1. As the event is now only days away, on request of the 'Event Liason Officer' I am hearby bumping this thread for an updated head count! So, who's in?
2. From this year: Click here for video
3. Prolly a licence-built Allison Kidding aside, I agree that one of a kind is very special - to the point of being unique... I'll get my coat. Jabo Actually I'm led to believe it is in fact an original (reconditioned of course) AM-38. Check the video again and you'll notice the cowlings all seem accurate to the type, plus the tell tale sign is the rotation of the propeller which is the opposite to an Allison. I stand corrected, it is indeed Allison powered, and must have an opposite handed gearbox from a P-38 or summat. Whatever, it's a beauty! It was restored in the same facility that recently brought the Mig-3 back to life and rumour has it that the IL-2 is set to join the Fw-190 at the Flying Heritage Collection stateside.
4. Well, I never thought this would actually happen, but some clever chaps in Russia have restored one of our beloved IL-2s to airworthy. This is quite a momentous moment for warbird preservation, up there with the recent (real) Fw-190 resto. Crazy to think that this is the only flying example of one of the most produced aircraft in history.
5. One of the best pieces written for a battle sequnce in a movie in my opinion. Here performed at the BBC proms a few years ago, superb:
6. Excellent stuff bongo. One thing I noticed, the head mounted camera really illustrates just how much time you spend scanning and checking your surroundings. Lovely curved approach too
8. It was fine last night after all this. But then it was intermittent anyway, I'll see how it goes! Thanks for your help mate
9. Crap start to the weekend. My cat got hit by a car last night, he's at the vet now, probably going to lose a leg. Poor fella :(

Thanks for all your kind words chaps! Milo is doing very well indeed, considering. I'm thinking about putting together a blog of his recovery with video and picture updates. It'll be interesting to see how he develops physically and mentally over the coming weeks and months. One thing's for sure, he hasn't lost his appetite!

That would be interesting to see. We have a few of Shammie, the dog I told you about, when she was in her plastic collar stage post amputation. My bet is once he adapts, he won't even notice. Shammie sure didn't!

Cars an cats..

Sorry to hear you had to go through this, our young Tom got hit earlier this year. Spent the night out - neighbours told us a cat had been hit. When he returned he had a nasty gash in his side. £650 later vet sewed it up and he is as right as rain - and won't go near the road now!

10. Basically, someone has taken the music video for one of Michael Buble's hit songs and written and recorded an entirely new song based on what could be interpretted by lip reading him in said video. It's ingenious!

12. This. is. Brilliant! What a talented bunch of guys. Also,
13. Thanks for the advice guys, I really appreciate it. I had a strange occurrence last night during my D/F with Zooly, which may or may not be related... After we passed each other in combat, I suddenly lost all sound (inc TS) and my frames dropped from a steady 35 down to about 3. Trying to manually quit IL2 took some time as the mouse was yet again lagging all over the place. Once back to desktop, I checked and my CPU was flat out, so i closed TeamSpeak (audio still gone at this point) and after that everything went back to normal. Really frickin weird! Never had that happen before either. It was then fine all night for co-ops...
14. Well, I've not had this issue now for the last few days. Frankly I'm baffled! Dodgy solenoid?? lol
15. Very interesting, thank you for sharing Swep!
