Guitarman's sig needs to go. I click on a thread and start trying to follow it, and all of a sudden the only word which enters my mind is "Cleavage".
-
ROger, When I click on it, it opens a larger version which is not full screen, but which is significantly larger. Not sure why you cannot access it like that....

AHA! See? Rocketdog can build planes that turn into submarines. I TOLD you he was a diabolical genius!

Dave, You forgot to mention I was in that screen shot too. Before you cropped me out my Lagg was in the lower right. See?

BG, Thanks for hosting today. I can probably make it unless I need to run an errand and shake someone down for some paperwork. I second BG's mixture suggestion. I used it for the first time the other day, and I think the boost in power is a big help. The flap suggestion is great. I did not think of that. Basically, you are using combat flaps so as to build up more speed, then take off for the final boost? I have not heard that before but it makes sense. One other thing is to have you landing gear button handy. As SOON as you leave the deck, pull the gear up. It will reduce drag and if you drop very near the water it could be the difference between crashing or not.

What Missions Would You Like to See?
DoubleTap replied to DoubleTap's topic in Missions and mission building
BG, BTW, I remember recently seeing on the Ubi boards someone writing that how you place stationary carriers (Direction N-S-E-W) affects the ability to take off. Apparently based on the map, the wind is modeled to come from a certain direction, and by having the carrier face that way gives at least gives wind to increase lift. Obviously, given the choice, I would use moving carriers anyway, as they look (and work) better but in say DF servers maybe perhaps that would help a bit. -
No, I haven't, but I will download it. Perhaps I can convert some of it for Coop. Actually, there are some many campaigns and missions that people have created for this game, and there is so little time to play them. I think that the only solution is for all of you to support me while I play full time. So, let's have it! Cough up the cash, folks. I have some flying to do...

M8's, I will be hosting another early session this Thursday (March 2nd) for those willing and able. DF server will be up @ 3pm EST. If we have at least 2 the coops will begin! Also, since the DD’s have some new members, some of whom are relatively new to IL2 (or at least to online play) I thought we could do an orientation of sorts. Basically, if you are having issues with your setup, or a question about how things work in the game or whatever, come into the DF and I or one of the other members who are there will try to solve any issues before we start missions. If I can’t answer your question (which is certainly NOT beyond the realm of possibility) I can hopefully direct you to one of our more knowledgeable M8’s, which is a rather long list. See you there! Stay Patient. Well, already you lost me... Seriously, the post looks great and I will have to look at it when I am not at work because looking at something like this makes me want to FLY and not being able do so fills me with angst and tension and ultimately rage which manifests itself in JUST CRASHING INTO THE FREAKIN' BOMBER WHICH GETS IT REAL GOOD, DOESN'T IT? YES, IT DOES!!! OH, WE HATES THE BOMBER, WE HATES IT!!! ... Uh, Sorry...

Thumbs on the design! An original and very pleasing to the eye.

M8s, I can start hosting as early as 3PM EST on Thursday, if there is enough people interested. I could go until 8pm EST, and then perhaps someone else will take over in interested. If we get at least two players (other than myself) I have no problem hosting that early. Let me know...

What Missions Would You Like to See?
DoubleTap replied to DoubleTap's topic in Missions and mission building
Because the Mosquito has always been a favorite of mine, its easy to comply... I am working on a series of 5-6 missions based on the early history of Mozzie's deployment. Its actually pretty interesting stuff, as apparently the early teething problems and unusual design made command unsure what to do with it. Over time, however, the plane began to find its own and became a hot commodity. I am sure many of yoy guys are aware of it, but its news to me. Missions will entail the variety of roles it was put in, including Recon, Night fighter, strike fighter and Nazi party crasher (these are going to be my favorite I think). One mission I could use help with. Apparently at some point the RAF began to use Mozzie's to try and collapse railway tunnels by lobbing bombsinto them. The program apparently met with mixed results, but I thought it would be a unique mission type. Does anyone know of a map where there are train tunnels? I do not think there are, but am not positive. I also looked to see if it was a placeable FMB and it is not. I may be able to jury-rig something, but thought I would ask first. -
By this logic, doesn't MS owe me money whenever I throw out an older PC because I am no longer using their software? Shouldn't I get some sort of deposit back? Look, I understand companies have to protect their intellectual property, even MS. Fair enough. I understand the problem when someone buys 1 copy of XP and then proceeds to installinstall it on 5, 10, 20 PC's. That is unfair. But if I am replacing a motherboard, its still essentially the same PC unit. To put it even more accurately, I am still only utilizing one license which I bought when I bought the OS. Just because I am upgrading the hardware that the OS runs on does not make it a new, or second license. This is like having to pay the sales tax again on a old car when you replace the engine. I think MS gets beat up a little too often just for being a big company, but then they do something like this and you realize why the flak pours in.

Being someone who likes to muck around with the mission builder, I'd like some ideas about what kind of missions people would like to see. If you have some specific ideas, let me know, and I will work on it. Put those ideas here, and I, or maybe someone else, can put it together. I think its obvious that everyone has their own preferences, and because of that, mission types vary greatly. Some people only like historically correct scenarios; some don't care as long as it involves shooting people down. Some like missions which are very realistic, which might entail hours of flight time; other prefers ones where action is fast coming. There is no correct answer as to what is the best type of mission, but put down what you would like to see done and we'll see if we can do it...
-
One thing we could add would be tracks of missions we run together. That way those who don't make it one night can see what happened, and visitors can get an idea of what we do.

Just wanted to say thanks and job well done to Roger and whoever else lent a hand in getting the forum up. It looks great and seems very easy to use. Kudos!
