  1. yup, with retro active laws being allowed now (for political capitol), and all the tech availible to the state, and the end of due process rts in the US, 1984 is on the way. The govt will control the pizza deliveries......resistance is futile, you will be assimilated.
  2. cool.....if u were here in America , it wouldnt do you much good though...the judges here all make up the law as they go along and pretty much ignore precedent and the actual legislation.....as long as its adverse to the state. Good luck. Now you can buy more goodies to make the sim run better. :?
  3. well still be flying il2 for several yrs...the new adons are adding alot of life to it, and it will be some yrs before its ever even close to this diversity. ive read the new med map will not have malta because its reserved for the new series.......interesting. I also saw in that interview where oleg said they got over the stupid forbidden subject of legalities by not using the aircraft company names, just the aircraft names. man, are these morons running these outfits missing the boat or what? they turn down free advertising and name exposure. I just hope if they ever do Carriers that they stagger the planes on deck, liek they really were....nobody took off wingtip to wingtip.....sheeesh. mustve been in a hurry that day.
  4. Wow!!! Seafires and a sunderland. A rare shot of RAF jugs. A little attention in photoshop would help the damage....ill see what i can do. These are priceless. Thanks for helping preserve such for future reference. God knows how many pix are laying around or even discared accidentally. The seafire on the lighter is interesting. and the crane lifting one...wow. of course, i dont see a tail hook, so those could be RAF spits...look at the camo job. I wonder what the colors are.....I dont think that's grey and green. dunno. and that transport....isnt that a viscount? I dont have my ref books handy. where all did he serve? if you have any info like that, we would all be fascinated to hear.
  5. sged old boy, (im using my phony RAF accent here, cherio) there was HUGE debate on this subj on the main il2 ubi forum; this is why the incredulous responses-its old teritory to many on here. WHile anything is possible, fifties and 75s (and even 76s) were USUALLY no match for a tiger. Badaim has it correct. several incidents of point blank from behind shots, track shots, and one particular one where a churchill stopped one with a lowly 6 pdr (57mm pop gun); the AP round lodged between the turret and chassis in about the only spot it could have, and jammed the turret. After beign tormented by a mob of british tanks, the crew un-assed the tank and went home. Sometimes shermans actually rammed tigers. Shermans were good vehicles, but lousy weapons, until 44 anyway. this incident was the begining of alot of hooey about how effective the lousy 57 was until it became obvious that it was useless. If the canadian unit had 75s, they would have had to use different tactics (like retrreating). it was rare that entire units had fireflys wiht the 17pdr (about 76mm, but wiht a HUGE shellcasing behind it-the basic equivalant to the 75 on the panther). Most units had a few fireflys and many 75 or 76mm shermans. the US army finally fielded a unit with them at the end of the war, but it ended before they were used. It was criminal how badly armed the US army was in its tanks, when better guns were availible. Still took a few rounds to knock out a tiger usually. The old movie "battle of the bulge" was nearly fiction, but it was pretty accurate about tigers vs shermans. Same applies to Panthers as well.
  6. Whoa! he managed to stay awake for 3 days, and when relievd fell asleep and collapsed on his feet. Where does a guy find discipline like that? I pass out after 24 hrs. and taking on snipers wiht a rifle from the turret while his gunner engaged armor wiht the main gun. sheeeesh. I can only assume he was commanding a firefly sherman, since he was able to take out Tiger tanks. Regardless, thats quite a feat taking and holding that town.
  7. This is Major Fisher's A-1E that he won the MOH in for rescuing another spad pilot under fire. He actually landed at an overrun forward field where the other A-1 had bellied in and taxied toward the guy (who was running like hell firing his Browning 9mm at hordes of approaching Charlie). The ohter pilot was climing in (huge 8 man canopy on the E model) while Fisher was firewalling the throttle with mortor rds dropping around him and under heavy fire from at least a company of the bad guys. The ohter officer's Browning P-35 sidearm was also on display, having been used extensively as the guy fired from cover of his A-1 wreck. Those 14 rd magazines sure came in handy that day. The tail of The B-36 is in the background. this is Robin Olds' F-4C that he scored 2 of his 4 mig kills in. He commanded the 4th fighter wing and baited the NVAF up by flying the F-105 route, using thier call signs, even breaking redar contact at Thud ridge for a time. Mig-21s in large numbers intercepted expecting to find heavily loaded F-105s......as Gomer would say "SURPRISE SURPRISE SURPRISE.....SHEZAMM!" The score was 7 zip, 2 nailed by Olds. this is the mount he flew that day. They did the same thing a few days later and nailed 4 of them. Bob Hope called them "the world's largest distrubutor of Mig parts". Olds had scored 20 kills in WW2 against the luftwaffe in 51s and 38s. A mean motor scooter.
  8. As you can see, I was fascinated by those models. I took 2 rolls of slides of those things. Anyway, photography is a pain in there.....gotta set your cams to high iso, and take a pretty powerful external flash, especially in the primary hangar, as its so dark. The ohter bldg was much better lit. They didnt have the storch and the machi there then, but they did have the A-36. I also got this P-63, freshly donated, in the annex bldg. Sort of like a storage area back then with stuff htey hadnt got to yet or didnt have room for in the main bldgs. And then there's this wood sculpture honoring WW1 aviators.....I though this was cool. I got more....just gotta find the most interesting stuff.
  9. Wow, these are great pix. Does that Pheonix have a D engine? Beepops mod of that shot is ripping my guts up. So much great stuff on here! Anyway, Last time I was at the USAF museum was in 89...lots changed since then. I cant believe the missle gallery and the diaramas. One display that may not be exhibited now (youd have noticed it) was the Kettering scratch built model collection, in long display cases down 2 walls of a large hallway as you exited. Im hoping these reduced scans are big enough for you to dnload and magnify the pix to check out these planes. They are made of paper, wood, plastic, string etc. SCATCH built to his own scale-a bit smaller than 1/72. Bigger planes are in a smaller scale i think. See how many of these planes you can ID. Some famous stuff in there. Note the Barling bomber and the NC-4. Heres some luftwaffe and ohter ww2 stuff. Note the Baka on the bottom shelf. Some more ww2...note the B-17 variants. The detail is amazing. Ive got some real close ups somewhere of the ww1 planes, complete with bracing and (get this) some wheels with spokes in them. This guy had way too much time on his hands. Note the B-18. Some jets and civil stuff. These are slides (400 iso Agfha) and are hard to scan properly, even with my new scanner....especially when the light is low. You should see these things projected on a screen....you can stick your nose on them and see all the detail. Check out the Skycrane. Cant lick'em though Dub. Most of one wall of these things. Very hard to photograph thru the cases-these dont do them justice. They were getting bit of wear on them, cracking on some larger ones etc. A cop I knew used to live there when he was in HS, and worked on restoring these things in the early 80s. They are probably being restored again i guess.
  10. Last season, he was on an episode of the EXCELLENT show Navy NCIS, which stars Mark harmon as a former Marine sniper who's a lead investigator in the navy criminal investigation serivice. Durning played a marine vet of Iwo Jima who was tormented by his expreriences, and was also a Medal of Honor recipient. He did a GREAT job of that, in my favorite episode of my 2cd fav show. THe best scene was where a smart ass JAG prosecutor brings 2 marine MPs to arrest him at NCIS for an incident that happened on Iwo, despite the agents' protests. An NCIS agent pulls the MOH out of Durings shirt and the 2 marines snap to and salute smartly....they arent takng him anywhere. Mark Harmon (Gibbs) says "this man stood tall in hell!". An ironicly accurate description of the Actor playing a hero.......I knew he was a vet, as they showed pix of him taken during the war, but i had no idea...... This is undoubtedly why you thought he was on Iwo....probably saw that episode. As Ive said repeatedly before on the ubi forum.....where do we find such men?
  11. I loved it, despite the fact taht my comp crashed at least 5 times, mostly on the last misn. I have since rectified that with the help of my comrades on here. But it was fun....even if i did forget to map controls for my new pilot and wound up shooting at allied planes wiht 2 cowl guns... the pilot of that P47 loaded wiht bombs was pretty lucky. and yes, i can attest to what pschyco says....i was flying CAP (a more realistic scenario to air field attacks i thinK) and nothing was going on in my grid. I hear shootin going all over the place, but my and my Gustav (wiht the 30mm i didnt have mapped-duh) are like showing up at furballs that have already ended. then I hear P blowing charge and attacking allied planes on the ground "I got 5 of em smokin!" "look at em burn! ". Like the guy who stands up and yells something defiant and winds up leading a charge, i couldnt resist going to help.....then i hear him screaming about having allied fighter s all over him, how pissed they are, and I jsut had to get in on this. The adrenalin was actually running as i pulled into positoin to cover him, gunned a couple of guys in the air (without much effect wiht my puny MGs) and made it thru the laggy AA. That was a blast P. and thanx DT.....this was some of the bst fun ive had on a computer. and im really greatful for the honor of flyin with the dogs and the hounds. woof!
  12. cool, thanx. It performed well sat night.....no crashes. Ill try the stuff you posted.
  13. hell yes im in. Ill buy it first time i see one. When i was a kid I had a milton bradley game called "dogfight", and it was an excellent board game wiht littel D-7s and Spads on stand, manuvers etc by cards and dice. the best thing was the enclosed pamphlet about ww1 air combat. i think i still may have it somewhere....kept it for decades. that got me interested and then i got Billy Bishops great book (never tells you he flew Se-5s...keeps calling them "the new machines"). Then REne foncks book, and some about manfred himself. flying corps was great, so was red baron 2. Looking forward to this.
  14. Excellent photography Dub. You see the problem wiht some of the hangars and the inconsistant level of lighting; you overcame that rather well (or the computer in the cam did). either way, great stuff. lots of changes since i was there in 89. Im wondering about the belle being vandalized on mud island....you had to take a tram to get to the thing, and it was in great shape, mostly restored back in 89, and under a large open air pavillion that protected it (or so it seemed) from elements. I kenw it got vandalized really bad when it was on a pad in the open in memphis for decades, but i had no idea it had gotten in this bad shape. damn. Ill try and find my pics i took of hte paint job when it was fresh....before you tarnished it by licking the thing. heh heh. Check the drones in the background of the XB-70. they had it in a different hangar when i was there. The F-94C by the B-36 wasnt there then either. note the open 2.75 in rocket doors....24 in the nose and 12 in each wing pod. Basically an F-80 with AB and radar etc. Gotta find my shots of some of these and how they looked in 89. lots of changes. damn. and i love the phoenix missle scale model rocket.....I used to do Estes rockets back in the 60s and 70s....designed some of my own. fun. damn damn damn.....well damn. sounds like a great time was had by all. Wish we had a pic of Dub licking the belle. And I had imagined Quazi looking like Steve Austin or Chuck Yeager (NOT)....im so crushed. heh heh......
  15. i gotta go get my moped dn the road......before i stain my drawers.....you guys are really very dangerous....
  16. That's about the 2cd funniest thing Ive seen......(more so DT's rendition than the nutcase getting fanged). Perhaps he was influenced by the old Monty Python routine..." I want to be a lion tamah!"...... This is almost as memorable as the pro-sandanista protestor who sat on the RR tracks to block a Navy train that they claimed was carrying supplies to the Contras...back in the early 80s. preditable results that left me and a friend rolling uncontrollably in the floor. Yeah, we felt a little guilty.... for maybe a second, but then we got over it.....and kept guffawing. That fool somehow survived his own selfindoctrination-induced thought filtering, unlike this poor slob. Oh yeah, come to think of it, I saw that on CNN when it happened.....man these CNN guys are a real hoot.

    ID this

WEll DAMN! I didnt get here in time to put my 2 cents in, but it would hve been ironic for me to have put the id on the enforcer....get it...enforcer ids the enforcer.... man you people have no sense of humor. I DID recognize it though....have an old air progress or some such mag on it. The only reason the USAF bought 2 is because of congressional pressure-as usual the ones who think we should still be using muzzleloaders wanted to scrap the A-10 and build this instead. While it would be a good coin aircraft, the usaf needed a tactical attack plane to take on warsaw pact armor and Air defences. The pipers wouldve been targets to a ZSU or any of the short range SAMs. Cant carry quite as much to deal with such. Im hoped that at least one would make ti to the civie market. The CAvalier project had a much longer engine on it....downright freakish looking. I got an old air classics issue with it on the cover. The enforcer originally retained the 6 .50s I think.....Man this would be a fun plane to fly though. can you imagine the ass-whupin you could put on everyone else wiht this thing (including most jets in the sim). The B-18 had me totally stumped....not even close.
  18. well the second audio drivers set was the one i went to, but i cant find which model number it is, even on the sondra software thingy i use to find such. it just says model 5.1, and thats not how theyre listed. gotta figurfe that one out. the video site i couldnt get to, just got the lousy page cant be displayed blah blah. anyway, im gonna mess with it some more, and try to figure that out. it still hasnt crashed anymore thankfully. well see for sure after tonights festivities. thanks man......
  19. Woo Hoo....I had a great F-ing time! I really appreciate all the great, realistic, and imaginative work doubletap and you guys put into this, and im greatful as hell you let this refugee from the backwoods of Ga. fly with youse guys. I had to fly as "Boxer" most of the time due to some odd server issues i guess, and I changed pilots in such a hurry that i didnt realize i forgot to map my controls till the last misn.....so i was blazing away at guys point blank with 2 mgs.....i kept wondering where the hell the bam bam of the 30mm was on my 109. Whoever was in that bombed up P47 I shot up is really lucky. And I had a great time running the guantlet of naval AA to try and back up Psycho as he pissed off the entire allied air force by attacking thier base-repeatedly (i wish someone had recorded the radio traffic, or that there was a track of this). That was just Klingonish enough to encourage me to tag along. only thing, I usually got over the red base about the time everyone was clawing skyward in a blind rage to get at him. It was pointed out that My 6 computer crashes realistically simulated luftwaffe parts shortages. Flying with so many pilots and from 2 seperate radio rooms really added some realixm to this. and like all real combat, it showed that no battle plan survives the opening moments of contact. Maybe a little less AA or different types next time, though i never got touched by it. :? And I have no comment on the fact that most of the hellhounds were stashed in a motel room.....together.......somewhere. Nope , dont know nothing about that..........
  20. i just wonder what kind of kill marking the F-16 driver is gonna get to put on his plane. i hope it makes airshows like some of the A-10 tank and helicopter killers of the gulf war. He was still alive and squirming a bit when our guys showed up....would have been a bonanza of intelli, but i think they got alot of htat anyway.
  21. Well i flew tonight online and it didnt crash......i think thats the first time i never crashed online. i turned down the acceleration as instructed to standard. I could find no irq conflicts, though that doesnt mean they arent there. so far so good. Im curious as to whats in that hebrew above...way above my pointy head.

  23. roger that....im gonna try and check on that before i sign on to fly tonight... i wouldve earlier, but my F-ing moped transmisn blew on me about as far out in the backwoods as i could get. I pushed and pedled taht thing for miles before a friend i called found some broad with a truck (and she was really strong) that came and rescued me and my Tomos moped. I just got home frm that misadventure. damn. Ill get back to you guys. And yeah, thats some pretty serious conflict if its like those guys clashing. I cant believe all the naval AA i flew through repeatedly and didnt get hit by. thanks, ill get on this.
  24. Despite hte fact that i spent at least 40% of the time trying to get back online after at least 5 crashes to blue screen, i had a blast flying over normandy with the Luftwaffe. As usual, it shows how realistic this thing is.....No battle plan ever survives the initial contact. Man is that for sure. I couldnt get in for a while because it didnt like my callsign, so i flew as "Boxer".... I closed to point blank on a P38 and a p47, scored accurately, pieces went evrywhere, but no real effect......i kept wondering why i couldnt hear my 30mm. I also kept wondering why i couldnt lock my tail wheel. I wondered about ALOT of shit. :? Then once when i crashed computer wise, i came back and crashed on takeoff due to some lag, and the fact that i couldnt lock the TW. It was then i realized that I had forgotten to map my F-ing controls when i made the new pilot. Well, regardless, it was great. and i appreciate belonging to this outfit and especially the guys that saved my bacon a few times. This was fun. Oh, and Pyscho is definitely appropriately named...."im gonna go attack thier base and piss'em off! YEEEEE HAAAAAAA!!!" and then....."Yeah, burn man, i got another one trying to land.......oh....somebody help me! I think Ive Pissed 'em off! But Im going after some more of 'em! Im gonna take a bunch of em with me!!!" I must've gotten killed 3 times going to his aid over those flak traps. Sure was alot of action wherever he was though. I was kinda glad he was on our side (the gloirous Luftwaffe).
  25. if they can use the tora kates (BT13s/T-6s) as devastators in the movie "midway" (what a piece of crap) , then I think you can to. BTW....someone really needs to do a proper movie aobut that battle. war and rememberance did a lousy job of it to.
