  1. ~S~ Chaps, I'm not really concerned with the politics of the matter I just, (like the old fellow who has spent 15 years trying to find them) would LOVE to see some or all of them fly again ! It would be fanastic (if unlikely) to imaging a squadron of Mk II's rushing across the Duxford grass on an actual SCRAMBLE to straff a confirmed Taliban convoy on the M1 heading for London!! I wonder what will eventually happen to them ? Scattered to the four winds to private ownership? All sold to Alan Sugar /Richard Branson/ Elton John ? It's all just a "Scramble in the wind" BTW: are there any other MkII's flying anywhere ? ~S~ P.
  2. ~S~ Dave, What a beautiful airplane that is ! Nice job on the customising. Sounds like the canopy was a bitch but the standard one doesn't look too bad ay ? I know what you mean about masking, one small gap can cause you a world of work to put right! Nice pics M8. Cheers, Mick.
  3. Actually FOUND in Burma. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/defence/9203822/Spitfires-buried-in-Burma-during-war-to-be-returned-to-UK.html cheers Mick
  4. ~S~ Chasps, Well here is the display cabinet I have been boring you about installed in the lounge. I have put the matchbox metal PR Mossie in temporarily just to give an idea of size. "My end" of the lounge LOL Cheers, Mick.
  5. ~S~ Shark M8, I will attempt to add that kind of wear to my 32nd Spit Mk I. Have a look at this guys Spit, it's the most realistic I have ever seen in 32nd scale........ ~S~ P.

  8. ~S~ Swooper sir, See if you can learn the best 10 ready to use in the bar at Duxford when it is your round ~S~ P.,
  9. ~S~ Arthur M8, That raid was indeed one of the all time greats. At The Royal Marines Museum in Portsmouth which while on duty I have been shown round many times with the other guys, that particular story always gets told while we are standing by the St Nazaire exhibit by our ex-Marine guide. Never have our chaps been braver or cooler ! Cheers, Mick.
  10. ~S~ Shark, That is quite a nice effect M8 ! I think it could be incorperated with some other types of weathering and look the muttz nutz Big bugger isn't she ! Cheers, Mick.
  11. ~S~ Chaps, This thread just keeps getting better !! Thanks for sharing ~S~ P.
  12. ~S~ Arjen M8, You are right about the tyres! They have now been "flattened" by putting course sand paper underneath the wheels and carefully holding the wheel itself and rubbing back and forth on the flat table surface. What you can't do is get that "bulge" look in the lower tyre side wall, unless............................ ~S~ Mick.
  13. ~S~ Nick M8, No problem with the antenna, just get a plastic spru from the kit and hold a candle underneath it until it goes soft then pull the two sides away from each other slowly until you get the diameter of "string" you need. Hold still for a few seconds as it cools and then cut to required length.............simples ! ~S~ Mick. EDIT: Ahh Skidders already told you how , didn't see that.
  14. ~S~ SkyPup sir, Glad you liked "Old Blighty" Cheers, P.

  23. ~S~ Chaps, Masking and air brush time ..................... The "sun faded" weathering is done on the upper panels but I need to get all of the decals on before the dirty "wash" goes on to pick out the panel lines and rivetts. Cock ups so far: ------------------------------------- Fix: Broke rear top gun barrel off--------------------------------- Stick back on at completion Broke gunsight off-------------------------------------- Superglued back on. Cracked canopy side panel.---------------------------------------- Live with it. Melted left aileron tip and damaged------------------------------------- Cut off two fingers !! left wing tip with candle !!!!! Ordered 5 new parts from Revell UK (free of charge but 4 to 6 weeks delivery) ~S~ Mick
