  1. Practice is one of the keys, checking height the target is above sea level and deducting that from altimeter height and airspeed. There are tables for true airspeed around that are useful but I found the most important physical motion thing to check is maintaining a constant airspeed that keeps the crosshairs on the target. Many other things too I'm sure but it is good fun to do.

  3. Thanks Arthur, fantastic link. They make great desktops too A great study of aircraft in the hellcat/sbd/flightdeck piccie....shows how much variation in the finish there is and how different the camo lines are demarcated...just right for model painters. Until you see these raw piccies you don't realise, especially as an awe struck kiddie, just how uniformity went overboard and randomness was acceptable in times of strife. Contrast that with the gleaming dig out tools on the gun carrier Monty and Ike were in...bull was still necessary when they dropped in. Are those shovels painted? Ever tried to use a painted shovel....waste of time. Natural, washed off and lightly oiled gives the best finish and performance for shovels....same goes for a woman too apparently
  4. Various forums on the interweb come up with variations in advice so I would say that there is no hard and fast rule. For example, the official nvidia site http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/IO_13955.html says to uninstall first before upgrading the card and then reinstall new drivers (even though they could be the same ones). Doesn't give a reason why. A forum on the 'Geforce' site https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/687029/video-card-upgrade-driver-question/ says a little bit more but says both ways is ok. Tom'sHardware http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/315235-33-installing-graphics-card-steps says it isn't necessary but the comments on forums are a personal view from a non-tech person perhaps. As it is so easy to do I use the update system for drivers on my nvidia and don't remove when going from one driver version to another. However when replacing a card I always uninstall the current drivers, put in the new card and reinstall new ones. I feel that as it is new hardware I am allowing the card to be properly configured instead of using computer settings (not graphics card settings) that were configured by different hardware. Just me but this gives me peace of mind instead of wondering if it's properly configured and if I'm getting the most from the expensive picture-producing-electrical-thing I've invested in. Cheerzen
  5. What a bummer....I'll keep mine as is for the time being methinks. Cheerzen ODH
  6. Epic...really epic! Well done FT...mucho impressed
  7. I have had that issue a few times over the years Dave...turned out it was a conflict with other controller software, one being the Belkin N52 gaming pad. Uninstalled it and it was fine.
  8. That's just a trailer..!! I'm all excited now......

  14. @ Crash, ummm...yes, they do....unless it wad a real DHL pilot visiting....didn't ask because we were giggling.....
  15. Hmmmm... spending some time with Theresa looking at Dogz website and links to it. Putting a search on the net for it takes people to the forums.....do we not have a front page? I thought it was reworded earlier this year. Would people interested need to see some sort of intro setting out who we are and what we fly? Doesn't appear very user friendly to people browsing or looking us up.
  16. Please do Mr Bailey
  17. Thought about it before, as it's the last one I'm up for it
  18. FT, having soaked up the atmosphere on the replacement bridge last weekend I am looking at this build in awe. What amazed me on the trip from Belgium up to Nijmegen, the route that 30 Corps took to consolidate the bridges taken by the Airborne, was how similar the bridges look. Apart from the Son bridge, they are all arched like this. This is a superb project mate, and brings back the heartfelt warmth and friendliness I got from the Gelderland people during my time there.
  19. Good luck! Maybe it could feature in the town's museum.

Well, after a while I have nearly finished this iconic (to me ) aeroplane........ Piccies of me getting out of my pit and contemplating how I took down Sweper and Artie in their 109s the other night ...... Working on the final details now, bit of paintwork and fittings to finish...and a way to make the pilot look less zombie like.... Cheerzen.
  21. I know people's feelings about openness and access for all etc etc but $30 ($2.50 a month for chrissake!) a year for access to all these servers and services is a small price to pay for the 30 active members who are very happy to use them. This comes up every year and is no nearer to being resolved. We are a nice and very accommodating bunch of guys but even people like us have costs to meet. I'm happy to pay an annual amount and think it should be Dogz standard. C'mon Founders, I'm proposing that we adopt it.
  22. Can this thread be PM'd to all members?
