  1. I would like to invite everyone here to attend the Abbotsford airshow this year. Beebop and Jensenpark are attending this year with me and I would like to extend the invitation to anyone who can make it. (Emann and Waldo Pepper are also on the short list). Aside from me, the list of dogs that may be attending should be an incentive in itself. We were looking at attending the Saturday show - 12th Aug http://www.abbotsfordairshow.com/ It's not a great airshow, particularly by Nth American Standards although some years are better than others. But it is an opportunity to meet up with some fellow dogs and get some sun & beer and look at airplanes and women. It really is a great combination. Last year Beebop, Jensenpark and myself got together and went and really had a great time. Look at the nerds....... Pacific Prowler Val Halla And of course they had the classic Snowbirds in their Tudors and the USAF Thunderbirds in their F-16s and a display by the A-10, some Stearmans and some Havard/Texans as well as the normal aerobatic displays. Afterwards I will fire up the patio altar and sacrifice some farm animals to the gods of summer. While this goes on beer will be served. (Families and friends welcome also) Please indicate interest here. As the dates get closer I will purchase tickets and the more we have attending, the cheaper the tickets become. The price is $25 per adult but $80 per carload (up to 8 persons). I hope we can get some more attending this year. The airshow is good excuse to meet more of you guys.
  2. Nice screenies. You shouldn't be bored though. Haven't you got a campaign to test??
  3. Um...Klinger, what are you doing to your arse to make it bald and shiny then? More than just sitting I suspect
  4. Oddly enough, that's the worst one I've heard. You've got it bad :?
  5. More great pics mate. That is so fucking cool. Thanks for sharing them.
  6. "...when the guy in front of you slows down quickly and you push down or pull back on the steering wheel to pass him" I do that.
  7. I kinda hope that a lot of the objects are pre-placed. I don't mind enhancing the landscape but I'm really sick of building on a blank slate. Airfields for example should have AA emplacements pre-placed; we should just have to add the guns. Town/villages should have vehicles etc, we should just have to choose which force controls the town, thus changing the vehicles from VW and Mercedes or Diahatsu and Nissan to Chev and Jeep or ZIL and Yugo. It's one reason I don't mission build as much as I used to...I'm sick of building the incidental stuff on the map - particularly when there is no real logic to the objects list. :x
  8. Small update this week. But cool. Now here's an interesting one. Tank on a truck. How cool is that!!?? I'm beginning to think that this is a cruel joke....There's just too many incidental objects. If there is a FMB, I hope the Objects are more logically arranged than they are in FB. There's even a curb.
  9. Crap Kelly, you make me laugh.
  10. Just finished Blood Red Snow by Gunther Koschorrek. Brilliant read! Loaned to me by the ever-generous Jensenpark, this was written by a German soldier who kept a diary (against orders) from 1943 at Stalingrad until the end of the war. He rediscovered the diary in the early 90s and wrote this account. Interestingly enough, the pages of the diary were lost for many years after his wife divorced him and moved to the US with his daughter in the early 50s. 40 years later his daughter tracked him down and wanted to know the man who had written the diary she had been holding all these years - the only connection to her father. A really interesting account told from the grass roots level. 2 thumbs up :thumbright: :thumbright:

  15. Great!! 2 more books to hunt down. Both sound pretty good. If you enjoyed reading about the German tanks, there's another great german tank book called "Panzer Commander" by Hans Von Luck Von Luck covered Poland, France, North Africa, Italy & Russia, from 1939 until 1945 earning the Knight's Cross along the way and meeting a bunch of pivotal German commanders. And he writes well. Like Hartmann he was captured by the Russians in the end and held in one of the camps for a number of years after the war. Very detailed and enjoyable to read, this book is acknowleged as one of the most balanced Second World War German military memoirs in existence. :thumbright:
  16. Not a lot of new stuff this week. Look at the train bridge....I wonder how many 1.2lb bombs it would take to kill that
  17. Certainly brave pilots Enforcer. Nice pics too. (That F-4 looks REALLY mean) The museum has certainly changed. You need to take another trip.........
