  1. Chris, given that my 2080ti outperforms a 3070 (not by huge amounts,  but it does across every feature), and I'm looking to upgrade my 2080ti because of VR, read into that what you will.

However, that said, it means that a 3070 will give you only marginally less quality in VR, than i have currently, which is still better than a lot of people on entry level, but not enough for me to use it consistently (I've ruined myself by having a 4k monitor for 3 years plus).

As an aside, the new Ryzen is likely to get dethroned pretty quickly by the upcoming 11th gen intel chips arriving quarter 1 this year. Also, if you look at that spreadsheet crash linked, you'll see everyone is running there cpu's overclocked @ the 5ghz mark.....

  2. m2 NVMe drives are between 5 to 7 times faster than a sata III ssd and even more quicker than that over sata II SSD's.

Could you get away with, sure, will VR performance be better with m2 NVMe drives, yes.

You could still use the old drives as well.

Undoubtedly the new chips would push the price up! Regarding chips, I wouldn't be paying to much attention to stock core speeds, more to overclocked speeds easily attainable (easy to google), not all chip types overclock  as well as others, and you will be wanting to overclock for VR. A good mobo here is really important, its something that a lot of people scrimp a bit on a new build, but there's no point trying to drop a v12 into a morris minor..... Liquid cooling is defiantly something i would recommend these days to.

    • Thanks 1
  3. 16 gig is not enough, get 32 (I'm actually thinking about upgrading to 64).

Check the mobo to see if it has at least 2 m2 SSD slots.

Only use m2 SSD drives (other than having maybe a back up drive). You'll get the best VR performance by having windows on one m2, and your VR games on another.

FYI, intels 11th gen chips are just around the corner, and look very promising.

The CBU-97 consists of an SUU-66/B tactical munition dispenser that contains 10 BLU-108 submunitions. Each submunition contains four hockey-puck-shaped sensor-fused projectiles called Skeets. These detect target vehicles, such as tanks, armored personnel carriers, trucks and other support vehicles, and fire an explosively-formed penetrator downwards at them.

    Operation[edit]

    CBU-97 SFW (8steps attacking process) NT.PNG

The 40 Skeets scan an area of 1,500 by 500 feet (460 m × 150 m) using infrared and laser sensors, seeking targets by pattern-matching. When a Skeet finds a target it fires an explosively-formed penetrator to destroy it. If a Skeet fails to find a target, it self-destructs 50 feet (15 m) above the ground; if this fails, a back-up timer disables the Skeet. These features are intended to avoid later civilian casualties from unexploded munitions, and result in an unexploded-ordnance rate of less than 1%.

As the CBU-97 approaches its designated aim-point, the dispenser skin is severed into three panels by an explosive cutting charge. The slipstream peels away these panels, exposing the 10 BLU-108 submunitions. An airbag ejects the forward five submunitions, then five in the aft bay. Following a preset timeline, the submunitions deploy parachutes so that they are spaced about 100 feet (30 m) apart. Then each submunition releases its chute, fires a rocket motor that stops its descent and spins it on its longitudinal axis, and releases Skeets 90 degrees apart, in pairs. Each spinning Skeet makes a coning motion that allows it to scan a circular area on the ground.

The laser sensor detects changes in apparent terrain height such as the contour of a vehicle. At the same time, infrared sensors detect heat signatures, such as those emitted by the engine of a vehicle. When the combination of height contours and heat signatures indicative of a target are detected, the Skeet detonates, firing an explosively-formed penetrator (EFP), a kinetic energy penetrator, down into the target at high speed, sufficient to penetrate armor plating and destroy what is protected by it. Even well-armored vehicles such as main battle tanks, while having massive armor protection on the front and sides, are only lightly armored above,[2] and relatively easily penetrated. Each bomb can spread penetrators over an area of 15 acres (61,000 square metres) or more. According to an ABC News consultant, an attack by this bomb would basically stop an armored convoy moving down a road. While the bomb was designed during the Cold War for fighter-bombers flying at low altitude below radar cover to attack Soviet tanks, a single B-52 high altitude heavy bomber can destroy an entire armored division with these bombs, where in the past dozens of aircraft would have had to drop hundreds of bombs for the same effect.

Have you been waiting too long for ED's CMS DTC feature? Wait no longer! Roll for initiative with DiCE and use the DCS Special Options menu to edit countermeasure programs!

Download DiCE v3 from the ED Userfiles here:

    https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.c...files/3312680/

Hello and welcome to DiCE: DCS Integrated Countermeasure Editor. DiCE allows you to use the DCS Special Options menu to change and modify the flare and chaff countermeasure programs of various DCS aircraft, for example the F-18C and F-16C. DiCE is a solution to DCS's not yet implemented DTC (Data Cartridge) CMS function.

    The README includes:

    -Introduction

    -Install Instructions

    -How it works

    -Common or Possible Issues

    -Acknowledgments and Credits

Huge thanks to all of the people who helped out with DiCE!

    FAQs:

    Q: Is DiCE IC safe?

A: Yes, DiCE passes Integrity Check so you can use it for Single Player and Multiplayer.

Q: Does the DiCE mod remember your CM settings after DCS updates?

A: DCS should remember the Special Options menu so all you would have to do is press 'OK' in the Special Options menu for the aircraft to get its countermeasure profiles back after a DCS update.

    Q: What aircraft are included?

    A: F-18C, F-16C, A-10C, A-10C2, AV-8B, M2000C.

Q: I have DCS installed in Program Files. Why does DiCE crash when I try to edit a countermeasure profile?

A: DiCE does not have the privileges to write to Program Files. The current solution is to either run DCS as Admin, or manually start DiCE as Admin.

  6. If I was just going to fly the Hornet and nothing else, which I'm not, I might of considered the Winwing stuff, but i prefer the Virpil stuff personally.

I think for pedals though I'm going to go for MFG Crosswind pedals though,

    mfg-crosswind-v2-grey.jpg

And it better last more than 3 years at that price!!!!!

If 3080s aren't available but 3090s are, then it will have to be one of them :) @fruitbat I have seen them but I was too chicken to buy! ONLY £1799 :startle:

I know they're ridiculously expensive, but I'm going to get one, as coupled with the Reverb 2, will be able to run pretty high settings.

However, its slipped down the order of things I'm getting though, I'm seriously considering replacing all i currently fly with with these,

    vpc-009-r_05.png

200mm stick extension, (might go with the 100mm undecided on this currently).

    And throttle,

These last 2 can be mounted together, although I'll have the the other way around,

The cost of this is also insane, but an investment!!!!!

  9. For some reason the saved games location doesn't work for some planes,  notably the f 14 springs to mind.

    It should, but, hey DCS....

I've taken to putting all my skins in the path FT linked, as that always works!
