  1. Nice job Eshark. I just counted all the flying models that are in the house and went....am I nuts? I have 27 of them. They fill up my computer room, family room and there are two large unfinished and one finished in the basement work shop and two out in my shed with the lawn equipment. The little lady of the house does not rail on me about it. This is why I am not building any more new planes. I plan on reparing a wing on one of my mustangs over the winter. Had a little run in with a mates jet on the ground. Scratched his paint a little and fractured the leading edge of my outer left wing panel. Plane got away from me on transition from two wheels to three when the tail surfaces became useless and a gust of wind turned it into his plane on the sideline. I was landing on a hard surface runway at the time. When on grass this never happens. Creating a model from scratch or from a kit has always been a pleasure to me, ansd to see how close I can make it to look real. You DD's take plastic scale modeling to a new level of realism. Now go build one that flies and enjoy seeing something you created come alive and fly!
  2. Painless flew like his life depended on it in some of those races and he ACED all of the bonus rounds, then was first to land in the death race on his first attemp!!!!! I guess teaching short field landings in BFS paid off eh Painless. Mr. Thor2 figured that out because he did it the first time in a 109G2 no less.

    Salute To Bg

BG, Jim, What can I say that has not been said by all the other members of the Danger Dogs, Your kind and cheerfull voice was always there to greet us. You and Painless where the reason I joined the DDs. You have fought the brave fight and you and I and others are fighting the same fight in our own way. Your courage will be remembered for a long time. you were an excellent student at JO and Jim you will be missed during our weekly flying together. You were always a voice of reason and an example for all of us to follow. God Bless, Fair winds, and blue skies my friend. Sincerely, Funflak. Gary Webb
  4. The F4 is one of my faviorites also. I always said that if Darth Vader flew a jet it would be an all Black F-4 Phantom...hehehehehehe Great job on your model ~S~
  5. Thanks Snacko, the F-16 was built and flown in the early 90s and was then powered by an OS .91 ducted fan engine on glow. It turns the fan about 24,000 rpms and produced about 12 pounds of thrust. The plane weights just at 11 1/2 pounds. It would fly at speeds of 150 mph.. The fan is 5" in diameter. This plane was modeled after the squadron commmanders plane at Wright -Patterson AFB hear locally and was an Air Force Reserve unit. These planes were kept in brand new condition and if you look at the gun port on the left side there is a shiney area around the gun port. They did not like powder burns in the paint from firing the gun so they clear coated the area so it would be easier to clean. I was given cart-blaunch around the plane to take photos and measurments. Was prividleged to go through there maintence hanger and set in this plane. They even supplied me with the actual paint they use to touch them up so the color on the model is the exact paint and color as the real plane. Judges couldn't take any thing away from color or markings huh? Our club lost the field that we were flying from when the owner died and her kids sold the land. It had a paved runway. The field that I fly from now is all grass and planes like this can not fly form them, just like my Baron. It would tear the retracts right out of them. Wheels are two small. Model aviation has allowed me to have many opportunities to be around many full scale planes and meet there pilots that I would not have had the chance if not for model aivation.
  6. OK here goes, Hanging in the room is my Byron F-16, a SE5A ( had to get a WWI model in there) built back in the mid seventies and is a control line model, then comes my Byron Beech Baron Twin, Then an Extra 300 ARF that one of our foreign exchange students built and flown while here. He was from Sweden. Then my Bell Jet Ranger Helicopter painted to match one of our local TV stations heli. Numorous photos and also one wall is covered with various awards I've won over the years flying and one for drag racing in my 1970 Big Block Corvette many years ago. The one photo of the sign was done in needle point by my wife. She has done three different pieces of art in the room. This one was a reminder from when we went on a trip in my plane years ago, and when leaving a small airport at our destination this sign was at the exit from the airport. Gary
