  1. Personally if your throttle still works (which I like by the way) I would add a CH Fighterstick with it. I have heard nothing but good things about it. I went with the Thrustmaster Warthog but I did not have a throttle and the wife got it for me for a retirement present.

  2. Well I have it working. The TEWS display is updating. I did not see any changes in the Caution Lights Panel but that may be just that nothing was going on.

I have played around with my Helios FC3 skin and rethinking what you mentioned about seeing the instrument panel with TrackIR. Actually looking directly forward I can see the Vertical Situation Display (VSD) and TEWS Display Unit perfectly without even glancing down. Even looking down and moving forward the Caution Lights Panel on the FC3 F15C screen is barely readable. I think they assume you will listen to all the warnings being spoken.

On the 24" touchscreen I can see the following gauges updated in real-time in Helios:

    Mach Meter

    Attitude Director Indicator (ADI)

    Altimeter

Horizontal Situation Indicator (not sure it is fully functional)

    Engine Tachometers (right and left)

Fan Turbine Inlet Temps FTIT (right and left)

Angle Of Attack (it was off by +12 degrees but fixed the Export script file)

    Vertical Velocity Indicator

Here is what I have so far. I am not really going to miss the VSD and TEWS as they are both clearly visible

  3. That might be fine for A-10C but FC3 does not have a clickable cockpit.

I did play with LEAVU some more and it all works (I had 4 displays at once) with FC3 but again when you try and run it with Helios the LEAVU displays go crazy. It is a shame as they look pretty sweet. I really need to figure out why they are doing that. So I can run Helios and get all the gauges and run LEAVU and get the displays but not together.

I did fire up a TB panel (just picked IL2 sample I had) and it did not mess up the LEAVU displays.

I will keep digging. To be honest not having the displays on the touchscreen is not as much of a loss as not being able to have quit access to controls but I would really like to get them working.

I chose FC3 because it had a simpler flight model as I am not sure I am ready for A-10C yet and also like the F15.

  4. Helios never did do MFD's or other displays but it does do gauges and controls. Most people using it either use MFDE or BMS's own extractor and place them in blank areas on your Helios panel. As for DCS I am not sure if it will do networked extraction for the displays. All I have found is threads talking about doing it to a second monitor on the same system.

I will have to check into TB again. Do you have a screenshot of your Lockon FC2 panel?

  5. Update:

I got the Leavu export working with FC3. Bad news is that Leavu and Helios does not play well on my client PC. Leavu displays will flash garbage on the screen when run together. That is why I never used it for my FC2 skin in Helios.

It is a start at least knowing FC3 can export some of the displays to a networked client.

  6. Well if your talking about sending keyboard commands then yes it can do use Helios for any game/sim you want running a network PC by using a small app called Pittools. Pittools has both client and host applications for sending keyboard commands from one PC to another. I use it all the time and it is what I used for Freespace as well as FC2. You just assign keystrokes to the buttons or controls. They then get sent over the network when a button is pressed.

  7. Moved this from another thread to stay on topic there.

Helios works really well with Falcon BMS. I also use it for IL2 (using UDP Speed for gauges). I am working on a Freespace 2 Open skin for controls (about 90% done).

You obviously have an advanced version of TB. Does your RWR/TEWS exports work on a networked PC or just on a second monitor?

Last year I tried registering on the TB website but with out success. I really like Helios. It plays well with other applications like MFDE and UDP Speed as well as Falcon BMS's own extracted gauges and MFD's.

I would love to get a FC3 skin that is as robust as my Falcon BMS one. It has just about everything functional.

  8. Actually I just purchased FC3 late last night after I found out that someone had gotten the Exports working for Helios. I did a quick test and everything seems to be working with my FC2 Helios skin. I will investigate and see if there are any instruments that might be exported that I am missing. I just need to find the time as I am a novice at flight sims (I flew some sims a long time ago then life got in the way) and these sims have a pretty steep learning curve. Last winter I did have FC2 fully modded and looking pretty nice but multiplayer part was pretty much out of the question so I did not spend much time with it and then spring time came and with a new grandson 800 miles away we did a lot of time away from home.

I did play around with Touchbuddy and it was pretty nice. I prefer Helios as it will do a lot of the instruments as well as the buttons and switches. As for the reply I am not sure why I am not getting any email notifications.

  9. I did state that you have to be a member to use it

Actually my IL-2 clan has an automated upgrade app for 4.12.2m, including the latest HSFX7.01. You have to be a member to use it but hey they asked me to join before I ever flew it. Nice bunch of guys and they fly online regularly.  IL-2 looks pretty good for its age with these mods.

It is certainly up to you guys to decide about membership. No reason he can't check your website out as that is all I intended.

  10. Well my man cave is in the basement and its 11X12 feet. Gets a bit chilly sometimes in the winter but its quiet and I can do with it as I please. I has a six zone whole house audio system I designed and built so I can listen to my music library (1000+ CD's ripped into a lossless format). My main PC sits on the right side of the room and my pit on the left. I play FPS games on the main PC but move over to the pit when I fly. Someday when we move I will probably have to give it up.

  11. Yes that is me. I have not spent much time playing with Lockon FC2 but it does look pretty nice with all the mods. I am hoping to get more time to mess around with IL2 and Lockon FC2 this winter. I had a lot of fun doing the skins using Helios and UDP Speed on my 24" touchscreen. I find the learning curve for these flight sims is much easier when you have the controls in front of you and not 100+ keystrokes to memorize.

39" Monitor with a 24" Touchscreen running Helios and UDP Speed. Thrustmaster Warthog and Saitek Pro Pedals. Also use TrackIR (can't live without it)

  12. A HAL effect is a small device that outputs an electrical signal when a magnetic field is present. They use these instead of potentiometers for the stick X-Y axis. As for the slider and throttle they might be pots. So you could get some good electrical contact cleaner (make sure its safe for plastic) and spray those and move them back and forth a couple times (make sure the spray is getting inside - usually around where the terminals come out).  .

This is a good brand and I have been using it for decades as did my father also.

I prefer the liquid version and then use a long hypodermic needle to squirt it into the pots
