  1. No, the other Prince of Darkness. A certain Mr. Osbourne? And no, I don't mean George.
  2. double room - no singles available (apparently). Congestion charge is £8 per day plus 24hrs parking at £10. Will most likely book tomorrow.
  3. congestion charge would be £16 - so £26 for two days + parking at the hotel
  4. Looking like about £90 a night.
  5. You were never off the list Nick. I intend to use my normal method when dealing with the French, just talk more LOUDLY AND SLOOOWLY. Just a thought -you know those St George flags that ppl stick on their cars for the World Cup etc - Could we get a white one for the minibus? I'd love to go back to the Intrepid Fox in Camden - met the Prince of Darkness there back in the 80's Jabo
  6. Now you mention it...hmmm. I'll call the Days Innn tomorrow Jim, should have some idea of prices later. Jabo
  7. Yep, FW P.II, proof positive that by June 1943, Kurt Tank had completely lost the plot - fortunately for the pilots, this aircraft never went beyond the drawing board. You can find out more here, and more about Luftwaffe secret projects at www.luft46.com Jabo
  8. Poss the same thing they're putting the 'new' Yaks? Jabo
  9. Wasn't sure with t'other Nick back around, but thanks!
  10. Do you mean me? I do like the Beau - I admit it. Happiness is truly a pair of big bristols. Looking forward to the finished article m8. Jabo
  11. I may have mixed up the tenses here, english not being my first language and all. The original FW190 used the BMW and Junkers engines (I don't think they've built the 801 for a while lol.) The FlugWerk examples appear to be using the Ash-82 according to their website (the Ash-82 is a development of the M-25 (a licence-built Soviet version of the Wright Cyclone)) This engine powered the LA-5 and LA-7 during the war, but there's no indication of production continuing to the present day. Soooo, these are either refurbished engines, or I'm wrong. Hopefully the latter - I'd hate to pick up my shiny new 190 and find the engine had been languishing in a Riussian field for the last 50 years. Jabo
  12. Mick, given that we can both take three additional people in our respective vehicles, we could manage to get Jim, Helen, Pooka, Joanne (apologies if I've mispelled that Pook!), JP, Jedi and me and thee there in two cars - easy or wot! Dunno about the Black Bull Jim seeing as I didn't get there last time, but I'll do some digging. Jabo
  13. With you, Jim and Pook all there for a few days, it'd be a shame to miss out on the Smoke. Heathrow's nice, but there's more to London than that. Jabo
  14. That's bad - and probably the source of your problems - chkdsk /r might sort that at least enough to get the machine back up, but I think you're going to need a new drive. If the drive is currently mounted as a slave in another machine, chkdsk can be run from the command prompt. If it's still in the original machine boot from your XP (or other OS) disk, and hit 'R' to launch the recovery console (I think it's on the first or second page you get). This will give you a sort of command prompt window where chkdsk as well as a heap of other useful utilities can be run. Jabo
  15. Have you tried running chkdsk /r from the command prompt Glenn? It's a quick and dirty way of checking the disk for bad sectors (and repairing them) - might help to provide a pointer to your issue.
  16. Actually Jedi, this might be a good plan. If you can get to Coventry, I'll meet you there and we can travel down South together. Means that you don't need to travel on your own too far, although the downside is you get to travel with me...lol Jabo P.S. We can squeeze in a quick look at the Cathedral if you like, it's only 5 mins from the station.
  17. Weeeell, I might go to Duxford Jim, but I'm sure I can squeeze in a day in London (although it's a bit scary). Are you planning to travel to Dux on Friday? Hiring a car or do you need a lift? Jabo
  18. There's lovely. Happy birthday you two. Have a good one (s) Jabo
  19. Sadly, this is the first time there will be no veterans of the Great War at today's service in London. Gone but not forgotten. ~S~
  20. Why does this indicate a HDD fault? I would have thought (in my ignorance) that a fault related to memory would indicate a memory fault. Jabo
  21. Don't think so Glenn, you've more likely got a stick of memory on the way out. Quick way to check (this assumes you have four memory slots and all four have memory in) 1) Remove all the memory 2) Install 1 stick in slot 1 and boot the machine. If it boots or fails to boot, power down and move the stick to slot 2. Repeat until all four slots are tested 3) If it boots in some slots but not others, then the slots where the machine fails to boot are defective - time for a new mobo. 4) If the machine fails to boot at all with the stick in any of the slots, then you have a defective stick. Go back to step 2 and try the other sticks (you may have more than one faulty stick!) 5) If this doesn't throw up any errors at all, run memcheck from the UBCD on each stick in turn until you get a fault. If still no fault, clear the error log, and install a couple of new sticks of RAM (they're pretty cheap) and keep an eye on the error log to see if the problem returns. Jabo
