  1. I saw the tutorial on adding rumble to the X52 stick. I am curios on how much this adds to the immersion of the game like IL2. I also wonder why some company has not designed a device like the Butt Kicker Gamer 2 that would attach to your chair and add a bit more rumble via the gamepad USB interface, The question I have is when does the rumble take place and would something like the Butt Kicker Gamer 2 actually rumble at the same incidents? Since I have no experience with either I am not sure. Is there anyone else that has added rumble to their cockpit setup?
  2. If your X52 Pro uses HAL effects then it would not be dust or wear. You could use one of those utilities and look at the raw numbers for the axis and see if it is changing while your not moving anything. If it is then it is more likely electrical noise. I would check the DIN connector (not a great connection for the joystick itself) and well as the USB port you are plugging it into. Maybe try a powered hub if you suspect the USB power to be a bit noisy. As for the dead zone I would certainly try the fix as it looks pretty easy to do by just adding to the magnet and making it closer to the HAL effect.

  4. I am a new player and just upgraded today. Welcome back Check this thread out. I think it might do what you want. http://dangerdogz.com/forums/topic/11154-installing-hsfx-7-the-easy-way/
  5. I am looking to make something like this Or a knob more like this (if I can find the right knobs)
  6. My faith in Saitek was shaken somewhat when the X52 Pro set I purchased had major issues with deadzone, kept being dropped from Windows and then died a few weeks after I started using it. Sp at $150 it was less than stellar to say the least. Returned it and got a Thrustmaster Warthog. No problems so far.
  7. Very nice
  8. Thanks guys I do have one question. I am working on getting more out of my Thrustmaster Warthog. On the throttle I have Power and Prop Pitch assigned to the dual throttle control. I have the Slider Axis and wonder what would be the most needed adjustment best assigned to an axis? I have a BU0836X 12-Bit Joystick Board and will get around to building a trim control box down the road. Again thanks for any opinions you offer. By the way UDP Speed seems to be working fine with 4.12 and HSFX7 for those that are looking to use it.
  9. Well I plan on working on my pit this coming week and get back playing IL2. I see there has been some updates I will have to apply. Hope to see you guys soon and relearn most of what I did last winter. Been traveling a lot this year (two daughters in two different states in opposite directions). Happy New Year to all OverDhill
  10. So how does this interface to your PC? It doesn't look to be USB. The one I am looking to build will have a USB control interface card for axix and switches.

    Nice Pit

Now this is a nice pit https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=lRY_HSYwDqk
  12. Okay next question... which maps do you guys fly with these days.. those are the ones I should start to study first eh?
  13. Thanks guys... I looked around on M4T but somehow missed that section
  14. Is there anywhere to download (JPG) the maps used in IL-2 to be able to look at them and study them? OverDhill
  15. Not sure if this has been posted but I thought it was a well done video of IL-2 Enjoy OverDhill
  16. I was mentioning my custom controller for FPSers I built to some of the guys on Teamspeak. I just finished re-building it as I switched from an old 4 Joystick to USB adapter to a GP-Wiz40 MAX USB card. This card would come in handy for any pit builders as it will emulate 40 inputs and so easy to setup. http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=235 The controller is made from a commercial joystick and an old CH Product Pro Throttle housing. All the switches, hats and buttons are wired to the GP-Wiz. This new setup lets me use 21 buttons at my finger tips whereas the old USB adapter limited me to 12 buttons. The joystick is wired to emulate the AWSD for movement. I also added a toggle switch to allow me to switch to an entire second set of keybinds using Xpadder as well as 4 extra buttons along the front of the base. http://xpadder.com/
  17. Well I have finished MOD'ing FC2 with Modman and I have to say it looks pretty sweet. Also have my Helios profile done so I will be playing around with it some.
  18. Well I am finishing up my Helios profile for Lockon FC2 and have the F15 HOTAS controls worked out. After installing some MODS I have to say it is a pretty nice looking sim OverDhill
  19. Older topic but was wondering if anyone here plays Lockon FC2?
  20. Well I found a couple MODS that seem to come in pretty handy. The first one is FOV Changer Mod http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,16878.0.html I have this bound to the CMS hat on the throttle and it works well The second one is the PAL MiniMapV2.5 adapted for 4.111 from here http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=27274.0 This one is really cool and using Xpadder to emulate the mouse wheel using the Coolie hat on the throttle I can zoom in and out These both work with HSFX 6 OverDhill
  21. Yep.... you have no idea....
  22. My wife was nice enough to make me some fleece covers for the Warthog
  23. I had posted that Samsung UN39EH5003 39-Inch 1080p 60Hz LED HDTV (check the reviews on Amazon and many use it for gaming. I also read other forums mentioning this model before I ordered it) I have read that the frequency matters little when displaying from a PC. All in all I think it has a nice picture and I don't see any tearing. As for UDP Speed.... I also posted that being written in Java it needs quite a bit of horsepower to display the gauges. On the E6750 OC'd to 3.2GHZ it takes 54% of the CPU when they are not even being updated. This is with a EVGA 560ti Ferma graphics card. This TV http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0077RKBSK/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00 This DVI splitter http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003SG9IOC/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00 And very high quality cables OverDhill
  24. Here is the latest picture of my virtual cockpit with the Thrustmaster Warthog and Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals in place. I will wait till spring to paint the stand outside.
  25. I played with it for a short time. Kind of like Tribes on steroids. It is a massive world with a lot of options. You will need a fast machine and a good memory (you not the PC...hahaha) So many games out there to play these days. Been looking to maybe get into Freespace 2 Open since they really upped the graphics in the latest MOD and have TrackIR support. I am looking forward to Star Citizen (Wing Commander type done by the same guy). Will have a 3D cockpit amd awesome graphics. I play BF3 and Medal Of Honor Warfighter some. Was getting bored with FPSers so that is why I got into flight. Always looking to start something that might be interesting. Freespace 2 Open does look interesting and has a huge following. Suppose to be able to play online as well. Will be checking it out as is like a flight sim in space. There is also a Babylon 5 MOD for it as well. OverDhill
