What card have you got? Not that it makes much difference because modern cards munch IL2 for breakfast. Can't do Clod though mate. Someone is bound to say different but these settings have worked well for me for years on cards from the old 6600GTX (the first card I could max it out on!!) up to the 970 I am using now. These NVIDIA settings are the ones you need to think about as the rest can be left as default as they have little or no impact on IL2: Anisotropic filtering = 16x Antialiasing - Mode = override application setting Antialiasing setting = 8x on big screens or x16 if you are running a resolution like 1920 x 1200 Antialiasing - Transparency = Off Multi-display/mixed GPU = Single display Power management mode = Prefer maximum performance Texture filtering - Anisotropic sample optimisation = Off Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias = Clamp Texture filtering - Quality = Quality Threaded optimisation = Off Triple buffering = On Vertical sync = On Make sure your game resolution is the same as your screen resolution.
  4. Back to normal on a clean win10 64bit install Using old 2007 vintage saitek drivers for x52pro stick and rudder and the windows generic usb driver for the 2 lever quadrants. Stick and rudder were recognised by the newer mad catz (saitek replacement) driver and programming software but the profiles wouldn't work in game. Levers weren't being recognised when the driver was being installed using the old or new saitek software so I plugged in the usb, went to device manager, selected the hardware that had appeared with the yellow triangle and installed from it's properties window by searching for compatible software on the computer. Had options for mad catz driver and saitek driver when i installed the second lever quadrant but ignored them and stayed with the generic usb driver. Works a treat. Old saitek programming software and away we go!! Probably took me 3 hours of searching and trying different suggestions, pleased it was something relatively simple. Lifesaver information is at the bottom of page 1 of this link http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-hardware/saitek-x52-not-detected-by-driver-install-program/a54a3578-ccd7-4a30-80f5-34f006a12399?auth=1

  5. Ummmm......let me remove the FO off the wing....
  6. ~S~ chaps Not seen anyone else posting about this or heard it on chatter. I had a problem in the past few days where some of my keyboard commands were producing the wrong symbol eg. @ and " were reversed, so were £ and #. I think it was because of a windows 10 update but I haven't been around a week or so so haven't noticed it. Tried a different keyboard, same issue. Looked online and found a thread that said downloading the regional language pack was the answer and will put everything back. I went into my settings, found the language setting was English US and that English UK is a downloadable option. I downloaded English UK for language and keyboard. This now replaces English US and worked a treat. Cheerzen

    Little Stove

Yep, small metal flue sealed up into the original brick chimney. Access plate few feet above for the sweep to get in with his brushes. Easy peasy.
  10. Doesn't matter if they work or not, there will be so many restarts we won't know the difference

    Little Stove

Good for you Tonar, I love my Little Wenlock wood/coal burner. The piccie is a promotional one but mine is set in the same sort of fireplace but without the mantlepiece. It is a room heater but it keeps the house cosy if I let the heat circulate. Wouldn't be without it.
  12. I got one you can have Streak. It fits in with my controls configuration and button allocation so you can have that too if you want but bear in mind it is a very personal setup
  13. Is it not the case of installing games into another folder on another drive and avoiding the 'C' drive default installation altogether? I believe this has always been a standard operation for Win7 and 10 users as it increases C drive capacity and avoids the pesky windows UAC (user account control) having access to games and other programmes that it has an effect on. But then you don't get the benefit of booting games super quick on the SSD? IL2 has to be installed in a separate folder away from Program Files, but the drive is up to you isn't it? Unless i'm totally misunderstanding you Uncle Sidly! (Entirely possible). No, no misunderstanding favourite nephew, out of Program files is the way to go. I have 4 drives on my pooter. All my games except IL2 are on one WD Raptor, the OS is standalone on it's own WD Raptor, I have a backup ssd and IL2 is on another WD drive along with all the associated programmes. I don't know about faster bootup times for games as my ssd is the Backup drive due to the fact that that drive needed replacing due to age and I haven't got around to swapping stuff over.
  14. These are small files/folders though aren't they? Are they affected by UAC?
  15. Now, this worries me slightly. My current configuration is as follows: Boot SSD (128GB) = Windows, most game installations, program files Data HDD (1TB) = User files, docs, pics etc and a spill over of some steam games that would not fit in the SSD I think I will go for a new larger capacity SSD and do a fresh Win10 installation on that along with all games hopefully. But would that mean I can't then allocate my Data HDD for User files? Is it not the case of installing games into another folder on another drive and avoiding the 'C' drive default installation altogether? I believe this has always been a standard operation for Win7 and 10 users as it increases C drive capacity and avoids the pesky windows UAC (user account control) having access to games and other programmes that it has an effect on.
  16. It was an update from 7 to 10 matey

    I Have Strayed

Me too Tonar...and I still play World of Tanks. Warships is good fun (apart from the moronic morons that throw insults my way because I don't do what they want me to do and in World of Tanks I have the chat bar disabled because of the insults), especially when you land a salvo on another ship because you got the deflection shot right. Maybe all this plane flying has paid off and I have learnt something....
  18. Not so, I have a Saitek X52, Saitek pedals and 2 Saitek quadrants that all work perfectly aswell as the profiler. Apart from the initial reallocation of IDs by win10 (which sorted itself out after 3 reboots) NO driver updates/software updates have been necessary. I am using the same software and profiles I set up in Win7 years ago.
  19. I'd like to join in, will try to get on today even for an hour

Merry Christmas all! Have a great day
  22. @ Swep wow, what a likeness......
  23. Right, time I interjected before this gets out of hand..... Yes, this is the film I could be helping on, possibly being an on set runner and driver. Don't know for definite yet but am REALLY hoping so..... As for love interest/sex dolls/parachutes that is a combination I have yet to come across find but it could be very interesting
  24. Happy Birthday Bongo, have a good 'un!
