The condition does appear to be remarkable especially given it's inverted position, My belief is it was pretty well down as the reports go on to say that the condition is due to the low oxygen content present in the water. The museum is already in possession of a BMW 312 engine and a pair of floats, which are currently being restored for this project. Jabo 1 Quote
