Happy Easter to you BG and all Dogz

Thanks for the links and uploading to the Dogz server
Hey Fruitbat, your most welcome
I have noticed yesterday that version 9 is out on the Checksix website. I'll upload it sometimes today.

I guess this was the time that patch version 1.007 just came out, lol
-
I'll guide you through it MT, most of the planes are fairly similar, just different parameters for temperatures and engine settings. Most of the commands can be labeled to the keyboard, but I prefer to click some stuff. You can press F10 to toggle the clickable pit.
Thanks Jedi, we'll have to wait until the sim comes out in NA. I beleive it got push back to May 26 now? something like that.

Try these videos, they may help
Thanks Sid, I watched the JU88, the G50 and the Stuka take off procedure that this guy (can't remember his name) made. It seems to be his own startup procedures. I guess they are non existant. From what I can gather, I will need to make my own Startup and shotting down check lists. There are just too many things to do and you don't want to have missed something
The times where you just step in the cockpit and take off full throttle right away to do a mission are over
. I will be loving to fly full switch on this sim. The cockpits looked awsome. Tell me, is it possible to use your mouse to toggle switches and also use some binded keyboard keys to do the same ? or when you use the mouse, you can only use the mouse? I find that inflight using the mouse will just be very distracting.
Thanks.

Ok MT, I can do a tutorial for you on TS, or I can write it up. Easier if I can guide you throught it. Every aircraft has it's own startup procedure.
HI Jedi, please don't write it up. By looking at those videos, I got a pretty good idea of what was needed. I will surely talk to you about it on TS.
Thanks.

HI Guys!
I would like to know what steps are needed (in a full switch mode starting sitting in your cockpit) to start / turn off an engine or multiple engines in CLOD. This has to do with how I'm gone layout my home build switchboard. So please if you have the time to right it down for me or if you got a link that explains it that would be great. I was going to wait until the sim would come out and figure it out myself but it seems that it will not be release for a while.
Thank you!

Yes I got it installed, can run it on max settings (so far in training etc.).
First install baulked at the DirectX stuff, all subsequent installs keeled over with the missions file(s)..
And the DirectX did die with the good install, but didn't phase me!
Hey BigEnk,
Glad to see you bought the sim
I hope you get it installed ok.

I just found this list from a link on SimHQ.
This file has a .cmc file extension, but it is just a text file that you can rename to .txt and open in Notepad. I think it just has the game's default commands, but since I don't have the game yet I am not sure...
Thanks Snacko, Propnut and Delta7 lists are more complete. This guy doen't seem to have any of the Magnetos commands and is lacking other commands as well.

I just purchase the Sopwith Dolphin and triplane the Albatros DIII and the Fokker DIIF. Now to take them for a test spin, no pun intended.
Hey Mayhem, Good choice of airplanes
I don't fly the Dolphin much cause I find it a bit heavy and slow but it is a good AC. I love the DIII and the DVIIF is definatly a powerfull one at high altitude. Use you HL Mixture control the right way and you will see the RPM going up.
-
Hey MT,
can't see 'em from work anyway, but I'll check them out from home...
I'm hoping to be able to join you guys one of these evenings. If I can get the kids to sleep by 9, I should be able to someday.
Can you believe I haven't even tried going online yet with RoF?
Valiantly resisting the desire to buy the HP.... I don't know if I'll be able to resist having the "full house".
C_G
Hey CG, anytime that you see me or propnut, APHill and gustang, we are always willing to fly ROF at anytime. Even if we're flying IL2 or another game. If I happen to be on TS at the same time as you, then we'll fly ROF. I'm lucky cause I got a full house and I intend to keep it full
I'm sure that we will be able to connect at the same time and it would be good for you to fly multiplayer with us or with any DDz that like ROF and that are in the same time zone as you. You know we learn a lot from each other. We can answer a lot of questions that you might have too thus probably make you like the sim even better. If you like bombing stuff (HIGH ALTITUDE) this is the aircraft to buy. The Gotha G.V is a lot of fun to fly but it is a little harder to figure out. I love both of them
See you soon I hope!

Thanks Roger, I thought that the file would have been too large for the vault (250mb).
Ouch! You are right.. to a degree.
I will setup an FTP account that can be used for large files like this, and enable import for the Dogz.
This way you can ftp files to server, go into the downloads and click on import and hey presto! it appears in the vault.
Advantage, aside from size, is that ftp can resume should connection break
Hey that is great. Thanks roger!

Thanks for the heads-up! I've sorted of dropped out of the RoF scene due to a glitch in my monitor and in the meantime some sweet planes got released (the HP, Gotha and DFW) but I'd missed the sales on them so I've been hoping for another sale.
Incidentally, once I got off my duff and contacted ViewSonic I was very impressed by their online assistance and they got me sorted out in about 5 minutes which was a huge relief as didn't fancy having to blow hard-earned $ on a new 26" monitor)...
Now... what to buy, hmmmmm....
edit: Picked up the Albatros III, the DFC W, and the Gotha. The only one I don't have is the HP now. The DFC and the Gotha will keep me plenty busy I think. Can't wait for the new career mode
HI Cold Gambler,
I'm glad to see that you got those airplanes
The Albatros DIII is one of my favorite German fighter and is easy to fly. Here are some videos that might help you with the other two airplanes you have bought, that's if you didn't already seen them. I'll see you in the ROF skies soon.
Dang the site prvents me to input the 4 utube video links that I had. There are a few below and when you get there just for the ones you need:
DFW
Gotha G.V

What is the Fields mod?
HI Snacko,
Field Mods are pieces of equipment that will upgrade airplanes. So far what we know is that there will be gunsight, compass, cockpit horizon device, cockpit lighting, speedometers and things like that. They will be for sale and when you buy them they will be fitted in your aircraft of choice when you login.

David, you can zip the files into one file and upload it here: http://www.sendspace.com/mysendspace/myindex.html
It is free to register and you can upload up to 300MB without having to upgrade your account. Then you can give me the link to download it.
Thank again.
Why?!
Our Download manager was made for just this!
You can also, if you so wish, use IrfanView (free) to batch process a directory(folder) of images to resize/format convert.
If you want, upload the zip file to our server and PM/Post and I can then import the contents for you.
It may be useful for others and could form the basis of a tutorial even!
Thanks Roger, I thought that the file would have been too large for the vault (250mb).

According to Jason Williams (RoF Team)
Yes you'll be able to Pre-Order the Field Mods. We have to make some changes to the store first to accomodate. Should be ready in a couple weeks.MT

Guys,
Now is the time to buy that aircraft that you were waiting for at a very good price. Check it out

I did not put any key assignments in as you can set your own. I just wanted people to see what is availible. And if you print the PDF (or I can send you the Excel file) you can write down for yourself what works best for you.
Hey David,
I'll print them out it will be easyer for me to work with it. Great stuff.
Thanks again.

It was a good night of flying. We flew 2 fairly lengthy missions, about 45 minutes each. First, we flew Sopwith Camels for 40 Squadron, Stationed near Bruay, on a ground attack mission. With bombs hanging, five of us left the ground at ~ 09:30, headed East and crossed the Front at approximately 1500M, encountering little flak on the ingress. Once crossed, we descended East, between the low, heavy clouds, along the River Scarpe to search for ground targets where we found a group of Flatbed trucks gathered near a crossroads and rail line. There were also some vehicles approaching from the South. In line astern, we dove in one by one, each dropping a couple of bombs, ruining the day for the German supply trucks. We also found that two 77mm flak guns were nestled in the tree line nearby, making loiter very dangerous. I had dropped bombs near both, but their revetments protected them and I failed to destroy either.
About 3 minutes into the attack, a train carrying supplies appeared from the East, and we began to strafe it, somehow disconnecting the Engine from its cargo, leaving the supplies behind for easy pickings. Shortly afterward, a red flare shot up to make the rest of the flight aware of the 6 Fokker DVIIs descending on us and a dogfight began. Thankfully, their attack was segmented, allowing our flight to concentrate on 2-3 German scouts at a time. One of our pilots was lost after he had pressed the attack and collided with his adversary, but our Camels allowed us to out-maneuver the remaining DVIIs and send them in to the ground or running home. Another pilot was injured in the fight and signaled his return to France.
I joined the flight lead for another strafing run, but with the flak guns concentrating on just the two of us, it was too dangerous to continue and we broke off the attack for a return to base. As we neared the German trenches, the injured pilot’s engine began to sputter and forced him down in no man’s land. The flak guns near the place where German trenches met the Scarpe River were lively and another of our flight was injured and forced to land just near the French lines. The flight leader and I returned to our Aerodrome near Bruay and immediately left for Arras in an auto to collect our downed pilot. Later that evening, after dark, our pilot in No Man’s Land was able to make his way back to friendly lines.
For the second mission, we flew Albatros DIII for Jasta 28w during April, 1917, stationed near Lille. The mission was the typical patrol type, mostly uneventful, no enemy sighted, until the last leg of the patrol where we encountered 3 Sopwith Triplanes over the front. With a numerical advantage, we attacked from above. Not long after the attack began, 2 of the triplanes collided with each other, leaving the remaining pilot to be quickly overwhelmed. All pilots returned safely for a great set of landings.
Excellent mission debrief Gustang and Thank you for it. Again, your two missions were AWSOME. Very well made my friend. We sure did have a lot of fun flying them.
Bravo!

HI Propnut and Delta7, Guys, that is exactly what I was looking for. It will help me planning what buttons I will assign to the commands I want with the number of keys and buttons I got.
Thanks again Guys, Great job.!!

Hi MT, I loaded CLoD and took screenshots of each page of keybindings (keys only mind you, I did not even do axis') and ended up with 37 screenshots! This did not include vehicle controls (VEHICAL CONTROLS?!!!), pan controls, view controls, comms controls, etc. This was just General keybindings and aircraft keybindings...sheesh....unless I can up load all 37 here (@ 6.7 megs each I would need to reduce/resize first) I am not sure how to get them to you.
David
HI David,
WOW, 37 screenshots ? I wasn't expecting that many
Thats a lot of MB (around 250). I don't know where you can send them so I can download them. I'm going to look for a free host. I'll get back to you. Thank you again for doing this for me.
