  1. Both GK and I tried Cachya, and found problems getting it to work in IL2 - The main issue is that it takes mouse pointer control from the mouse all the time it's loaded, so if you've loaded the tracking program first (it doesn't work at all the other way round in any case), then your mouse pointer goes whizzing about your desktop as you move your head. This raises bigger problems in game with regard to scrolling and resizing the map for instance. FreeTrack solves that problem, but I was never 100% happy with the setup despite assistance from the erstwhile Jedi and others, probably had more to do with the way I built the headset than the actual system. Despite the price, I haven't found anything that works as well as TIR, and with the minimum about of messing about too. Plug it in and hey presto! Jabo
  2. Ah yes, the very brilliant David Armand, he's got a couple of other performances on youtube, definitely worth a look if you've not seen them before Jabo
  3. Further to my earlier post, it is my sad duty to inform you that B-17 'Pink Lady' made her last flight on 28th September 2008. A victim of 9-11, she has been grounded for good by spiralling insurance costs. This means that Sally-B is now the only flying B-17 in Europe. Jabo
  4. Count me in. Nice find Delta
  5. Yeah, it's possible. You'll either need a graphics card with an HDMI socket, or use a DVI-HDMI adaptor. I've run the game on the 42" LG in the front room, and it's been OK. Not mindblowing, but definitely playable.
  6. 'Fraid not Zooly - The only intact example is the one that belongs to the RAF Museum, and that is emphatically not a example that will be restored to flight status. It'll be nice to see it back at Hendon when the work's been completed tho, it's been looking a little tired of late. I'm not sure if the Battle's back there yet either, something to do with the wings not fitting when it came back from the restoration people! Jabo

    This Movie???

    Like that's an issue m8
  8. With you there m8, plus, if you use TIR with the pro clip, or freetrack, it's difficult to position the uinit
  9. Ignore the PC World thing m8, just had another look at the photo, and realised you're looking at a wireless one. Eclipse have that though at around £65. Personally, I really rate the HS-1000 that I just got from them. It comes with 2-3m of cable, and the sound quality is fab (especially with the latest drivers and the virtualisation switched on!) Jabo
  10. Not sure how much you're paying for that m8, but PC World have it for £25 (down from £40) if you reserve on-line and collect from the store. The website will tell you if your local branch has stock. If not I'd be happy to pick one up for you and post it on. My Creative set came from http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/ though and I've found them to be very competitive as well. Good range of stock in too. Imagine a high-street retailer in the UK with an X52 on display and boxed stock! Jabo

    This Movie???

Funny, don't remember any German planes in that, but the film in general was so awful, I may be in denial. Jabo
  12. Thanks for the intel Rattler, I've not had a chance to play with this setting yet this evening, but hopefully I'll get the chance before tomorrow night's shindig. Jabo
  13. Good choice Sweper, that's the chipset I run in my rig - I'm running IL2 in 1680x1050, with the graphics settings turned up to til the knob fell off, and I'm still averaging 60fps in the Black Death track. I've been verry happy with it too. My card is the factory-overclocked BFG one, but I've read that the XFX cards are pretty rapid straight out of the box too, so you might not need to overclock it just yet
  14. Nice pics HC. Wish we could see some of those birds over here. Your 'Unknown' is a Fairey Firefly - Heavy carrier fighter used extensively by the FAA late in WW2 and on as late as Korea in the ASW/ASR role (ISTR) Jabo
  15. Thanks for clearing up the complex business of Anglo-French relations there Smash m8. It's much easier to understand in terms of "Fetchez la vache" - and the use by the perfidious French of the cattlepult. Sorry Jabo
  16. Well, it looks like Bill's crowd have done it again... Vista Home Premium (32 Bit) - Passmark Result 1135 Windows 7 (32 Bit)
  17. Having recently migrated to Windows 7 myself, and having noticed that a number of other DDz have/are also going down the same route, I thought it might be useful for those chaps who havent yet gone there to know what works and what doesn't. So far, this is where I am; All working in Windows 7 (x86 - 32 bit) Trackir v5.0.220 (or Beta 3) Nvidia WHQL Drivers for Windows 7 (9800GTX/GTX+) v185.85 - There are issues with the standard driver that ships with Win 7 Saitek 6.2.2.4 (X52 Pro) Saitek 6.2.2.4 (Direct Output for X52 Pro) Firefox 3.0.10 Avira AntiVir Personal Creative Fatal1ty USB Headset Realtek HD Audio Manager (not sure of version, will check - Std Vista though) Logitech G15 (needs to be run in Compatiblity mode (Vista)) Not working in Windows 7 McAfee Total Protection 2009 I'll add more as I find 'em, but that's it for now Jabo
  18. You can't tell just by looking m8, RT is the only way to be certain. Jabo
  19. Use the modded version Sulky, just remember to select the 4.08 button. I have to confess that since moving to the AAA mods, I dumped the other 3 installs of the game that I had, including the 'vanilla' version. Next time there's a big change to the mods, I'll make a copy of this version...Just seems simpler. Especially with FTs great mod checker to keep things straight for me... Jabo
