  1. Pooka, if you get rudder pedals that are specifically designed to work like real rudder pedals (like the CH ones are), your bad ankle may not be as much of a problem as you think! To operate the rudder you push the whole pedal with your heel so that your using you leg not your ankle, its the brakes that you will have trouble with because you push down with your toes (like a gas pedal). The even better news is that in IL2-PF you don't have real differential braking any way so just map the brakes to your good foot and fly away !!!!!!!!
  2. Unfortunately you are going to have to re-map your stick (unless anyone knpws a way around this issue). The Ch pedals for some reason always show up first on the windows joystick list, so they also show up first in the game. Your x52 will now show up as "joystick ID2". If you dont have it already,go get IL2 Sticks off airwarfare, it will make the sensitivity adjustments easy (you will kiss yourself for it). Welcome to the wonderfull world of rudder pedals!!!!!!
  3. Not only is the subject matter cool, but that's a damn fine photograph, worthy of the cover of an aeronautical poblication.

    TrackIR

Just a note, Naturalpoint does not reccomend a hub for Track IR, but I use one and it works fine, just be sure to get a powered one.
  5. Ch pedals here. Best thing since sliced bread . I only wish for real differential braking .

Ahhh, the life of the internet junkie..........
  10. Desktop waaaaaay better. Nice screenie, had they got the XXI boats out in signifigant numbers the atlantic would have been a very unpleasant place to be an ally
  11. Dude! I'm so glad you sent that picture, You need at least 6" of clear space behind the case for cooling, from the picture it looks like about zero, and the monitor right next to the case like that just can't be good. Your machine was most likely roasting alive! I bet you'll find a big difference with some better cooling going on. Oh, yeah, by all means get your desktop cleaned up, forcing your computer to draw all those icons all the time is a big recource hog. B16, I hand the floor to you.
  12. Glenn, the simple fact of the matter is that you did an outatanding job at a really difficult task. The results were spectacular! :hello1: The few minor annoyances were just that: Minor., and if there is any acrimony over the vulching issue, I haven't seen any evidence of it past the initial reactions. This is the best part of doing this with mature adults, and the reason I joined the Dogz in the first place (and it took a long time) . I will stick my neck out here and propose that we do discuss some airfield guidelines (notice I don't say rules) to help keep things organized at the biggest problem area on dogfight maps. Things like a landing/take off direction, probably no lucky boys on dogfight maps, calling out takeoffs and landings (much of which we already do). Please note that I in no way am promoting a rulefest here, just guidelines to reduce airfield crashes. As for the airfield strafing issue, I'm quite sure we can work that out, I don't see any reason why we can't come up with a solution without alienating any one. Oh, yeah, we have to do something about the raised airfields, those things are freakin' brutal. I'm quite sure they are much easier/quicker to set up, so I will be more than happy to give you a hand with mission, map setup to ease some of your burden. I also would like to look into helping out with the hosting (have your girl call my girl). Oh, yea, as far as the timing, I'm not sure we want to do more than one a month. (some of us are pretty old and well, the strain on the ole ticker and all ) One more time ; Doubletap Rocks!!!
  13. If your really close you might want to look to your machine and see if you can get a little more performance out of it to make up the differance, one thing I do is turn off the bling bling in windows and I get a pretty good boost in performance. Go to control panel > system>advanced >performance settings>visual effects then hit the radio button for "adjust for best performance" Xp will look like windows 98 after that but you won't loose any functionality and you will likely gain a good amount of performance. If your brave you could try some moderate overclocking. ( scratch that, of course your brave, you hopped in a plane I was flying!!!!!!) You also might want to look at your startup programs to see if you have anything running in the background that's not needed. (remember that PF is much more demanding on your system than other games, especially the processor; it has to run every math calculation for every flight characteristic of all the planes in the air with you, and every bullet and every piece of plane too.....That is a bucket full of math.) If you have time, perhaps we can get together one evening early in the week and go over your settings and get some practice in. ( I most definately need takeoff and landing practice).
  14. hmmmmm....words,........words,.......numbers..........Yep, words and numbers, definately words and numbers
  15. I'm not sure how it works but it might be cheaper to ship from east to west coast than from Canada to U.S. (it wouldn't suprise me at all) I'm certainly willing, but it'll take a week to get there ground. (Air would be absurdly expensive). If you don't mind waiting, give me the word.

I hope they get things sorted out soon, nothing worse than being grounded with mechanical problems.
  17. Doh!!!! Walked right into that one.
  18. Well done all!!!, well done Glenn!!! Only one other place to have nearly as much fun (and you guys aren't invited)
  19. Enforcer, does your computer have onboard sound? If so go into the Bios and make sure the onboard sound is off. If you install a sound card and leave the onboard sound running, the two will fight over recources like psycho and doubletap fighting over a kill. And dont worry about the ctd's you were accurately representing the luftwaffe's lack of spare parts just like I was representing the lack of skilled pilots.
  20. What your looking for is setup exe. you should have an icon for it in the FB+AEP+PF folder under "all programs". Under the Video tab you will find a dropdown list with a list of different cards.
  21. Yeah, Top. You really have to turn down with your video card. I have a 7800GTX and my framerates go down to 25-30 over water and with a lot of aircraft and flack all at the same time. I would say absolute minimum for running at "perfect " is a 6800GT. The good news though is you have some extra settings in config. ini. that you can use for tuning and the graphics are still nice turned down a little. First thing to try is going into the setup utility in your FB-PF folder, it has a setting for 5200-5900 cards, from there you can tweak things a little at a time. It's really a matter of trial and error. I would also look to see if there might be some other stuff you can tweak, such as background apps, performance settings, etc. (I'm not sure how much of a tuner you are). I'll keep an eye out for ya.

I have the V4 and I love it, it's very precise and has a bit larger field of view than the earlyer units, and the base allows for easy mounting to flatscreens. I use a clerk's visor with the vector thingie, works as well as a ball cap but doesn't cook me noggin.
  23. You mean we have to work together and watch eachother's backs?!!!!!!!! Preposterous!!!!!!!!!!! Oh well, maybe this once
  24. I'd say definately no vulching against my team, but it's O.K. if my team vulches. MMMMMkay?
