Happy birthday Fen!
-
+1 on that, best stick I have used, I have even bought a spare.
-
The high alt sputtering of the Spit was fixed in the beta patch and supposedly the bomber thing is in the works. The stock patch is pretty buggy, we really need the beta patches stable and made official. Multi-core would be rather good as well.
-
Remove the icons entirely. Annoying I know, but its all we have for now.
-
I will be running the new beta patch, as it does fix a number of multiplayer issues. The stock game should be compatible, but the map is slightly more difficult to use.
-
I was thinking about 8ish BST, but I can run it anything you want, sooner or later. Alternatively, I could run a later one for you chaps across the big wet thing.

As there is an increasing number of us who are playing CloD, I though a training session would be in order.
As the complex engine management is quite complicated I though a bit of practice wouldn't hurt.
I plan to go through the startup of the Spitfire and the Hurricane, and general engine control, and perhaps some other aircraft if people are interested.
I'll be using the multiplayer maps so FPS shouldn't be an issue. It has a number of AI drones, and a targeting range for gunnery practice.
Anyone interested?

Happy Birthday, and congratulations on getting the dayshift.

+1 on X52 as throttle and button bay and MSFFB2 as stick. Works really well.
-
I bought it in steam yesterday, just getting back into the wonderful world of arma.
-
What you could do is just go into the FF folder CloD (under steam) and just remove the punch and mortar effects, pretty much the only useful one is the Spring. There are programs such as Fedit which can reduce the amplitude of the "vibrations"

HELICOPTERS!
My upcoming Pusan Perimeter mission should be quite a lot of fun.

I agree Adaware is great, but really, Firefox guides you to porno? I punch that into my calculator and it makes a happy face.

A post on the banana forums on scripting displayed the number of different types of damage an aircraft the receive in CloD, it is quite a list. I have done some testing and some of the details are quite astonishing. For example, losing the battery and/or alternator will cut your electrical power, shutting down all the powered instruments such as gear indicators. The other day I received no other damage than MG fire which perforated my pneumatic tanks, which on landing had disabled my Spitfire's brakes. The AI are affected by these forms of damage as well as a Heinkel whom I had hit in the engine area had lost his hydraulics and the right landing gear was slowly dropping out of its bay. Quite interesting really.

Turning off the shadows, while being one of the nicest pieces of eyecandy, does ruin framerates, turn it off and you should get a significant (talking 20+ fps here) boost. The shadows of trees and buildings is what really ruin you FPS. Still they are getting there. WIth a bit more multicore support and the game should run fine.

That isn't a graphic bug, that is the waypoint for the training missions, it tells you were to taxi and where to fly in the training scenarios.

You have to love online shopping, you don't even have to wear trousers!

Xp does work, but it relies on DirectX 9, a lot of the effects the game uses are directX 10 based (introduced with vista). The game runs, but not well and does not look as good. A cheap fix is just to get a Windows 7 OEM license and do a dualboot. XP is dying soon anyway, it is almost 10 years old now.

Good Job Fruity, I REALLY hate hippies.

I don't think I'll be up that late, but I will probably be flying around 9 GMT to late.

Same to you BG, I am enjoying the early summer warmth, without all the pollen. Doing some landscaping this weekend, making a new path in the garden.
-
Yep, same here, I guess the server is tilting slightly.
-
Servers are up now, the internet is back.

I'll guide you through it MT, most of the planes are fairly similar, just different parameters for temperatures and engine settings. Most of the commands can be labeled to the keyboard, but I prefer to click some stuff. You can press F10 to toggle the clickable pit.

They are putting it up on steam now, I'll shout when the patch is out.
