I would start with what Kev has posted. He is right.. those are the most important. So get those controls exactly where you want them first. I would add the Map and Superchargers to that list of basic controls. With the X52 you should still have some buttons left. Your joystick toggle switches on the base can be used for Gear Up/Dn; Dive Brakes Up/Dn; lights or Fold Winds, etc.. Depending if you are a fighter or bomber you may want to have Mode 1 for fighters and Mode 2 for Bombers. For bombing you have several more controls to add.

Starbucks: "it Has Come To The Attention Of Our Scum-Sucking Lawyers..."

Hey Skypup, did you see your Happy Birthday thread??? -
Are you registered at the TB site? Maybe you need to be logged in for that page.. Try this. My New FC3 profile is attached. It does not include every tab since it's a WIP and has over 2 gigs of training videos and maps, etc.. I just included the profile which would just be the buttons and TB modules (rwr, loadout, warnings). DCS FC3.rar

Yes, you can download the small profile designed for smaller screens on the TB website here. Attached to this post is the Export script that I have got working with DCS/FC3. (If you want to test FC2 you can download that version here) I assume you know where to put those export files? (C:\Users\xxxxx\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts) The new DCS/FC3 version will write the TB export data to: C:\touchbuddy-export.dat To configure the export to load into TB you need to edit the touchbuddy.cfg file and look for this line: lomac_data_file = C:\touchbuddy-export.dat The new export for FC3 is what I use and that line should look just like that. If you download the FC2 version, the .zip should have a readme that tells you how to set that line, and where the export writes that file. Then start TB and your game and give it a test. If you want my unfinished FC3 profile I can share that with you. But it is unfinished.. TouchBuddy_DCS_Export.zip

TB does not have any other guages. But you can always cut transparent holes in a background and find some other way to display anything you want.

I used to have 2 videos on Google Video showing how to make a simple profile. But they are gone. Probably lost when Google merged with Youtube? I can get online with you anytime and show you how to make a simple profile with TB Toolkit. It just consists of setting the window size, adding a background graphic, and dragging and dropping button images onto the listbox. Then you drag them to the screen and edit the button, give it the macro to send the keystrokes. Save it and test it with Notepad or the game. Let me know..

I read a post by PeterP on the DCS forums about setting all of this cockpit stuff up. Basically he was saying it was a lot of work that may not be worth it with sims that already have a clickable cockpit. He showed a post of someone who just put their large touchscreen in front of the 3 main game screens and had the game use this screen also. So, he always had the cockpit in view on the touchscreen anyhow and could touch the switches. I was thinking of trying that when my new rig comes. I just probably need to map a button to pause TrackIR so the screen doesn't move and I can touch the switches. Maybe a foot pedal or something to keep my hands free... I think I would just have to tell DCS my monitor size (total width and height) and it should work. But I don't know if you can get other games to use the 4 displays that way. Just have to try I guess, and see how they handle it.

Attached are screenshots of 3 TB profiles I have been modifying to work with my 23" touchscreen. I have just been moving several of the tabs onto one or two tabs since I have more room. The Su25t profile is pretty much done. I have been testing with it. The other two are works in progress. DCSFC3wip is just my old FC2 profile with the flights, fighter, and bomber tabs all moved onto one main tab so far. There are a few commands that are duplicated, and need to be removed. And the layout needs to be improved. But I think most of the commands are there. The DCSFC3F15wip is RuggButt's F15 profile. I never really flew the F15, but since I really like this graphic I thought I would update it and give it a try. Unfortunatly about 2/3 of the buttons are just for looks (they are not buttons). But it still looks cool, and I may make changes to it. I have played with making a Huey profile, but since it's in beta I didn't want to was too much time on it. So, it's just got some ugly buttons so far.

Ahh.. finally.. I think you are the very first DD to ever really try TB! Very strange to me.. But I just guessed with these old props they didn't need help with the switches.. What questions do you have Nick? Your touchscreen is small, so how many buttons do you want to make? Should be pretty easy.

Downloaded and checking it out. Does the menu in the game open when you say a command, or is it too fast? I was thinking it might be cool if you could say each menu item one at a time. Then you could read the item off the menu instead of having to memorize all the command combos. Just an idea.. from the cobweb covered marbles rolling around in the dust in my head.

The RWR/TEWS; Warnings Panel; and Loadout are all rendered by TB using number data in the export file. This was all developed way back for Lockon 1.0. Question: If you run Helios in network mode, can DCS send it's MFD and other displays to the networked pc, or do you loose that ability by going client-server with Helios? Also, how much of a framerate difference does it make to run Helios in local vs client/server?

That's not me in the video Swep.. Are you drinking again?

I think so, but I can't remember. I don't see any posts about users complaining that export does not work in network mode though... I have only used local mode. But either way, you can just map a network path to the location of the TB export data file and tell TB where it is. But TB will send keycommands over a network. Somebody posted this over on the TB site. It's a new touchscreen app. Looks interesting... http://power-grid.roccat.org/en/Home/ Here's a couple profile samples: http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj129/aliveathome/ROCCAT_Power-Grid.png http://power-grid.roccat.org/en/Store/Grids/Games/Simulation/145/

Sorry, yes I knew it worked with Falcon too. I think he did special programming to make it work with both DCS and Falcon. I am wondering if you can get Helios to work with 'any' game you want? Or is it just specific to Falcon and DCS. How does it send commands to other games? What interface would you use in Helios to send commands to other games. Like Clod? Or a car race sim, or FSX? I didn't think it could do that...

I have the weapons loadout, warnings panel, and RWR/TEWS exports working with TB in DCS now. I have been testing it, but have not uploaded it to the TB site yet. Does Helios work with games other than DCS? Like IL2 or anything else? TB will work with any game, but yes.. you do have to create or borrow your own buttons. I really like the Helios app. It turns out that Gadrocs actually lives only 15 miles from me here in Columbus. Small world..

Do you fly DCS? FC3?.. Have you tried Touchbuddy on your touchscreen? I wrote the toolkit for that have been using that for years on my old 8" touchscreen. (I had asked about that in your other post, but got no reply).. Now I am converting several profiles over to 1920x1080 for my new 23" touchscreen.
-
Thanks. My monitors and cockpit should arrive within a few days. After I get it setup I may need to do this. On a different note.. Did you create this Lockon FC2 profile using Helios? There can only be 1 OverDHill! I didn't know you flew lockon or had a touchscreen.. I just upgraded from my 8 year old 8" touchscreen to a 23" one.

Is that designed for the way you are using it on your chair? Or is this meant for audio use?

I have modded mine and added stronger magnets to the back of the existing ones and that helps. What is a HAL effect? I can see that they are jumpy in the Windows Controller Properties. Mostly my slider and wheels. I have to use a USB extension cord to reach my pc. It is plugged directly into the motherboard. When I get that new Cockpit setup, I will move everything around and won't need that USB extension. Maybe that will help.

That's how you learn them..

I built a new DCS mission I would like to test. Today or tomorrow anytime?

Somebody needs to fill the gap between the $500 Warthog and the $150 hotas setup. I too have had a x52pro for about 5-6 years and it was 'good' at first, but now it is just ok. Yes, the deadzone could be better and also the other axis are kind of jittery now since they have dust on them, or maybe it's just wear?

You already have an invitation for fishing and flying. Just tell me when.

Have you guys heard about this? I would like to see the reviews and price point. It looks pretty nice. http://www.saitek.com/x55/#prettyPhoto
