  1. Was there much difference in the late P-51D compared to the Korean war F-51Ds?I think you'll find Fenrir will probably correct us both on this one Nick ;-)
  2. Wow! I need Lego back in my life
  3. Just to reinforce my comment about the press sensationalising things, the following link should explain the situation more clearly as there photos.I don't think I'd want to climb around a Spitfire that's in the middle of restoration with an empty cockpit area. Personally I think the museum did the right thing.Click here Remember there are two sides to every story and the truth is usually somewhere in between.
  4. No worries Leon. We never leave a dog behind...
  5. Ken Wallis, what a legend. I'd love to visit his workshop! In response to the Hercules video, how about this crazy Italian C-27 Spartan at RIAT last year?
  6. Err... My Scalextric looks like a snail compared to this: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=538_1326404901
  7. I believe radium is used on the instruments and is of serious enough concern to collectors and warbirds operators, extra paperwork etc due to health risks. Although, I can't see how this was an issue unless there was a damaged gauge in the cockpit? Also, as a Spitfire pilot sits on his 'chute, perhaps they deemed the bucket of the seat inadequate for a chap of his age without a cushion available? Remember, don't believe everything the sensationalist rags say!
  8. 1. My oldie is in fact a mash-up of two oldies, is that allowed? Actually, It's too good not to post. Enjoy the fusion of two of the greatest rock/metal bands: 2. Now the new one. Another fusion, this time of genres. It's relatively new to me and it's a new-ish song that will polarize opinion i'm sure! Dubstep is like the 'marmite' music right now, personally it's a bit of a guilty pleasure. This I believe is Skrillex's second track with Korn, and fuses their nu-metal sound with dubstep. It's not for the faint hearted :
  9. What Mr Jabo said.In fact I may have a spare bed going as it goes.
  10. Another thing that made me laugh... Keith (Casper) Talbot was also present on this Lyneham camp, and ever the 'heart-throb' he'd set his sights on a particular female cadet from the rival school. She didn't go much on him yakking into a bag that's for sure! Also, cracking video Arthur old chap! Oh, I really need to get gliding again!
  11. You wanna try being a "passenger" in one for a long flight and you might change your mind Jedi! I had the (dis)pleasure of riding in a Herc at RAF Lyneham about 12 years ago with the cadets. We were invited to join the crew as they practiced circuits and bumps around the airbase for around 45mins. I was the only one not to chunder apart from the crew and our accompanying officer, which to this day i'm immensly proud of! :laughing7: One of the freakiest things was looking out the side windows to see the wings wave up and down as the aircraft vibrated it's way into the merky Wiltshire sky. As a lad it astonished me how much flex there was! It was rather impressive jumping up into the flightdeck, that seemd to settle any tummy grumbles I had that's for sure. Fenrir, I believe you had a similar experience, did you not?
  12. Happy New Year everyone! Here's to a positive and prosperous twenty twelve despite the gloomy and depressing socioeconomic outlook!
  13. Couple of great vids there chaps! Here's one from me, I have this airshow on DVD, it's fabulous. Warbirds over Wanaka NZ 2004. A unique formation indeed:
  14. I feel like I've eaten a weeks worth of food in two days. It's a good job I'm pouring plenty of liquid down my neck, to make sure I'm suitably lubricated! Happy boxing day all! Aah the joys of cold meat, mash potatoes and pickle... What's that? More Christmas pud?... Oh go on then!
  15. Oh, what an unexpected Xmas present! Makes for interesting reading. Have to agree, the AI improvements look great. Two weeks to release?...
  16. Nice vid mate. Song is Sail by AWOLNATION, electro rock band signed by Red Bull apparently! Heard it a few times this year on iTunes radio and quite like it. Continuing the avtur theme, and this one really is music to my ears! Probably one of the greatest noises in aviation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNvCVQcVwgE&feature=youtube_gdata_player
  17. Bang on Jabo! Never been before, plenty to see and lots of rare birds indeed. I will upload my piccies soon. But for now another video:
  18. Oh nice find mate! I do love the Mossie. In fact, I looked at one only yesterday. A real one I can assure you. Can you guess where I was?
  19. Happy Bithday fellow voice doppelgänger! Hope you had a great day. ;-) ( so we sound similar, have birthdays only days apart... Both pilots... Oh wait a minute :-/)
  20. Another one from me, an aircraft I never knew existed! Evaluation of the Soviet Yak-23 by USAF
  21. Not quite dear chap. The pilot for this one is on the ground with a transmitter
  22. As posted by gdenney on the key forums: "Yesterday (9/12/11), history was made at RAF Takali in Malta when the Malta Aviation Museum's airworthy Tiger Moth flew into it's new home for the first time. A section of one of the original runways at Takali has been reactivated and will be used by the Tiger Moth." Read all about it here
