  1. This has developed in the last few weeks, all seemed fine prior and I don't know what could have caused this situation.

I have two computers, both with ASUS Motherboards, one still operates on XP (32) and the other Windows 7 (64).  I have a DSL ISP with Verizon (now Frontier) and hock into a Westell Model 327W Modem/Router, the thing which all the wires go in and out of.  It has wireless capabilities, not in use and 4 slots for an Ethernet cable to hock up PCs.

The Problem:  The old computer (XP) keeps flashing,                    Local Area Connection 6                  A Network Cable is Unplugged

For a while I also got a notice that:                         Windows System Error                               A duplicate name exist on the network

For this I changed the computer names, had been the same and this seems to have taken care of that problem.  I'm still receiving the Local Connection problem and have tried the following.

Installed a new Treadnet T10/100/1000 Copper based NIC,  Installed a new Ethernet cable, moved the cable to different ports on the router, where ever its slotted it startsm losing connection, while the main, Windows 7 computer runs fine.  I've flushed the DNS cache and don't know where to turn.

    Thanks for any suggestions..

Windows System Error                               A duplicate name exist on the network actually means that your network is working. Cause it found a duplicate name on the network.

Local Area Connection 6                  A Network Cable is Unplugged does not have to mean anything. could be that u have a BlueTooth adapter connected to your computer.

what u have to do is:

    - go to command prompt ( windows key + r, type cmd in the box and press OK )

    - in the command prompt type

    ipconfig

    and press enter

    - resize the command prompt window so u can see all the text, right click anywhere in the window and select

    Mark

    - left click in the upper left corner in the window and drag the mouse to the lower right point to create a box around all the text

    - press enter (that will copy everything to the clipboard)

    - come back here and paste the text here

    - do that on both computers

  2. what is the picture file extensions u have in the folder? if it is a canon or nicon raw type then irfan probably needs a PlugIn. can u open a picture u want to resize in irfan? if not then that's the problem.

on my Nikon i can save pictures in NEF (which is a nicon's extension for raw files) or compressed in jpg. if i use raw i need to install special plugin on irfan to be able to work with pictures.

  3. It has been a while since I have done a batch conversion using Irfanview. I have spent most of this evening trying to resize about 100 pictures with no sucess. Do any of you use Irfanview for batch conversion and resizing? I know Rog did but I need someone to hop on TS tomorrow when we run coops and help me with the settings.

    so:

    open Irfan and press B

  4. I'm trying to teach the Wife to play Il2 but I'm having trouble with the router settings, the router is a Netgear DG934G and any help would be appreciated.

not sure what u r trying to do.

on how many computer r u trying to play at the same time? 2?

if yes, r u trying to play on some online server or u r trying to host a game on one of those two?

in any of those two cases u should not have any problems with your router. assuming that the computers are networked and accessible over the network.. if u r hosting a game u should create exception for IL2 in the firewall of the hosting machine

hope this helps. if not pls explain the problem little more.

  5. I can confirm the new-build FW190A-8 which ditched in the Med a few days back was the one which stole the show so effectively at Legends last year. Fortunately the pilot was rescued unhurt although the aircraft is believed to be a write-off.

The remainder of the news floored me completely. In an interview later, the pilot said that the crash was due to engine failure and then went on to say that it was the twelfth time the same problem had happened! I'm staggered that someone would continue to fly an aircraft which such a history of problems without a full investigation into the 'why'.

I think the German airframe body is rejecting the Russian organ, er... I mean engine.

Well, I guess BG won't be buying one, after all. I suppose he'll have to settle for a used spitfire or P-51 since he's already built the airfield and all. ^-^

hmm .... i've heard that engine is Chinese.

  6. some of know that i have bought Cougar HOTAS recently and since Cougar has no twisting stick i was forced to buy or build the rudder pedals.

being in slight tongue.gif money shortage, decided to try and build one.

before being finally happy with the way they feel i've created three different models following different instructions found on internet.

my first build was inspired by Crash's design that he brought to Duxford last year to show to me (thx m8 u've been of big help to me)

    post-476-086453300 1276105973_thumb.jpg

they where good but lacked precision and too short movement

for the second build i've found inspiration on the website that makes cockpit equipment for simmers. it is a helicopter design that looked very interesting and promising

but the felt weird and uncomfortable

in my third build i've used my old MJ16 controller that i have made for my button hub. it has 8 axises so i'll probably use them and make brakes and trim wheels
